Someone posted that creating this product much cheaper would be easy. We really try to keep the price down as much as we can. By the time you count all the costs involved in manufacturing and selling these, we end up making very little margin on each one. Some of the costs are moulding (not cheap for this sized plastic base I can assure you!), shipping parts from overseas, beamsplitter glass (expensive), shipping boxes, warehousing, marketing the product etc.. So we really REALLY want to maintain a low price so it is affordable for everyone. We are not greedy and we work really hard to make a buck (we do need to eat and pay the bills) and this is our product and we are proud of it and its price and its success. When we started this product a few years ago, we were the cheapest by FAR. We created a buzz in the teleprompter sales industry by smashing the prices down by hundreds of dollars. We were not popular at all!! We still believe we have the best price for the quality of the product and service you get. So thank you to all those who have bought our teleprompter. Every sale helps us stay in business and keep the price down. Happy Prompt-ing:)

I love the Prompt-it prompter Nate, So easy to use and setup. Finding a 10" tablet is easy now to fit in the frame.

Hey Super idea about the "Prompt it" telepromter. I'm going to by one. Also, your delivery without a telepromter is very good and inspirational. Thank you.

I've seen some 12x12 beamsplitter glass (glass only) go for at LEAST $70/$100 range of price (that is USD), the thing is you would have to "build" a cage for the glass to sit in. An old modified briefcase/attache case would do, or you could build your own custom rig. At $289 (AUD) or $329 (USD price as of this posting), I think it's a fair price compared to the ones that are priced at over 800 to a thousand or more. The glass itself, however, won't go over the 300 price range depending on size.

Ah Blunty -you are one of my new heros for posting this. I was looking for a teleprompter ap ! I've got a little Universal Tablet holder ($12.00/US) that fits on my microphone stand and can hold various tablet devices. I've got a Kindle Fire HD that takes great videos and isolates sound from background. Now if I could record video and teleprompt simultaneously that would be super. Right now I'm just reading from small cards mounted on the mic stand.

you know what would be cool is if this product can double as an Eyedirect-like product, used to maintain eye contact during interviews. I suspect it wouldn't be hard, just turn the mirror glass sideways and make a periscope type apparatus.

I was wondering with this system is there will be any flaring problems onto the lens and i should use a pol-filter to clean up the refections and flaring?

funnily enough I just built myself a teleprompter last night. Unfortunately, it really does need some beamsplitter glass. Knowing how easy it is though, one could easily undercut this mob in price. Now if only I could be bothered...

The angle is the same for the pad and the camera and yet the pad is reflected and the light going to the camera is not. ITS MAGIC!! Normal glass would not behave like that at all.

If you can make, market and sell something equal or better to this in all aspects, for significantly less cashola then you should get your shit together, because they're selling REAL well apparently.
