This channel is such a gem! Great review my dude and as always overall great video! Pleasure to watch! I went for a Reaper 7 string multiscale a few months back and it had a cracked fretboard. I was smart enough to get it from Thomann who apparently have the best return policy ever and now a brand new one is coming my way, hopefully without any qc issues this time. Wish you all the best and with the quality of the content you're so consistently releasing this channel should blow up in no time!

Thank you for not being one of those guys who only show balls to the wall distortion... I'm comparing these to the Apocalypse and I either find balls to the wall distortion or clean styles I would never use in metal. You hit the nail on the head along with one person on the Apocalypse. I think that sealed it.... After hearing this, despite the Apocalypse sounded great, I think I'm going with the silver mountain. The cleans seem to be about equal, but man, these seem to have a lot of low end punch that it seemed people had to doctor in on the Apocalypse

I own this guitar and straight away I noticed the exact same problems with the nut as you did. It still played well and there were no obvious nut-related problems so I thought I’d just live with it instead of going through the annoyance of the return process. Big Mistake on my end. Fast forward a little over a month and when I went to change the strings I found that literally every single inlay was cracked, with multiple cracks extending into the fretboard. I hadn’t really played the instrument that much and I always kept it in a case when not in use. Honestly I was similarly blown away by the horrible QC, especially given the price and Schecters reputation. Such a shame, because it does sound quite good IMO

Have to say you proved me wrong, this was an excellent review and I'll be checking the nut on mine when I get home. aside from a small mostly unnoticeable blemish on the finish by the neck pickup, I haven't noticed anything wrong and I'm very happy. No fret buzz for me. If I don't come back and comment in a couple hours that means the nut on mine looked fine 👍

This finish is similar to what you'd call a bowling ball finish. It's done by spreaying the base coat, (red here) then black on it after the red dries, before the black dries, you press plastic onto the wet paint in a way that makes the pattern you want, you let it set for a few, then take the plastic off removing most of the black over coat. Then finish work

Great research on schecter. A lot of people dont know that Schecter started strictly as a custom parts manufacturer, wpecializing in pickups and hardware. It wasnt until Tom Anderson came along and became known as one of the best custom guitar makers. I love schecter and in todays world of copycats and everyone doing the same things, schecter stays the path (even though owned by the same japanese compaby that owns ESP) and even do the classics at a higher level than most. Disappointed that this particular guitar had quality issues but it has got to be rare.

I just experienced something like this with a used C-1 Apocalypse (rust grey, sort of a natural finish) that I bought online from Guitar Center. The nut was fine, but over half of the seam of the neck joint where the neck and body meet was not flush, and there was a significant white ridge that perfectly traced along the non-flush part of the seam. I suspect that this may have not been noticeable if it was a version with a more substantial finish. Anyway, I took it to a local guitar shop to see what they thought, and we couldn't really figure out if it was either from cycling through different temperatures/humidities over time (given that the neck and body wood is different), excess glue, or just a bad fit. I ended up returning it to GC for a refund, but I'm a little sad because it looked sick and I really liked the neck and frets.

I’ve seen they have new SLS Elite 2023 with Fishman Modern Fluence but no multi-scale. Would you recommend a multiscale over a standard scale?
@ChilledGuitarReviews
@ChilledGuitarReviews 7 ай бұрын
This is very much going to be down to personal taste my friend. You will find as many people who dislike Fishmans as people who do. I personally enjoy both active and passive pickups although mostly lean toward actives for my own music. I personally really like the added string tension multiscale provides, there are considerable benefits like more clarity in lower tunings, not having to use heavy gauge strings etc. But some people just don't get on with fanned frets which is understandable. For a multiscale guitar with Fishmans I would recommend looking at the Legator Ninja lineup. The Schecter Elites with Fishmans are fantastic (I owned a Black Fade Burst) but have considerably different neck profiles. If you have the option I would recommend travelling to a guitar store where you can get some of these models in your hands.

the nut is unacceptable but not surprised with the fret. The fret is more a problem of who you bought it from, normally store will do a minimal setup and fix "major" problems before selling or sending the guitar, to avoid returns like yours. Factory setups are very rarely ok even on high end instruments, this is why stores always do that setup before selling it.

Thanks for your review, of course i need to see it for myself, critical thinking im learning is an essentially necessary thing to learn in Everything and with Everyone, especially religion! What makes more sense to you, that We children probably come from an Eternal Mother Goddess or an Eternal Father God? So i have been thinking of buying this one but the buzzing is an unacceptable thing for any Guitar to do, it kills the main Tone on those Notes rite away. There is no way to get those Notes, Frequencies or Tones because its the buzz of two Metal objects instead. But while speaking of Metals, the Ferro, Para & Dia Magnetics all Matter when used on a Guitar. The Truss Rod needs to be FerroMagnetic, so when Electro ionic Activated by the kord, the Ferro uses its' Magnetism to attract the Physical Vibration Waves And Timbers, or Sound Waves into the Truss Rod, then they Ionically flow to the Magnets in the Pick Ups for Processing through the Amplifier. High Ferro Metals can be put in the Body multiple ways for this reason also. Then All other Metal parts Need to be ParaMagnetic, which activates with the Presence of FerroMagnetism or Magnets, then ionically flows to the Magnetic Strength, carrying Sound Waves with it. DiaMagnetic Metals active with the presence of Ferro or Magnetics and ionically flow away from the Magnetic strength. So they should not be used on a guitar because they send Sound Waves away from the Pick Up System. Most Guitar makers are Not aware of Basic Metals operations and Endowments. The Air also Vibrates in the shape of the Sound Waves being Generated or kreated, for about 2 or 3 seconds. That is why a single Note sounds better the second time it is played quick enough. The Air vibration can also be used for a secondary reverb effect or sound wave bouncing blend factor when using noise elimination Recording Techniques in Studio sessions. ParaMagnetic Antennas on the ends of a Guitar could also pick up this effect & ionically send to the Pick Ups on a Guitar.

@@ChilledGuitarReviews I have an Ibanez Iron label 7 string with a babinga top. I couldn’t shim the neck and angle the neck correctly. I must’ve took the neck off at least 20 times and nothing worked. Then I had a crazy idea and took 400 grid sand paper to the heel of the neck and now the guitar plays as good as my RG752 prestige

I bought an LTD M7 Baritone from the Black Metal series, after being amazed at an EC black metal series. Like, that EC is easily one of the very very best guitars I have ever played. But that M7 was a piece of absolute garbage. Complete shit. Sent it back. That's the Covid era build experience it seems, especially from some specific factories. LTD/Solar are the indo made ones that suffered the worst I think, being made in the World Music Indonesia factory specifically, sharing the exact same issues. The Korean made stuff, like those higher end Schecters, are often super well made but feel like they are made of stone or something. Dead and heavy and dense, like they used waterlogged wood or something. I hate it. Feels like plastic, and their satin finishes are the same as you get on Agile and Harley Benton and Legator guitars, that super super thick poly finish. No bueno.

What issues did you have with your M7 mate?

@@ChilledGuitarReviews oh man... Cracked and bone dry ebony fretboard, scratchy frets, off-centre pickup route, truss rod probably never got touched before shipping it off. It was so far from playsble it's not even funny, and once I managed to get the neck usable I realized how dreadful the frets were, and looking at those I noticed the fretboard. Yeah, I'd like to be the one reaponsible for my own cracked ebony thanks. Of which I have had none. Also that ebony was of terrible quality. The sad thing is my gold standard for ebony fretboards was an AMAZING Agile baritone I bought back when I was 19. Absolutely flawless guitar, and I sold it because I'm a fucking bonehead.

@@MFKitten You aren't a proper guitarist if you don't have at least one that you regret selling 😂😂. For me it was a Matt purple SC607B Stephen Carpenter signature model that I got for an absolute steal (I did a video on it at the time). Such a unique sounding/playing guitar but I couldn't resist flipping it for a profit at the time... 🙄

@@ChilledGuitarReviews I have 2-3 that I really regret selling. Others I miss but I also know I had a damn good reason to sell. Two of the three were "I have no reason to have it but I love it". The third was sold to fund something better that turned out to just be objectively garbage.

@@MFKitten We're always chasing that next guitar that we vibe with the second we pick it up.... You know the kind.... The ones where riffs just seem to flow from our hands and our playing somehow sounds better. Ah... Back to guitar shopping I go.. 😂

It's a minefield mate. I've had some blinders built around that period but also sadly a lot of Lemons...

Thanks so much. My Son and I were just looking at this one tonight… and will probably still get one, but any info is good info pre purchase… even if it’s kinda shitty. Personally, I do think you got a rare lemon… but we will take your advice about the return policy factor. Although… I’ve not had trouble with returns with any of our larger sellers. Which is big!!! 🪄⚡️ Hey! Remember when we just went in a store and tried the thing out before buying?! Ha ha! Yeah… you could still get home and find something you missed, but if you have a good list of things to check, you usual do much better that way. I mean… if my memory serves me well, that is. ✨ Thanks again, man!

Haha yep that seems a long time ago. I actually have a new LTD in for review at the moment and in choosing it I visited my local PMT. Got them to take it down off the wall for me and spent maybe 20mins in their amp booth playing it before deciding to take it. What a glorious experience honestly....

@@ChilledGuitarReviews Indeed. Once… years ago, while amp shopping, I grabbed a cheap guitar off the wall so I wouldn’t have to be nervous about using while trying the amp. Ended up going home with the guitar. Now that’s a win of a higher order, as well. That’s what being there can do. Boom! Take care.
