Thanks so much for making these videos, Beau, I really look forward to them. When I was younger I spent a lot of time on the beach looking for fossils in the sandstone cliffs in the desert looking for minerals and Indian artifacts. Your videos really bring back the joy I had every time I found any little thing.

That camera you found is called a Kodak vest pocket camera. It was made mostly in the 1920s until the early 30s. It takes 127 film, but even if there is film inside, it would be destroyed because the camera is not waterproof.

I have a question for you. How is it that lead cast bullets end up in streams? You seem to find a lot of them there. They also seem to be in good shape when you find them. Are these bullets that never struck an object when fired, landed on the ground, and were washed into a stream? Thanks for taking the time to post your work as I always you videos interesting.

Hi Beau, After watching your vids for a while, I've begun to want my own metal detector for beachcombing (because why not?). I'm no hard core treasure hunter, but want to have a fun time without being fruitless. From what I've read, I'd want something that can go past 6" depth and doesn't just detect coins. The Garrett AT Pro looks sweet, but I've got a budget of ~$400. What would you recommend? Thanks, and any luck/updates with the 1911?
@GtForLife12310 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks for the reply. Is it on an electrolyte soak? Can't wait to see it. I never considered used detectors. Thanks!
@GtForLife12310 жыл бұрын
No way in hell I'd try and fire it. It's a 1911, so it *might* be operational, but I wouldn't put my faith in it; please don't, either. Cool find nonetheless. If you distinguish a serial no. and end up running it, please do make a update vid.

@CorgiDoom188110 жыл бұрын
early 20s to early 30s
@brendanbullock946810 жыл бұрын
Believe you'll find that's actually a camera from the mid 40's to early 50's - very similar to a Kodak Medalist, looks like it is also a rangefinder and takes 620 film. Very cool find. Top of my detecting wishlist is finding a tintype, but an old camera would be way up there as well...
@2005GLI10 жыл бұрын
***** now this may sound crazy but is it possible to see if there is any film in it.
@brendanbullock946810 жыл бұрын
2005GLI Very good chance there is still film in it... Chances are its toast at this point, though some detected cameras going back as far as the 40's have been dug and had their film developed with success - one from a WWII trench which was probably the most amazing. You'd really have to pry the back off this one as it is likely quite corroded... If you do, make sure to do it in pitch darkness! Then you'll have the challenge of finding someone to attempt developing that odd format of film - would take a very specialty place, or artist with the right setup...
@CorgiDoom188110 жыл бұрын
Brendan Bullock Im pretty sure its a folding camera that takes 127 film because looking at its size because it looks too small to be 620 or 120. Also most folding cameras have blank backs like that with the film viewing dot. I cant see it being anything else than a folding camera.
