I used to watch this with my mother and sisters when it was new , but somehow I could not remember seeing this logo at the end like I did other shows like Happy Days and Lavern and Shirley .

Yes, that is right: the Christmas special "A Christmas for Boomer" (aka "Boomer in Love") served as the pilot for the series when broadcast on NBC December 6, 1979. It was successful enough that NBC subsequently ordered 10 episodes of the series, which ran on the network Friday nights from March 14 to May 23, 1980. After a hiatus over the summer and fall, and also because of the mid-1980 actors' strike, the second season of Here's Boomer was shut out of the 1980-81 season, with only another 1-hour special, Boomer and Miss 21st Century, being broadcast on Sunday, December 7, 1980. When NBC did broadcast the second season of Here's Boomer, it was moved to Sunday nights, from October 4 to December 6, 1981; the series finale, "Flatfoots," which aired July 3, 1982, was intended to launch yet another series.
