I think this guy is a really good actor. I really liked him in the "introductions" scene. He seems really genuine and believable, like he's really feeling these emotions.

@Jodi I thought that might be him! He was my PT. Wasn't sure cuz he had been wearing a mask when I met with him. But, I just found out that he used to be a singer, dancer on Broadway, etc. Wow. I loved a chorus line.

No this movie is not as good as the original Broadway production but it is a good movie musical. This is one of my favorite monologues in the show.

Using the original play script, I did this monologue in high school and later college drama

Anyone else hate how this scene was done? This is one of the most emotionally riveting scenes in all of musical theatre, and for some reason the filming kind of drives me crazy. The cutting, the background music, it just feels wrong.

Absolutely. It’s alllllllllllll wrong. And they butchered the monologue. I get it was 1985 but wow. And I don’t find his acting effective either. This is a film that could stand to be redone - but only with the right director and cast.

i feel like they rushed it, the scene is so emotional and special because after all the comedy and big numbers it's just a quiet and slow monologue. it feels so intimate and realistic because paul is sharing something he was hasitating about most of the movie/show, in a stage version you can feel the audience expecting every line in absolute silence but here there's not much tension
