German here. In Germany, most people buy their Christmas trees the week before Christmas and put it up inside on Christmas Eve‘s day (24th) and decorate it. It then stays in the home until around the second week of January or so.

Listening to your conversation is like chicken soup for my soul! About Christmas decorating, while other people are out to the shopping malls and going nuts on Black Friday, I put up my porch lights and a little tabletop tree while playing vintage seasonal music. Nothing comes back down until Three Kings Day in January. I just feel the lights and colors are so good for people to see in the wintertime.

Looks like you need a ladle with a shorter handle. Great job on the crispy crackers. Chicken Soup is supposed to be good for you when you feel sick. Coordinate a party of strong men for some authentic 19th century cooking to help Ron do some construction work. That might save you some time. I love you guys bringing history to life by actually living it! Maybe in the distant future, after you've built your house, settled in, lived a little on the land, your next project could be creating an Air B&B for families to experience and learn the life that you live on the land, rustic and "inconvenient." That would be a fantastic experience for visitors. You will have a demand for that.

Nice video, R & J! That is a nice wreath. My hubby & I will be heading to Williamsburg on Thanksgiving week specifically to see the wreathes. I'm so excited! When I lived in VA I would go with friends to photograph the wreathes. They are each so unique and beautiful! Many of the shop wreathes represent the shop goods. So if its a sewing shop, the wreath might be made up of cloth, thimbles and needles. It really is worth the trip to see what each establishment comes up with. It's also quite a romantic place for a possible honeymoon. Just sayin'... 😊 By the way, some of my ancestors were German and settled in SW Indiana. My great-grandfather, from that German heritage, was a horse trader and my grandmother said they had to move around a lot because of it. I guess horse traders were a bit like used car sellers. They would often get an older horse, doctor it up to look better than it was and then, sell it. Of course, that didn't fare too well with some people which is why they had to move so much. At least, that's what I was told. 🙂
