A Casio Square Watch bigger than G-shock Square & it's Affordable

I found a watch that is absolute value for money. My first impressions are mostly positive. This Casio watch has room for improvement- I hope they do make these changes and release an upgrade.

I also bought it 2 months back on Casio website at the same price you bought 2000. The negative display one. But before that I had bought the positive display one on flipkart, but I received a used watch which I returned. Believe me, the positive display variant looks much better and rugged and is more legible. Congrats🎉

@TickTockTreasures Actually I had ordered negative display variant from Flipkart at 2097 something after watching a review from The Mad Watch Collector. And I received a positive display one. The crystal was all scratched up, even the metal bezel had some scratches, believe me, the stopwatch was already running for more than 23 hours when I received the watch, date n time was already set, tags were not tied to the bracelet and so on. It was sufficient to assume it was already used or was a show piece or somebody had ordered it before and returned it after using it. After returning I checked Casio website and there was the same offer too, so I bought another one from there. I had bad experiences with Flipkart and Myntra when I bought specially Casios from them.

You not gone believe it but that watch i have to ,the symbol under the date is not the hourly chime but the alarm symbol the chime symbol apears under the wr 100m ,in timer mode you can set also to repeat function and i dont know the name of the second funtion but it beeps when the timer reaches the last 10,5,1min and 30,20 sec and the last 10 sec it beeps every sec before it gets to zero ,in stopwatch mode you can set also a target time

Yeah! I made a mistake. I am spoilt ny Gshocks that I have forgotten the difference between Alarm and Hourly Chime symbols lol. Thank you for correcting! It does seem to have an interesting operation. Need to explore it in the coming weeks

I got introduced to the term “G-Shock killer” for the first time when I saw the review of this watch a few months ago, but I read one of the comments that said “Nah.. DF-291 with similar looks & price, but with 200m water resistance is the ‘real’ G-Shock killer”.. While I was in a ‘dilly-dallying’ mode, there was a ‘real’ G-Shock (5600UE) listed for Rs 1000 more on Amazon “ and the rest they say is history” !!

G-Shock is a G-shock. With every new launch Casio is introducing new materials for their build, new layers to protect the module which the regular Casio watches don't have. As much as DW-291 and this one are heavy duty I feel they won't be able to survive the kinf of shock-proof tests that G-shocks go through..

Casio should launch this watch as G-Shock entry level watch... This one is giving tough competition to DW291..

To launch a watch as G-Shock they will need to add that extra protection between the module and the inner lining of the case which these watches don't have and hence they aren't shockproof.

I don't understand the term "gshock killer". I mean casio is smart enough to not to provide each n every gshock features in this youth series. For ex in 291h they provided 200m WR,mineral glass but the buttons can easily hit an obstacle. Same goes with this one although it has SS bezel but has acrylic crystal. Hence if we want an alternative for the gshock we shouldn't buy it bcz it's gshock killer, we should get it bcz lesser price point,and approx similar features like a gshock. That's my point,I hope you understand and agree on it too! Baki as usual crazy cinematics and they're improving day by day. Lage raho keertan bhaiya!

I am with you completely. I haven't personally used the term 'Gshock killer' to describe these G-shock like watches because they can't handle the shocks like Gshocks do because of a different construction inside. You are right about the buttons on the DW-291--- they get pressed when droped and that can directly affect the module if it's a heavy drop

Digital- Casio F-91 (this will last at least 8 years with the initial battery) or You can look at Sonata Watches in the 500-700 rupees range (they will last for about 3 years) Analog- Casio MRW-200H, Casio MTP Series

some questions where it stands against g-shock is it sturdy, like G-shock? and also classic Indian question- which one is cheapest g-shock without much compromises(if there are any, i don't think there should be any (ofc g- shock))

Well, it's sturdy like all Casio watches but it isn't necessarily shockproof like G-shock.. In G-shocks, the module inside has extra protection to save it from damage from drops but regular Casio watches don't have that. The cheapest G-shock is DW-5600 but I have been seeing a DW-5610 for sale which is also a good G-shock. These are basic G-shocks that you can get

My d230 which is similar to this Got scratches in one day of usage I applied lamination which cost me less than 10rs It sounds funny screen protector for Casio watches 😅 I don't like scratches on my screen so

Why indian watches like HMT, titain, Ajanta watch are not famous like japnese watch

Japanese mostly used their own movements- either the brands own or a movement from another brand within the country (for example Casio uses Miyota quartz movement which is owned by Citizen).. In India, we don't have our own movements. Even when HMT was launched they partnered with Citizen for the mechanical movements). It's more expensive to manufacture their own movement than to buy entry level movements from other countries, either use it as is ot re-engineer it to suit the local market needs.

@@TickTockTreasures Well W737 is an older model with bigger pusher for light. Though the single led is not good but they actually looks quite same. My point is Casio stopped innovating good design. All those watches in youth series made in recent years and AE1500 is actually worth buying IMO
