I think about Ron Gilbert and his indictment of backwards puzzles in nearly every game I play, since they are just as common now as they were in classic adventure games. His blog, The Grumpy Gamer, is outstanding, still gets updated, and should be considered required reading for aspiring game developers and anyone looking to understand more about game design (AKA anybody subscribed to this channel)

Bitter but of so telling! I was a great admirer of the Secret of Monkey Island and talked with Ron about him designing Star Trek II (whatever Judgment Rites would have ended up titled). Alas, when the time came, he was involved in another project. Never actually met him, either, so far as I recall. Thanks for reading their poem, Tim!
