A Cigar and Barrel Board made Using our #LongMill
You know I really enjoy making unique projects and this is another project that falls in that category! Personalized for the recipient!
I used Five tool paths to create this unique Gift.
There once was a time when ashtrays were an essential element of nearly every home and business in the entire world. Ashtrays from the past were designed with quality, form and function ideals. They were decorated in every possible decor imaginable, and elevated to an art form by the major designers of the eras. Most ashtrays from yesteryear were made by hand of quality durable materials. As a part of everyday life they were used as decor focal points, admired for creative qualities, given as gifts and kept as mementos.
As the population began to understand the dangers of smoking, design and production of ashtrays declined. The new millennium brought finality to the demise of the ashtray and at the turn of the 21st Century production nearly ceased worldwide. Smoking was banned in most places. Modern manufactured ashtrays became a rarity. Cigar ashtrays, which did not receive the same scorn as cigarette ashtrays during the banning years, were still available in a few styles provided by the cigar maker at cigar stores. But for the most part a consumer looking for a quality ashtray could not find one to purchase.
This is when Big Ashtray came on the scene, filling the void for ashtray shoppers. In 1999 Big Ashtray opened online and offered beautiful quality made ashtrays from the past. Smoking accessories from the beginning of the 20th Century through the Art Deco period and Mid-Century Modern era were re-discovered and offered to the public for sale once again. Because antique, vintage and retro ashtrays were made so well, many survived the ages in fine condition. Those who knew where to find them could obtain the distinctive, quality ashtrays made by generations before.

After reading this article I knew right away how to create a another unique gift for a very special person. I researched tons of designs and felt that a simplistic design was going to be the most popular for the intended recipient. And, making this unique gifts from a couple of cut-offs of Cherry was a no brainer.
So, follow me as I take you step by step through the creation of my latest project using my favorite tool! The #LongMill from sienci.com/?ref=Buckyscustoms
This week’s Video was inspired by an Individual whom I’ve known for nearly 20 years. His passion for life and Family has always been an inspiration to me! Although he doesn’t need the finer things in life, he values them! He is a successful business owner and has earned his place in this world as a true professor of good morals and honor. He occasionally smokes a cigar and sips on his favorite whisky while he relaxes and thinks about what is expected in the days or weeks ahead. I am proud to say he is my Friend.
In this Video you will find An in-Depth tutorial with step by step instruction on how to Design and Build a Wooden Cigar and Barrel Board! Including: Free Carveco files! Check out the link below and download this projects files.
If you can think of it, you just might be able to make it! And, “What if” you could make it on your own #LongMill from sienci.com/?ref=Buckyscustoms !

This is a project after my own heart. Being a cigar smoker and whiskey drinker myself, this is perfect for me!! Theres not enough "thumbs-up" that I can give for this video, you did a fantastic job and it really looks amazing. That's a great idea putting the epoxy in the ashtray part too. Thank you so much for all the videos that you share with us, your tutorials and the time that you put in to making these great videos. I truly appreciate it and I hope you have a great New Year and stay safe and healthy.

Being a cigar, whiskey and Longmill lover, sometimes you come across a video that punches you in the head - duh - I have a CNC I can make a Cigar Ashtray! Love the design, the spot for the whiskey and lighter. The story in your description is right, unless you have an ashtray from the past or maybe one of those brand specific Cigar ashtray's - they are a forgotten decoration. Finding something these days is tough even at resale shops. Excellent video, great inspiration and as always very informative. It's inspired me to come up with my own design and toss the old glass bowl never intended for an ashtray. All the best in the New Year!

How did you get around the Z axis issues? Also, the first pass for the feet program is an overly aggressive cut...
@BuckysCustoms
@BuckysCustoms 2 жыл бұрын
Changed the safe Z height to 1" instead of 2". I did rush it a little although the 1/4" Ball Nose from Sienci Labs toughed it out! Besides, sanding is fun! lol

@@BuckysCustoms did you change it in your gsender? Mine said it was set at zero so I ended up starting each program at line 8 as a work around.

@@mikewentink1798 Initially yes. Then I changed the toolpath in Carveco and Re-Saved it. I assume you are using my file? I will check the GCode file on the drive. It is possible I uploaded the incorrect file. Thank you, Mike for your input on this.
