How about a bodycam style cam for dodgy areas, rocket? You could even put a fake DHL style delivery sticker on it. Those selfie sticks are a bit conspicuous methinks. Great vid btw, be nice if you talked to a few ppl - again, easier with bodycam or tiny goprk on shoulder?

You should come to west cumbria, rocket - rough as hell. Just chill, dont wave the camera about (or iphone 15) and blend in. You deffo need a semi hidden chest cam so you can pop the big cam in your bag when cruisin spicy areas. Rough areas are actually often more intetesting than city centres, too.

I was in Sofia in 2002 and caught a 10 hr bus ride to Istanbul. Be careful, it’s not Thailand. You could attract negative attention.

Bulgaria in 2024 is nothing like it was in 2002. It's one of the safest countries in Europe if not the world. Much safer than the UK, let alone Thailand. Crime levels are much lower than the UK. But yeah, I suggest visiting again, the country is totally different compared to 2002

nice one mate. A little anecdote of mine about Bulgarians.... i was in a resto in Cape Town, and there was a large group of people speaking a lingo that i couldnt recognise, but when i went for a piss, there was one of them standing at the urinal , so i asked him where they were from (as you do in the Gents), he said Bulgaria. I found that a bit odd so when i got home i googled Buglarians in Cape Town, and bing, first thing that came up ...Bulgarians control the vice trade in CT - and since there have been quite a few Bulgarian mafia murders in CT. So, you are right to keep your wits about you mate.

Bulgaria is one of the safest countries in Europe, much safer than the UK. Mafia has nothing to do with petty crime or doing something to tourists, this isn't Latin America with their cartels. Bulgarian Mafia is more like white collar businessmen not drug kingpins and insane henchmen like in other parts of the world ,where it really is dangerous.

I live in Thailand and now visiting family in London and found using my bank card for everything, I haven’t needed cash for anything, just tap under £100 or put your pin in for over £100. So is Bulgaria the same? I have a Wise card as well and I wonder if it’s better than my U.K. bank card? I get the amount deduction immediately on my mobile!
