To answer your q, I personally like the captions. It adds that extra luxury feel to the video. At the same time, I know it takes a lot of time, especially for those customers you really can't hear (I'm sure it takes a few rewinds to capture it all). At the same time, I understand cutting it out means more content, which also means more revenue for you. So either way! As long as you're both making vids, it's a good day.

I think some POV channels have an AI version of it. They must because sometimes the captions are really goofy and don't make sense - but ~95% of the time they're good.

Like that point about the luxury feel! Captions are back and here to stay 🫡 We use CapCut Pro which automates a lot of the captions but we also go through and edit it to make sure it's all accurate, so still a time drain. BUT we love them so we're keeping them in!

Captions help a bunch. It makes it easy to follow. Personal experience doing QC for subtitles for anime back in the day, I can confirm that it’s a tedious process. The audio and the subtitles had to have close to perfect timing and it also depends on the frames per second. I probably watched every episode 10+ times from what I remember.

Usually I don't comment on KZbin, but I love this channel dearly and would love to have a say. I think keeping the subtitles is the better option, rather than the latter. I understand it takes a lot of time, but I feel it's easier to hear everything that's going on with the subtitles. It also gives a sense that you're almost there yourself too :)

Agree with everyone about the captions adding more to the overall production of the video & that we know it takes more time to put them in. If you're going no captions I think y'all should invest in another wireless DJI microphone that is specifically placed at the front of the table for customers' dialogue or a separate directional microphone/recorder setup because it is hard to understand them without subs. Adds another step to setup, but layering/syncing the audio would be easy in any video editing software. Fix in pre so it's easier in post!

Answering your question, I personally like the captions but I understand how time consuming it can be from editing experience myself. SO I'd rather have two videos with at minimum the card/trades popping up on screen. If y'all have time captions are a nice QoL aspect, but not needed. Keep pumping the content! I love it, my girlfriend agreed to collect with me too, I'm quite excited. ALSO I love seeing old returning people, as well as collabs with Mero! Super cool seeing other vendors make trades. I love the bulk buys and I'm not sure why LOL.

no need to add captions as long as your audio is good which it is! Captions are nice, but not necessary. They can also be added near instantly in adobe premiere pro with automatic transcription if necessary. It's extremely accurate with only the occasional mistakes.

I'll give you my vote on subbies - they're nice, but I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze on long-form videos. The commenters saying they prefer and appreciate them certainly do, but other than for those truly hearing impaired, 99% of them would still watch the channel if you dropped subtitles forever, especially if the trade-off is more/faster uploads. The middle option (between this video vs full subtitles) IMO is to increase the volume whenever buyers are talking by ~50%. This still takes a lot of effort but probably half as much as subtitling manually, and solves the "buyers hard to hear" problem by bringing their "volume peaks" to the same level as yours throughout the video. That's what I do in my vids, and I subtitle things that really need it (impossible to hear, in another langauge, etc) Keep the subtitles on shorts. I barely watch short form video but when I do it's often in bed with volume off so legible subs are a must.
