ABOUT THIS VIDEO
I had hoped to get the Totem Bison Tower review out before I published this video, however I have been busy with Xmas events. This video is a free for all for Totem to get out information about the technical aspects of the product and to allow them air-time for what is a great product. Speakers that sound better than the PMC Prodigy 5 in my opinion.
I generally don't do these types of interview videos because I tend to make my mind up based on the product itself, I don't make overly technical videos as that's not why I am doing this, and it is difficult to go tow to tow with designers not being one myself. But on this occasion I thought if viewers get useful info, then why not put it out there. Any constructive feedback is appreciated.
Video Correction : Totem are Totem Acoustic not AcousticS

No reviewer can always benchmark best products or their favourites on KZbin. I feature broadly competitive products on KZbin but 'best' does exist in the confines of preference, objective comparison and consensus opinion on one level , and 'absolute best' that most will go along with, on another. It means you don't fall down rabbit holes of buying products that, relatively speaking, don't perform as well. I don't give awards which can be misleading by overlap with newer awards, and not being capable of responding to change as the product goalposts change or pricing in different countries. Also the model of monetising awards isn't one I want to follow so I can be independent and not influenced to say a product is say 'outstanding' because I know a brand would pay for the privilege of such an award, which is how many reviewers monetise. Ideally I want to be sponsored mainly by and consider my Patreon audience as my customers and if I can get to 300 Patreon subscribers, I can sustain 13th Note... but at the same time be a force for trust, honesty and credibility in this industry (which is one of my original aims).
WANT PERSONAL ADVICE?
If you want single advice (or like what I do and want to support me) please make donations via KZbin Super Thanks (click on the dollar icon under the main window) or PayPal Me as I no longer respond to advice queries on KZbin. I charge £25 for a 1 hour consultation on Zoom which is cheaper than many others.

NOTES
*1 COMPARISONS OF UNREVIEWED GEAR : Please don't ask me how a product compares to another which I haven't reviewed, as it isn't possible to comment on such products I haven't tested. Check out my website for reviews of products I have completed instead (hit the review tag, and separate tags).
*2 MORE ADVICE : If you are asking me how does X product compare to Y that I HAVE reviewed, or how does something sound beyond comment in videos, or system / further advice, please sign up to Patreon (small amounts!) or make contributions via PayPal where we text chat or Zoom etc. I can't answer all questions free on KZbin! I only charge £25 for an hour consultation on Zoom of all my experiences, which is cheaper than many.
*3 ABUSE POLICY : I encourage and like debate, and constructive criticism, but people who abuse or troll me, or my subscribers or commenters, post very negative and non constructive and uncorroborated comments designed to put me or others down (where they don't explain themselves), or they could be perceived as such, as well as aggressive comments / hate, or pit my subscribers against me, get their comments removed and I hide them from commenting again. I don’t need the hassle of these people for all the work I put in! Again I don’t mind people who disagree with me, where they explain, or indeed debate, but I tend to delete comments that are not substantiated where the poster doesn’t explain themselves e.g just ‘this amp is really bad’ as it doesn't add to the discussion and detracts from my efforts

Totem maximizing value for money yet designing and manufacturing in NA is so gratifying! Makes me want to run out and buy a pair!

This interview is so important for the future of sound. Totem totally blew my mind, probably the best I have heard next to Audio Note. I would choose Totem easily for the price. I finally get why it sounds so amazing. Those driver baskets are simply stunning. Yep I get it .

What an informative review. So interesting . Vince is one of those very special people who have a passion for what they do. Living in Montreal and speaking to him personally on numerous occasions at Le Salon de l’Audio, he was always there and very approachable. I am now the proud owner of a pair of Bison Twin Towers and I just love them. Your observations were spot on. I drive them with a Willsenton R8 alternating with a Naim Nait 5-2. They both give me goose bumps with hi quality recordings. My 5 minute listening sessions typically last 1 1/2 hours or more. Great product. The people working for Totem Acoustics are all professional and kind. I could not be happier with my purchase… and your interview. Please keep it up!

Memories of the Model one introduction at CES and the amazing first Torrent speaker years later. Favorite story was that his early speakers were always compared to the reproduction of his neighbors Grand Piano.

Great interview. My Metal V2s are absolutely wonderful. There’s more engineering to those speakers than other speakers selling for much more money.

He is the genius he is. His speakers sound so natural, so rhythmic, so crunchy, so organic and all the elements appear so holographic and disappear so quick.

Great interview, Simon! Vince is such an interesting and down to earth person. I’ve heard the Totem Tribe towers and was hugely impressed but at double the cost of the Bison Towers, well above my pay grade. I will start saving for the Bisons though!

Interesting interview. He is a very genuine fellow and is so enthusiastic about his product. I am one year into their Signature One after 12 or so years with the Rainmaker. Really enjoying the new one. He mentioned that a lot of people gripe about the looks but I think they look fantastic. Rather subtle but very classic and timeless. Great products that don’t get enough attention.

I thought he was down to earth too which is nice. Sometimes speaking to some British sales people they can be intimidating. It’s always the designers who come across nicest

The Totem Forest incorporates the Hi Vi Research D 6.8 driver. That speaker costs 140.00 Canadian. The tweeter even less. Crossovers although high quality account for a few hundred more. The Totem Forest sells for no less than 5600.00 Canadian a pair.. Borosilicate lined double veneered cabinets with internal bracing cannot justify the cost. The general public may listen and be impressed by all the talk of exact speaker pairings for timing alignment. These claims are just used to entice buyers and inflate the price asked. Now the Torrent driver is different. But that’s another conversation. Getting 6.5 inch Hi Vi Research woofers to perform in any well designed cabinet only produces so much. This is the reality of moving mass.

Great interview!! I'm really interested in the Bison Tower. I have a Sugden A21 Signature integrated amp--do you think that would be a good match?

I just watched a GR Research video and Danny was trashing a Totem speaker. He clearly didn't understand the brilliance in the design. He disregarded the seemingly simplistic design. I would love to see an interview with Danny and Vince and watch Vince humiliate Danny with his ignorance and arrogance. The audacity of someone who thinks he knows more than the actual brand designer is just astounding.
