I bought a Baum and Mercier Hampton as my first luxury watch in 1990 and it is still as classy and beautiful now as it was then. I have never had a single problem with it in 32 years. One of my favorite brands. This would be my first choice in this price range. Love your reviews. Keep them coming.

This watch has the classic dimensions of mid century American watches. A beautiful, fully serviced vintage Hamilton or Bulova can be had for $300-$500, which is an absolute steal! These underrated historical gems bring on a whole other level of satisfaction 👌 (Wearing a 1955 Hamilton Trent salmon/silver dial as I write this - nice enough to make Elvis envious!)

Amen brother! These new rectangular watches don't come anywhere close to the Art Deco bonanza of the 1930s/40s and 50s. I would also add the Gruen Curvez to the two you mentioned.

Oris, if you're reading - include the 6 with "Swiss Made" on either side, and lose the date with a manual would movement! Would be more fitting of this watch style, imo. Could also be nice to write something in the bottom half like "Hölstein" or "Mechanique", but not necessary. (Alternatively, if possible, a squared small seconds would be amazing!)

Love the Oris Rectangular. My wife has an older version with croc leather strap and Roman numerals. Beautiful watch in an amazingly small case.

I love this watch to the point that some time ago when visiting family we popped into the local AD. I was taken with the Bordeaux dial but when I tried it on my 7" wrist it was just a tad too small. It wasn't a wasted visit though as my sister bought it. I walked out with a Longines Dolce Vita sector dial that was a bit larger. I might be wrong (probably) but I think they share the same base movement but you don't get to see it in the Longines. The Oris does look very good in the blue dial version and other options.

@@rickyromano6659 yes i also love B&M, its one of my favourite brands and love what they do. I have a clifton Baumatic which i love. Yes i know the Hampton is not small hence why a nice well explained review by Teddy would be appreciated as therd arent many online. Such an underrated brand.
@rickyromano66592 жыл бұрын
@@darrenaquilina1403 I 100% agree. The Clifton is a super underrated dress watch. Their in house Baumatic with 5 day power reserve is a really good movement. Many other luxury watches at this price point; especially those with exhibition case backs, are thick. Usually over 13 mm, but not BM. The Clifton is under 11 mm. Same with the Riviera. The movements are also beautiful and well finished for the price.

Having a hard time with alternatives. If I want that style of watch, I need a JLC or a Cartier. Otherwise, I'll feel like a wannabe. Although I bought a Pelagos because I couldn't afford a Rolex and I love it. Complicated subject. Goes with the budget I guess
@stephengarratt80272 жыл бұрын
Nobody can knock a Pelagos
@alexey70422 жыл бұрын
Tank case style is not owned by JLC or Cartier. Same as 4 wheels on automobile is not exclusively Mercedes. Before falling out of fashion virtually every watchmaker made tank watches. Many like Longines never stopped.
@brucerojas242 жыл бұрын
Pelagos is in its own lane. Yeah, the case is to similar to a Tank on this one.
@dant.63642 жыл бұрын
You feel insecure about purchasing this Oris yet you bought a Pelagos which is one of dozens of Rolex Submariner homages? Baffling. I would think that purchasing a "dive watch" that nobody uses for diving would make you more of a poser than wearing this Oris that looks nothing like a JLC or a Cartier.

@markstarmer367711 ай бұрын
Lovely watch, spoiled by the unnecessary date complication. Even this is ridiculously too small, which it can’t be much bigger anyway due to the architecture of the watch. An art deco dress watch doesn’t need a date window. Other than that, it’s a great choice.
@jfasamurai162 жыл бұрын
Not sure what to make of this tbh. Looks nice though 🤔
@kamil41492 жыл бұрын
For me it das only one thing wrong and it's the same as longines dolce vita, why would you put a date window on such watch? It would look much cleaner with a 6 marking, like 12, 3 and 9. I don't mind date on sports watches, but I haven't seen a dress piece that looks better with a hole in a dial.

Jlc Reverso leans the most towards formal style dressiness in a modern design.Longines Dolce Vita style leans towards formal dressiness as well but with an old school twist.Cartier tank leans towards formal/casual/modern/old school timeless style which is most versatile.with This Oris I don't see it looking as good as the Cartier Reverso or longines since it lacks Abit of the luxury feel the others provide as a signature watch however when wearing more casual style clothing and if you have a wider collection of watches this would be the best choice to have imo and looks the best with casual and modern style clothing
