Love the book. I think anyone who lives or has lived in a rural small town will get some sorta feeling from it. Well done!

Thank you, thank you and thank you for explaining this tedious process! The book is something I aspire to as I also live in a small rural town in AR. Please keep up the inspirational work.

Fantastic work. I sit with a beer and the book often. The cover photo in person at Brooklyn Film Camera was amazing. Keep it coming.

How amazing, I love it, and your detail on sequencing etc it works perfectly. Definitely helpful to others wishing to make a book or zine

How did you like the experience of working with an editor to design the book vs having full control and doing it yourself (not saying you didn't have final say of course)? Next book think you will do it yourself or use a designer again?

Thanks for sharing this Matt, your work is a big inspiration for my own, I live in a small village in Scotland and make work about where I live. I would have loved to buy your book but just really can't afford it unfortunately, so really appreciate you sharing it here. Thanks so much! Very generous

Very nice project and a nice sensitivity to your locale. Might like to know your book publishing steps, perhaps in your earlier videos? Job nicely done!

Thank you for sharing the book and your process. You have inspired me greatly to photograph my small town. I have been in my town almost all my life. 29 years. Your videos have been a big inspiration for me. I love documenting with photography as well. I have been photographing my town for 2 years now and what it is now. I will turn this into a book as well. Would love to share with you, if your up to that. Where can I do this? Thank you for everything that you do! God bless! My copy just shipped today, can’t wait for it to come.

❤. I love the b&w but I would have loved to seen some of these in color (like the American flag one)

@@michaelnewmanphotography It would be fun to reshoot some of them in color for the sake of comparison.

@@mattdayphoto that would definitely be a fun comparison. I’ve been taking photo walks on my lunch breaks and capturing Columbia MS (some on film, some digital). It’s interesting what you consider when representing a town.

is there any chance of an ebook? i know it doesnt make a lot of sense, but as someone who lives in south africa which is out of the way of most of this kind of indie shipping, i would still love a way to access this

the decision to make one image on a spread vs 2 images...what is the thought process? an image you think is strong enough to stand alone? an image that is not connected to other images? Only two in a spread if there is a connection? I know it is all personal preference and probably no right or wrong to it just making the viewer guess why it was done. Like that you put the text at the end of book instead of beginning. I might do that for the one I am working on.
