Camino De Santiago Documentary - 900 km Solo Through Spain Under the Scorching August Sun

On the 9th of August 2023, I embarked on a solo pilgrimage from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, continuing to Fisterra and Muxia. This video captures just a tiny fraction of the experiences and thoughts from my 27-day journey through Spain under the scorching August sun. From the rugged Pyrenees, deserted Meseta, and lush forests of Galicia to the historic streets of Santiago, and onward to the edge of the world at Fisterra and Muxia, each step revealed new layers of magic, gratitude, and wonder.

Some of us don't have the choice eg we work school or academic terms so July and August are the only options. I have walked the Camino numerous times in July and August. I used common sense, took precautions and loved it!

I commend you for getting up early and beating the heat! That’s a great strategy, plus you get to see beautiful sunrises, you can check in early, you can get all your laundry done, and relax and enjoy the village you’re staying in.

Those early mornings hold some of my fondest memories. I’ll admit, there were times when it felt a bit eerie walking in the dark, but looking back, I realize how deeply it impacted me. It helped me work through some personal things and became a form of meditation. Walking alone through forests and fields at dawn, when the world was still asleep, was such a peaceful experience. And those sunrises, I've never witnessed so many consecutive ones in my entire life! They were truly something special

It was the Frances that had the most profound effect and watching your video just brought back so many memories from different parts of the route. In La Meseta, when I was a kid, there was dozens of kms of landscape under wheat or rye cultivation... that become in a yellow - golden color around July / August.
