its sad she had to have her leg taken when the cancer spread and made her die anyway :( back in 1991 when this film was set, the true story was that cancer like this is very rare and more teens died of cancer in the 90s than they do now, its one in 7 now instead of 7 out of ten

See the Terry Fox story. I would rather die from cancer than lose a leg. A leg is too precious!!! It is disgusting that if I was a minor, I would not have a choice to refuse treatment!!! I would have told those money hungry, power hungry, doctors and nurses to fuck off and get cancer themselves!!! Today, amputation is less common, due to limb salvage surgery. See osteosarcoma survivors, on internet.
