People should learn the history of the source material BEFORE posting inane comments. 1. Guys and Dolls was an adult play long before it had a middle school version 2. They're not strippers, they're "show girls" same as you'd see in any other nightclub of the error. Granted these are dressed suggestively, but do you see any girls bits that you shouldn't Seriously annoying when you comment without even the slightest knowledge.
@poopmaster1311 жыл бұрын
You were doing good until you said "any other nightclub of the error." I believe the word you were looking for was "era". And ironically, you made an "error". Cheers.

I had a role as one of the hotbox girls sprung on me unexpectedly. Needless to say I was so nervous. I'd never had a role like that and it was my first musical 😂 I guess what I'm trying to say is if you're ever in a similar situation, don't be nervous. Cut loose and embrace the role, because if you don't, the quality of your performance will suffer for it. Just have fun with it!

I remember seeing this at my high school, they obviously had to tone down the costumes and choreography but to make up for it the guys were closer to the center of the stage and hammed up the performance acting much more enthusiastic than in a professional production. Thought it was a pretty amusing take on the song
@breathedarlingokay7 жыл бұрын
im doing a junior version of this this month! im planning on auditioning for adelaide.. i absolutely love this rendition with the showgirls and the costumes and stuff, but of course, that isnt going to happen in the junior version :'D . if this were an adult version of the show, and i along with everyone else in it was 18+, this would be super cute to do. very well done in my opinion; its super adorable! and to me, it seems it fits in the era

The big issue is that today most people wouldn't have a clue what a bushel and a peck means. It's a great, funny song and should have been in the film. In those days most nightclubs had a stage show that went with the drinks, and encouraged the boys to spend more. They're not strippers at all. And in this show, they're meant to be funny and cute - which the film overlooked.

Yes everyone, Adelaide and the hot box dolls are burlesque strippers. Have you seen the second act of this show where they perform "Take Back Your Mink". Read the script before you talk about how they've taken a cute song and turned it trashy. All except Nerdy Ninja-the Jr. version does clean up the show for younger audiences.
@lillth92927 жыл бұрын

So I'm reading thru all these comments....my parents were born in the 20s. I was "young" (under 10) the first time I saw a burlesque show, a "home" movie of a show. Clips from different shows at different times. Fan dancers, burlesque, "strippers" (yes, my parents called them strippers, they stripped off articles of clothing.) None of these titles were EVER used in a derogatory manner. But, back then the term strippers didn't mean what it has come to mean now. Due to the fact there wasn't any ACTUAL nudity, only implied nudity, I was allowed to watch.

You want to know "annoying"...? Annoying is when people who post make obviously (and unconsciously) racist references when defining "memes" that started with black culture, then copied to become "mainstreamed by white youths, and associating these imitators as being the originators of them. Miley Cyrus didn't "invent" Twerking. And neither did these Broadway dancers OR their choreographers. What became known as "Twerking" was an African ritual dance popularized by the people of Trinidad when "playin' Mass", and the young people in Cameroon back in 1997, or there abouts. It made it's way to Jamaica, and then here to the US. We're not allowing any more conscious or unconscious "Culture Banditry" to go un-addressed wherever we see it displayed. After the usurping of the "crown" of Rock and Roll...we ain't havin' it...!
