Good morning Mike. Looks to be a nice morning. Well I made 90 years today. Daughter and grand children took me and wife out to dinner. You have a great day.

Good news - at 90 you are eligible for having your own cake (and eating it too)! Congrats

Blue Skies and Puffy Clouds - Yessir. Good morning Mr. Mike and Engineer Ric. Thanks as always for the #5 coverage. I chuckled at the question, "How long do they wait?" "They don't." Yessir, very accurate, and I'm sure that only very rarely do they arrive earlier than the advertised and can't depart early. Well, some morning rains and an afternoon service call from the roofing contractor today. No new damage since prior. A number of roof shingles (tabs) blew off as a result of Hurricane Beryl 🌀 that had winds reported up to 95mph. He said the roof decking itself was good. So he took some pics and patched some obvious leak locations, followed by a temporary visquene (does anyone call it that anymore? -LOL) cover. The FEMA inspector is supposed to make contact, hopefully this next week, to make a visit. The contractor said that it's definitely a FEMA case and that they'll pay for the repairs. I believe it will be a different contractor that will handle the office ceiling repair/replace job. But first things first. As you said, and I totally agree, that no one was hurt. I am grateful indeed. More rain Sat, but decreasing Sun, with Mon supposed to be no precip and warmer temps - Yay. I'll keep ya posted. Be safe my friend 👍 Signal Indication Papa Geoff, 50 ahead - Here we go on a clear, copy 50 - On a clear, OUT 🚦🚦

Good morning, Papa Geoff; Thanks for tuning in and the comments. That was quite a trio of gals that boarded. They were all from far northeastern Colorado and that was a first-time event for them. I am in hopes they are having a great time at Glenwood Springs. We had a little "garden size" thunderstorm blow thru here late yesterday afternoon and dropped a welcome 0.2 inch of rain. Supposed to have more today but the prognostication I just read had the chances of rain evaporating to nil. Watched the opening ceremony of the Olympica and was taken by the constant rain there. Amazing performance by all the acrobatic teams on wet surfaces. Just hope that is not the standard for them during the games. Your use of "visquene" Had me looking. I have not heard that term. Oh well. I do hope the interior damage gets repaired quickly. Anyway, have a great Saturday. Please take care, stay cool, and safe!

Yeah good morning Mike it looks like another quick in and out with the zephyr today. Looks like that you were helpful some people there. And then kind of overcast over there from what I can tell.

Good morning, Robert; Thank you for tuning in along with the comments. Yep. It was a standard station stop with no drama today. Had enough already. LOL! Still have some smoke in the air along with a lot of low-level Ozone this morning. The sky is still not the blue I am used to seeing here. Anyway, have a great Friday back there. Please take care, stay cool, and safe!

Good morning Mike from rainy 76 mid Tenn. Yesterday was really a gully washer in southern Tenn. Wish I could pump some uphill to you. Good to hear from you & good to see your handiwork today.

Good morning, Ben; I thank you for dropping by as well as the comments. I saw video of some of that back there on the weather channel. Nobody needs that. Just a nice soaker rain will work. We have a long shot chance of rain here tomorrow. That's far beyond a lick and a promise. LOL! Hope that you don't wash away back there. Please take care, stay dry, cool, and safe!

Good morning Mike! It’s finally Friday! With Ric at the controls it was a quick stop and on to Denver for the crew and whoever is buying breakfast 😁! Have a great Friday out your way Sir! I am here in southeast Iowa with another 83 degree day here! Mark in Iowa.

Good morning, Mark; Thanks for dropping by along with the comments. It is 80F here and head up the thermometer to around 98 F. I am sure the operating crew didn't mess around in turning the train over to the next crew. I had heard via the grapevine that a Zephyr had a pedestrian strike in or near Granby on the western slope. That happened last Sunday. I don't have any other info about it but remember that the y were over 4 hours late after running on time to Granby. Hope that crew was able to shake some of it off. A hard thing to do. Anyway, have a great Friday back there. Please take care. stay cool, and safe!

Happy Friday, Mike. Love seeing puffy white clouds floating by. We've got some now, but t'storms this pm with predicted heavy rains- several inches. Ya' gotta luv summer. By the way, besides the great video, a real bonus is your personal interaction with the travelers. Starts my morning off on high notes.

Good morning, Jim; I thank you for stopping by along with the comments. Those little puffy clouds have disappeared. Just the smoky grey now. Another day of hazardous air quality. We may have fire weather alerts later. Hope that your drainage systems can handle all of that water from the sky. Shucks, I'd like one half inch of that here. Maybe tomorrow as we have a long shot at getting some rain. I think a snowball has a better chance in a hot pan. LOL! It was nice to chat with the 3 passengers getting on for the ride to the western slope. Always like the chat with some of the waiting passengers. Hope that you have a great Friday back there. Please take care, stay dry, cool, and safe!

Good morning Mike. I keep learning facts about train operation from your conversations on the platform and from comments here. How many years of training does it take someone like Ric to learn to become a conductor? Have a great day.
@MikeJensen-jt9yr5 ай бұрын
Good afternoon, Robert; I apologize for being a bit tardy in answering. Got hung up in the opening ceremonies for the Olympics. I have no clue as to how long the training goes for the conductors. Many come from the same position with a freight railroad then follow on with training with AMTRAK for personnel service. Same is true with the operators (engineers). The have freight service behind them and possibly have commuter service as well. Some with METRA, MARC, LIRR, and such. They qualify on a certain section of the AMTRAK lines or host railroad, say Lincoln, NE to Denver, CO on the Zephyr. Then certify with the road engineer (the boss). Many qualify on several sections such as Lincoln to Denver and Denver to Grand Junction. The reverse runs also have to be included. That's about the best I can do for you. Hope that helps s little. Have a great Friday evening. Please take care and stay safe!
