I love watching these live versions of Elvis back in the early days. Hound Dog is a great song! This was performed on the "Milton Berle Show" in 1956. He also appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. His movements were considered scandalous to show on TV. Some shows only filmed him from the waist up.

Hound Dog is a song, written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The best known version is the July 1956 recording by Elvis Presley. Which ranked number 19 on Rolling Stones list of the 500 Greatest Songs of all time in 2004. Another great Elvis song you needs reacts to is. Elvis Presley - That´s Allright Mama. Thanks Sarah! For great reactions to Elvis Presley.🙂

I am 70, born in 1953. In 1956 I was 3 years old and my parents took the whole family including my cajun grandma to the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans to see Elvis. I still remember bits and pieces of it. My sister was a teenager at that time, so I grew up in the middle of it all. The fifties were a wonderful time to live.

I was tickled by Elvis' crush on Debra Paget. She was a beautiful young actress, probably best remembered for her role in The Ten Commandments (maybe that's where he noticed her) as the water girl lusted after by Vincent Price and Edward G. Robinson.

I believe the Milton Berle show was the first time Elvis was filmed from the waist down on Television, Milton loved him and Elvis made the most of it -- Ed Sullivan wouldnt let Elvis dance like this on his show.

You said it perfectly, he was like a shy *bad* boy! ❤ He was so funny just cutting it up on stage, that uninhibited style of his, like he just wanted to have fun. And so handsome!! 🤗🤗🤗

I'm English & although I'd heard the name Milton Berle before, I'd never actually seen him until viewing these early Elvis clips. I think he's really funny. As for Elvis, although born in 1951 & a fan from 1963, I never even knew these clips existed until recently. Great & love your reaction!

Actually, they say Milton Berle had a better package. He used to reveal himself backstage and ask people if they've ever seen anything like it.

Debra Pagent was his co star in his 1st movie which opened on Thanksgiving 1956. This appearance on Milton Berle, a comdedian who had his own popular show on TV since 1948, was in June 1956. There was great controversy over Elvis sexy movies on Berle show. Berle received almost 500,000 letters of complaint after it aired. Berle then called up Colonel Tom Parker, to tell him he had discovered a real star. Elvis was all over TV in 1956, and he sole quite a lot of records that year.

Sarah, the original version from Big Mama Thornton is worth hearing, too. The lyrics are more bawdy and her voice is so unique! Just like Brenee commented about 45 minutes before me 😊

Elvis at the end of this song started to dance around the Mike nobody expected him to do this, not even his band, he just did what he wanted, when his band said to him after, what was that Elvis, he said it was OK I knew you'd catch on to it. Xxxx

This was written for, and originally recorded by Big Mama Thornton, where she was singing to her good-for-nothing lazy man, sniffing around, but no better than a hound dog who can't catch a rabbit. Totally different song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6CrdaWwrJKFhsk

It's so unique that these days people are really not scared about appearing like full on idiots...they just write whatever comes to their mind first without the slightest regard as to how it makes them look! Well done Sir! Stay the course!

The greatest version of this song is the original which written for and recorded by Big Momma Thornton. Its sad that people don't know that. She is also the original singer of Ball and Chain which Janis Joplin had a hit with. But no other version compares to Big Momma Thornton.
@matrix5000100 Жыл бұрын
How do they know that people supposedly don't know it was written for Big Momma Thornton? After Big Momma Thornton 10 others sang it and elvis was the 11th.

I checked out your KZbin and it says your husband's German. So you need to react to Wooden Heart by Elvis. He sings part of it in German. Also, if you really do love black and white videos, I know tons of cool performances from the 20s-60s. If you really want to react to stuff like that, I can email you.

You see how Michael Jackson copied Elvis Presley 26 years later with 'The Moonwalk,' in 1982. This is 1956. But Michael had the last laugh... He married Elvis' daughter... Lol and lmfao etc

Looking at music videos today, thinking back then Elvis's dance moves were too proactive & most TV cameras were forbidden to shoot from the chest down. Now, our kids are watching "W.A.P". It's a shame things have gone too far for all our little 1s to see. SMH 💕🙏🏻✌🏼
