In this China vlog, I am in Beijing City and visiting Wangfujing Street to get a feel for how busy it is given the Chinese Economy is possibly slowing.

I know when I first arrived in China I would go to the park or beach early afternoon around 2,30 and they would be absolutly deserted, so many of my photos had no one in them. It was a while before I discovered why, everyone was either taking an early afternoon sleep or simply avoiding the midday sun. Also early in the morning it was very quiet as most of the malls and stores did not open till 10.00am or 11.00am. In the evenings around 8.00pm and 9.00pm the beaches and parks are packed with people.

Yeah, exactly. I can go out at night and it is so busy with people out and just doing social and community stuff… then during the day and around dinner time etc it is very quiet. In the video it is 5:30pm on a Saturday and I realise as I started walking that a lot of people would have been heading off to eat it get back home so it was quieter than I expected. 👍

During the summer months in China, most people will try to avoid being outdoor during daylight hours. The shopping streets will be much more crowded after sunset.

Hi. It’s a tough question to answer as Beijing, where I live, house prices are high as it is a major world capital. Inside the main city area you could be paying the same as London but you can get more affordable house on the edge of the city and commute in. The transport links are amazing and the cost of transport is very cheap - travel the length of the city on the metro for roughly a £0.8/1$. The cost of living, fuel, energy, food and clothing is cheap on the whole but it all depends how you want to live. There is a range of prices for food and you can buy a bowl of noodles that are awesome for a couple of £’s or you could buy steak for hundreds. The variety on offer is great. Food shopping in the main chain supermarkets is expensive for foreign goods but local goods are reasonably priced and you can always shop in local supermarkets and get a better deal. All in all, Beijing can be whatever you make it depending on the money you have at your disposal. Elsewhere in China there are fantastic opportunities and it is much cheaper to buy, live and thrive. Some cities are more expensive than others like the coastal city of Qingdao or down in the tourist areas in the south, Hong Kong or some other big major hubs like Shanghai. China has it all, so I suggest you do the research and visit, discover what areas you like and price around that. 👍🏼 I hope that helps!!

It is 王府井(wangfujing), one of the most famous tourist destinations in China. Locals never went there for shopping... Almost all of people there are tourists from other provinces.

You should come to visit a city, ANY city in the slum America and see for yourself, the city of zombies in Philadelphia, skid of row of Los Angeles, etc. Its citizens' welfares and domestic problems are ignored but want to meddle other countries' affairs.

At least at radius 30 km around Beijing there is no slums and dangerous places. After that radius mostly farmland, so about slums and dangerous place you mentioned about is never existed over this 10 years

Yeah, nothing dangerous or slum like in Beijing. There are some tighter packed community areas and back streets that can show a different side of Beijing but I am never, ever, under any threat or feeling a loss of safety. it truly is a different experience.
