To be honest, a Malaysian here. I felt that Scania KUBs has been much more reliable than most of the china made units in rapidkl inventory back then in 2010s. Felt sad that LTA of SG decided to retire these beauty due to noise pollution issues. Hopefully some workable units can be resold to Malaysia.

Didn't know the cons of the kub back then, as a kid I was happy to see such plug rear doors on these buses. But now one thing I like about this bus is the kickdowns. Idk if it is just me but I somehow get used to and prefer the kib's kickdowns the most

I mentioned it before, but it took me a while to be a fan of the KUBs. My initial impression of the KUBs was pretty lacklustre, since the lack of seating capacity in the middle made me think "sardine cans". However, hindsight is 20/20, especially after seeing the MB Citaros in action, and now I am rooting for the Scania Fencers to pass the demonstrator tests and establish themselves as the successor to the outgoing KUBs. I admit bias is at play, cause I live in the East, I rode the Scania N113CRB for most of my childhood, so Scania has a special place for Easterners based on that bus model. Side trivia, but due to fears of the number 4, the KUBs have a very strange registration number configuration, which also extends to the Euro 5 batches, and why the second batch of Euro 5 KUBs use the 5000s, as opposed to the 8000s range for the Euro 4 and first batch of Euro 5 KUBs (the 8000 series of numbers were all exhausted by then). It's rather inconsistently practiced, but most KUBs will drop the number 4 from the third or fourth digit of the license plate number. Only the second batch of Euro 5 KUBs actually do follow this practice, as the series lack combinations like 5X4X or 5XX4 registration numbers in the series, hence why the number goes as high as 5252 when there are only 200 buses in that batch.

Nice Video! I personally prefer the Scania K230UB. It is very sad to hear that it is retiring.

I enjoy riding KUB alot, there's comfortable seats, a very audible engine with ZF Ecomat, and runs most routes with SBST.

The ZF noise also common on the Transperth Mercedes OC500LE.

“Der scania” is one big workhorse that accelerates fast than most modern day buses(except the A series and OC500LE). Yes it’s loud but like a Ferrari having a loud engine for a V12, this is also the same case for this bus. Grew up a lot w this and still today, I find it better than the inferior Citaro tho it still have a nice build up when thrashed(it’s teh acceleration and aircon that makes the bus pretty inferior)

Talk about the withdrawal of sentosa bus C. I don't think should withdraw cause it is like bus A white and green plate. Who will take from beach station to rws via siloso beach which is bus A and the withdrawn bus C from siloso beach to beach station. Unless bus B amend to go to sentosa cove via rws then bus A just go to siloso beach.

As far as anyone knows, will SMRT be taking any KUBs for their JW package?
