There is evidence that the Shroud, venerated in France as early as 1350, is the Shroud we see today preserved in Turin, Italy.
This DVD takes the historical high ground as it presents the places, the written evidence, the changes of ownership, the various expositions and the first 1898 photograph that changed everything -- and brought the Holy Shroud into the realm of modern science and to worldwide attention for the very first time.
This DVD is the most authentic and definitive DVD yet produced on the Holy Shroud. It reports on the first examinations of the fabric and the imprint left on it by the body of a dead man who had been tortured and crucified. It describes the discovery of red blood cells and pollen traces, carbon-14 dating, and computerized image processing. The DVD features a one-hour documentary film, The Man of Pain, which was the Official Documentary of the 1998 Holy Shroud Exposition Committee and was granted the right to use the Vatican's Jubilee 2000 logo. It is the only documentary yet made to present High Definition (HDTV) footage of the private exposition which took place on June 25, 1997 -- and the only documentary to be filmed since the fire that badly damaged Guarini's Chapel.
This film was made with the assistance of experts from the Archdiocese of Turin, and includes footage shot in Jerusalem, the church of St. Catherine of Sinai, Edessa, Istanbul, Lirey, St. Hyppolyte, and Chambery. Scientific consultants to the project included Pierluigi Baima Bollone, Nello Balossino, Giuseppe Ghiberti, Silvano Scannerini, and Giuseppe Terzuolo. The Shroud DVD features 160 minutes of total content, in five language versions -- Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. In addition to the film The Man of Pain, extra features include The 1998 Restoration History, The 2002 Restoration History, Iconographic Routes, Backstage at the Filming, Extra Interviews, An Interactive Map of Shroud History, and the short films, The Guarini Chapel and The Face of Christ.

I think religion is a vestigial artifact from the time that the sentience of human beings demanded explanations of phenomena that was not yet understood. Wrong, He came back in the 1st century, when He said He would come back. He came back to judge the Harlot who persecuted the church. He destroyed their temple and city, and their age. We are now in the age that was to come. Jesus is the resurrection and the life, if you believe in Him you have passed from death to life. Biological death is not our enemy. Our spirit is alive, regardless if we are alive biologically. Our spirit lives beyond the biological realm. That is the hope of those who are in Christ, not to escape this world, we are in His kingdom, i.e. the New Jerusalem. Don't be afraid of living and making this world a better place, and have His will done on earth as in heaven. This defeatism is the programming that Christ's enemies have done to make you completely useless here on earth! The “Holy Face” from the Shroud of Turin appeared around the Crucifix on the Altar of our local Catholic Church. This happened at the end of a prayer meeting. There were ten of us present at the time, including the Parish Priest Father Michael Cronin, RIP; The Church was Saint Thomas, Abercynon, South Wales, UK. Some of those present had witnessed the vision on a number of occasions. This was a first for me, and something that I will always remember, and tell people whenever I get the opportunity. Jesus is real, the Shroud is real. IESU BENDIGEDIG. (Wonderful Jesus.)

There was an error in carbon 14 dating of the Shroud of Turin. In the year around 2000 the age of the Shroud of Turin was approximately 735 years old. The correct computation is 735 x e which is 735 x 2.71828 = approximately 2000 yrs. old.

Of all the ancient so-called "Holy Relics" of the Church, the Shroud of Turin is by far the most compelling as to its authenticity. In the middle ages until shortly before the Enlightenment period, Holy Relics were big business - pieces of wood said to be from the cross of Christ, rusty spikes, the skull of some early Saint, a cup supposedly used at the Last Supper, on and on. These bits of what amount to souvenirs were floating all around Europe in the Medieval period and found their way into the hands of wealthy patrons of the church or into monasteries and cathedrals where they were often linked to alleged miracles and venerated. These are thoroughly discredited now. But the shroud is of a different magnitude and quality altogether. Some have been able to reproduce images on linen cloth somewhat similar using methods that would have been in the grasp of a clever artisan of the middle ages. Yet all such reproductions are easily discernable from the Turin shroud. When examined, the method of the imprint can be ascertained and understood. The Turin shroud has not been so easily deciphered as to how the vivid image came to be imprinted into the thinnest of fibers on the fabric. And to this day no one has proposed a way to achieve the same results using ancient technology. The image is certainly of a crusafiction victim. And the wounds are eerily compatible with those recorded in the Gospel accounts. Furthermore, the image of the face is strikingly similar to very early paintings and mosaics of Christ dating from as early as the 3rd century. Some pollens found on the shroud have been confirmed to be from a particular plant that is known only to grow naturally in areas directly East of the Mediterranean. Of course this would only confirm that the shroud had to have spent sometime in Palestine in the past. Carbon dating done that showed the cloth as being no more than about 1000 years old has been discredited since it was demonstrated that the sample piece removed for the dating came from an area that was added much later in the shrouds history. There really is human blood on the linen and the linen itself is known to have been of similar composition as to what was being produced during the time of Christ. But of all the things that are inexplicable about the shroud, it is the very nature of the image itself that is the profound mystery. The most likely way such an image could have been transferred onto the linen (according to a man who studied the shroud - a secular Jew and not a Christian himself) was through a brilliant burst of radiation of some kind, emanating from the body itself - very odd.

@Hassan Albana ok about your first point, we do not believe that God killed Jesus. We believe that our sin killed Jesus, and that he sacrificed himself willingly so that the debt for all our sin was payed. Sorta like if you had a speeding ticket that you couldn't afford to pay, someone else could come and pay it for you and your debt would be forgiven, right? God is a just and merciful God, he wants to forgive us, but also he is just, meaning that he can't just ignore our wrongdoing, so instead His Son willingly came down humbly and took human form so that we would not be afraid and lived on the earth for 30 something years. He taught and preformed miracles so that we would believe that he is both man and God. Jesus knew before he was even born into this world that he was to sacrifice himself so that the gates of heaven would be open and we can have eternal life. A really important point is that God did not kill Jesus, we killed Jesus. Jesus also had free will, meaning that he could have chose to not die at any time. The bible says all over that Jesus willingly gave himself up into death on a cross so because he loves us so much. Does this make any sense?

I had read that the shroud had been carbon dated, and was several centuries too late to have been the burial shroud of Christ. It has been speculated the image is that of Jacques de Molay, leader of the Nights Templar. However, it's also been said the image is a clever forgery. Still, every aspect of the shroud matches with the Biblical account of Christ's crucifixion. It's up to each of us to decide what we will believe about this artifact.

If you look at the Shroud, Jesus left side was penetrated by the lance, not the right side. The upper hand on the Shroud is actually the right wrist not the left one. The swollen face is on the left side of the face not the right side. The flagellation wasn't inflicted on a bent back, the body was straight up with the hands lifted up high. the marks of the flagrums are shown all over the body, front and back which is impossible to be inflicted in that manner on a bent back.

That means that the people who knew him couldn’t tell that he was Jesus. Not that he was completely unrecognizable. Think of it like this, you see someone in the grocery store that you don’t recognize, they come up to you and say they know you, then you realize that you went to school with them but they changed their looks a lot. That’s the kind of unrecognizable I think they meant. Could you let me know from where you are seeing that he was unrecognizable?

That is an image of THE Jesus of Nazareth. The Shroud of Turin is authentic. It does not prove beyond reasonable doubt, however, that he was some heavenly genius but only that the basic outline of events regarding the crucifixion in the New Testament did occur and that he was someone whom got himself into serious legal strife with the established clerical authorities of the time.
