He never toured outside of the US!! He did over 1500 concerts. He didn't do many interviews or press conferences. He retained a certain mystique which has turned into this undeniable legend we have today.

Well, since it was rudely cut off before the end of Elvis's comments to the audience, here is what he said -- "Until we meet again, may GOD BLESS YOU as HE'S BLESSED ME!" A man of humility, grace, and sense!

He knew the song was silly, and remember he loved and grew up on Gospel music. This was 1956, and he was new on the National scene and the most talked about new celebrity. In June he did a much more sexy version of this song on The Milton Berle show, followed a few wks later appearance on The Steve Allen Show, where he was made to dress in a tux and sing this to a real hound dog. Berle received 400,000 negative letters from viewers, and then called Elvis’s manager Tom Parker to tell him he had a real star in Elvis. Due to Steve Allen beating Ed Sullivan in ratings, that wk due to Elvis appearance, Sullivan relented and booked Elvis for 3 appearances for a record fee. Sullivan had previously said, he’d never have that vulgar boy on his show. In early 1956, The Dorsey Brother’s had Elvis on 6 wks. They were a far less popular variety show, but the viewers increased as the word spread about Elvis. I was 11, so while I knew about Elvis and had purchased Heartbreak Hotel, after it was released in Jan. 56, my parents didn’t watch the Dorsey Bros show. Let me tell you that by Sept. 1956, my entire class tuned into watch him on Ed Sullivan’s show. I sat right in front of the TV, and turned around to see my dad snickering at seeing Elvis. There were over 50 million viewers, and on each show they brought out Elvis several times.

He was warned by Ed Sullivan to not move much, due to the uproar over Elvis’ appearance in June on The Milton Berle Show. So Elvis just used his eyes, smile and facial expressions even more. He had a great sense of humor.

These are his early shows n girls were just getting to know him. One early show he did walked back stage n said " why are the girls screaming " They said " just keep doing what your doing" Sometimes he would walk on stage n you couldn't hear a word he was singing One time the girls were crazy n was tearing up the stage n they had to get Elvis off stage before they would jump on him. I listened to Elvis since 1956 n yes im old now but Elvis music keeps me young

And the Beatles said the reason they stopped doing tours was because of the noise of the fans! And it was tiring doing weeks at a time! 🤤 Omg Elvis did MONTHS of touring...got almost ripped to shreds and still carried on...even in his vegas yrs he did 2 shows per day!!!! Every day! The Beatles hid in a comfy studio & had the cheek to slate Elvis despite him being their inspiration...they said they wanted to see the young Elvis - they didnt exactly stay young & do the same type of music!! Ridiculous comments, jelousy is a sad trait. Even now paul mccartney goes on about Elvis but ive noticed now he's changed to saying more positive things coz the negatives got him nowhere! Elvis is the forever legend...🤘🏻🙏😍❣

This was the beginning the very first. His moves changed after he stopped making movies and went to Vegas. Totally different era and different Elvis. During the movie phase the his manager did not allow him to do concerts. After Vegas he started touring until his death. I read that he did over 1000 life performances. That’s amazing because he died at age 42. His short career lasted about 20 years. Please continue your Elvis tourney. Love to watch your face anticipation and genuine reaction.

Great reaction, but I have a little warning for you. Elvis fans will get on you if you stop the video before it's over. At the end of this one Elvis said to the audience "until we meet again, may God bless you as He's blessed me". Elvis performed almost 1,700 concerts between 1954 and 1977. And between being in the Army and making movies from 1958-68, he only did one benefit concert in that time period. His manager didn't allow professional filming except for when they made a couple movie documentaries in 1970 and 1972, the TV appearances in 1956 and 1957, and the two TV specials in 1968 and 1977. The Aloha From Hawaii concert in 1973 was the first one carried by satellite to almost 40 countries around the world and shown on American TV a few months later where more people watched it than watched the first moon landing. The world population was just under 4 billion at the time, and over 1.5 billion watched. Elvis made 31 movies, and most of them contained a lot of songs, so you'll be able to react to those clips as well as his live performances. And don't neglect studio versions of songs that weren't performed live or weren't filmed. If you do, you'll miss out on a lot of incredible songs.

Couldn't agree more, print it out Jigsaw. Remember that many great songs by Elvis has no livevideo. Watchout for the new mixes with Philharmonica Orchestra in the title, real Elvisfans don't like these tempered versions, where they drowns Elvisvoice with extra violins, trumpets a.s.o. that also makes the music lose it soul.

Barely 21 & Elvis came to us fully formed lol Such a unique beautiful soul..never took his fame seriously nor his fortune...a generous, funny wonderful guy...but hated at the beginning, he wasnt allowed to really cut loose on tv coz they saw him as the devil!!! He only went on tv coz the presenters realised he was the biggest new thing and wud get them big ratings...ed sullivan said he'd never have him on then he ended up loving him lol Lots of hatred & lies thrown Elvis's way but he ignored all of them & just did his sexy thang...eventually becoming loved by all who met him , saw him or heard him...😍🙏🤘🏻

Just because you've seen Elvis perform a song doesn't mean you shouldn't check out other versions of it. It was said that he never performed the same song exactly the same way twice. You might want to watch this: ELVIS PRESLEY - HOUND DOG - REMASTERED 3-D SOUND (2:39). And he didn't have to dance like crazy to get the girls going. As proof, could you add this one to your reaction list? Elvis Presley "Love Me" on The Ed Sullivan Show (3:08).

So many things to be said about this. I'm glad you like it. Yeah he did actually go off on the very first Loop through it but I think your eyes were closed with your hands clapping. But then when you said later that he was stopping, well, he was stopping in a Crouch up on his tippy toes like a ballerina would do in tow position. That takes incredible core strength. And yeah he never truly went off because he was warned that he could not do that after his earlier appearance that year in the spring of 1956 on the Milton Burrell show where he did totally go off and it set off a firestorm. If he would have done it they would have not shown it. And half the time they started filming him from the waist up anyway after that Milton Berle show so that was his way of just demonstrating control over the audience despite those ridiculous ignorant constraints they tried to put on him. One of his most humiliating experiences was when a judging Florida said that he would be arrested if he wiggled his hips and they had him sing to a hound dog on another show around that time and so what he did even though he said later that it was humiliating, was he didn't move his body at all but he held his little pinky finger up and moved it suggestively while he sang this song. And just the same, all the women were screaming, laugh. What an interesting character was and think about the fact that he's only 20 years old at this point maybe 21 at most.

This was how he performed in the very beginning 1956. He was censored for his moves and after this he was filmed only from the waist up. His manager as able to make more money by Elvis doing movies and he was not allowed to perform live until his contract ended. During the sixties many new performers including the Beatles gained popularity and Elvis felt he needed to comeback to life concerts in 1968. Only four concerts were recorded until his death in 1977. However, there are some documentaries about his life including the biopic in 2022.

As others have said, that early Milton Berle show in June of 1956 is what set the world on fire including people loving him and absolutely hating him. He got so many hardcore racist responses from that. It was insane. You can watch some of those reactions in the various documentaries floating around KZbin like Elvis and the black community Parts one and two. But that's what got him on to the Ed Sullivan Show finally which was the main thing but then they would only film him from the waist up for the most part. Which is why he wasn't afraid to go into movies at first so he could do whatever he wanted. But then the colonel locked him into an endless contract of just mediocre movies and once he finally broke free you can tell, he immediately went back to creating a fantastic band and doing live performing, which was announced to the world largely by that 1968 Comeback Special which I see you have already done a couple songs from like trying to get back to you and if I can dream, the Martin Luther King tribute.

He was holding back on purpose. His movements were considered vulgar at the time. He was told often to either control himself or they wouldn't allowed him on TV. Some shows would only film him from the waist up just in case. I can only imagine what great footage we would have if they didn't do that.

Elvis always loved to joke about on stage, until around the last three years of his life, when he was very sick & exhausted. There had been massive controversy over his dance moves when he first started performing at 19 years old. He was already the world’s first superstar when he appeared for the first time on the Ed Sullivan show, & he would have been told by Sullivan to tone down his dance moves. But even these tame dance moves had thousands of complaints being sent in to Ed Sullivan, calling Elvis vulgar & disgusting & demanding that he never be allowed on television again. Ed Sullivan vowed he would never have him back on, but after his competitor Milton Berle’s ratings shot through the roof, Ed Sullivan reluctantly did have Elvis back at least twice. However, unlike Milton Berle who always showed Elvis performing from head to toe, Ed Sullivan would only allow Elvis to be filmed from the waist up, so as to avoid any more complaints. Milton Berle genuinely loved Elvis & took great joy in having him on his show, & Elvis was genuinely such a polite & respectful young man, that even Ed Sullivan said some lovely things about him, when Elvis appeared for the last time on his show when he was 22 years old, before he was drafted into the army. Elvis had already made at least two Hollywood movies by that time.
