Re-upload of a #Canada Goose #documentary I made during high school (my previous account was locked and terminated after graduation)
Note that the documentary refers to the geese as "Canadian Geese." The correct term should simply be " Canada Geese ."

Canada geese get a bad rap. They are some of the best parents I have ever seen. Especially protective of their nesting area. The dad is always around watching and chasing off what they feel is a threat to their family. The mom is always in the immediate vicinity of the goslings. They even try to protect them while feeding with chasing off other geese who come near their food supply. They will stay together until the young start flying and finding a life of their own (usually about a year).. The parents stay mates for life. They usually nest in the same area if they were productive at raising a new family from the nest. At least that is what I have noticed from in the big city

I rescued a baby Canada goose this last spring, and raised her up till she was full grown. She had been injured and abandoned by her goose family. She is now at a nice farm with a big pond, and a bunch of friends. Don’t worry, No one is going to eat her. She was such a blessing to our family. She made everyone so happy. I learned so much from her. The best thing is, I get to go visit her any time I want.

Trying to find our baby goose. We honestly have the exact same story. Ours flew off after being startled or something last week and we are very worried. Praying we find her so that we can take her to a farm as well. What a beautiful blessing she is!!

Beautiful stories. Thank you so much. I too care for geese and feed them millet everyday which is their natural diet and I assume good for digestion in small amounts to go with human lawn grass which predominates where I live in the city.

Lovely video but please no bread .It bloats , has no goodness and if in water gets mould which causes illness .They like grass, greens and if you want to treat seedless grapes split ..09-45 is proof of how they love grass .Geese are grazers .You would be great to be advocates for Canada Geese .The 1st eggs I saw hatch were in Manchester UK in pouring rain .Terrific presentation of a lovely project ( please help the campaign to stop the use of bread as food ) Best Wishes to you both and I wish that Goose family the same .I live in Berlin now but fly to UK each year just to see my very special geese in Manchester .Hope it will be possible this year ....Good luck to you both , Helena 👍

@@sharksport01 No, they are called Canada Goose due to their latin name of "Anas Canadensis" which then got changed in more recent times to "Branta Canadensis", which translates to "Black goose of Canada". The Latin name was coined in 1758 by the Swedish taxonomist Carl Linnaeus. If you're talking about the rumoured "John Canada" who supposedly named them after him, there is no proof that such a person ever even existed. Please do not spread misinformation about this without first doing a thorough detailed research on the topic. There are many useful books at your local library that you can use to clarify this information.
@thatonecanadianguy6523
@thatonecanadianguy6523 10 ай бұрын
I will however say that they should be called "Canada Goose" and not "Canadian Goose" as the OP was suggesting. Canadian Goose refer to any goose that originate from Canada, and not specifically the Canada Goose. Canada Goose was specifically chosen due to their Latin name of "Branta Canadensis".

It can cause what's called angel wing in young birds causing the wings to fold at the wrists and they'll never be able to fly. Bread is very bad for any bird.

More than that, with water fowl bread can be dangerous. The gluten in the bread mixes with all the water that the birds ingest, and becomes a sticky mass that can clog their digestive tract, resulting in death.

we feed a family of geese at the park, one of the goslings died from a dog attack, and the mothers foot is severely broken. one of their goslings also has a broken wing, we brought it to a bird rehab center for care (momma gooses foot isnt savable). so we feed her birdseed to give her some extra boost.

they have brought me so much love and peace. they are so beautiful. and they are never "mean". their soft paddles have sat over my sandles, my feet feeling "bird warmth". They run up to me and surround me - know me. geese give good kisses, cuddles and are always lovable. gentle, protective of their young snd beautiful. oh, do you know how to fly? birds know more than us... stop shooting innocent birds for "fun".

My Dads Neighbour fed the Canadian geese for 25 years 8 Garbage cans filled to the top every day for these geese. We lived on a lake and their property was about 200 feet/61 metres wide on the lake with a wide beach. The same Geese started to come every year 2 times a year. In time about 3,000 would come and sit on his beach and float in the water. There were so many in the water you could NOT see the water. The baby geese would bring their babies there and those babies brought their babies there. The location imprinted in their minds as a flight stopover point. Then the neighbours sold the house and did not disclose the fact that kabillion geese land on the property 2 times a year and won't go away for about 3 weeks each time. The people that bought the property were very unhappy ....

Yep, they love bread, and will quickly eat it every time you give it to them, BUT, unfortunately bread has no nutritional value for them, it makes them feel full, but it's actually hurting them due to lack of vitamins and minerals, it could lead to angel wings, and many other disorders and diseases, it's even worse if you feed them bread while they are swimming because some of the bread will sink to the bottom causing pollution and harmful algae and bacterial, so please do not feed them bread, some of their favorite snacks are fresh green peas, wild bird feed, finely chopped up carrots and cabbage, there are some veggies that are bad for them so be careful, white potatoes for example, if you see them out of water in a field of grass and weeds, they are in food heaven, they love to nibble on grass, weed, and leaves, and forage on insects, worms, and snails ;)
