Cobras are just found in Asia and Africa only. Secondly King Cobras ( Ohiophegus Hanna) are not cobras ( Naja s ) . They are more related to the mambas ( Dendrospis ).

Due to this being 24 hours old and the man didn’t know he had been bitten makes me think it was a Krait instead of a cobra
@TinyMedicine3 жыл бұрын
Krait doesn't have local symptoms. This guy clearly had them. So Cobra bite is more likely than the Krait bite. The farmer could have been diabetic (neuropathy) or could have ignored the local effects. But on the inspection we observed considerable local effects at the bite site.

Why are some venoms being researched for medical use? Aren't the risks too high?
@gwencrawford7373 жыл бұрын
No. The venoms are being studied in labs, and being studied at their elemental levels. Only specific parts of the venom cocktail are being cleaved for use in medicine. It's not like they're taking a dose of pure venom and zapping a patient with it in hopes of curing something. ;) Venoms have been used in medicine development for quite some time, and there are medicines that take elements of snake venom and use them beneficially, on the market today. Some elements of copperhead venom are used in treating breast cancer quite successfully. Some elements of cobra venom have been used in cardiac medicine with great efficacy and safety for patients.

What happen if i accidentally touch the venom liquid on snake?
@marcelvandriel73973 жыл бұрын
your skin protects you from having any effects unless you have a skin disease. If the venom comes on an unhealed wound or in your eyes, it can cause problems, though.

My dad brought a baby Indian cobra to show me , It happened like 30 mins ago , my hands are still shaking , i know even if its small it has more than enough venom to kill , it was inside a plastic bottle and i was scared that its fangs will pop out . Dont worry , the authorites came and took the snake the Snake park which is 5 km away. Looks like i wont be sleeping tonight

Difficult, but can be done. May be Plasmapheresis ? May need to intubate if muscle paralysis hits the diaphragm. If there's coagulopathy, may require correction. Dialysis also could be used in case of renal failure.

@lilitudeamnocte2482 жыл бұрын
Cobras have "hoods" around their head that expand. There's absolutely no snakes like that in the Americas including South America. You're probably thinking of the elapidae snake family in which the coral snake is related to the cobra in that that they don't have retractable fangs that latch onto prey. Venomous sea snakes are the same, so you might as well have said that sea snakes are cobras. 🙄
