Yes, this is it. It is understandable that in this age many reject reports of miracles, and put their faith solely in science and so-called rational thinking, but I feel they are mistaken in doing so, and we should not simply dismiss the miraculous simply because it makes us uncomfortable. Truth is truth, and the Shroud is beyond our current understanding.

As a critical care, nurse, I can tell you that there is another reason that the blood from this crucified individual may not have clotted right away… He was tortured by Roman flogging… And there were hundreds of deep gouges on the man’s body, according to forensic pathologist that examined the shroud. So before he was ever crucified he was already bleeding quite a bit. And we know that he was deprived of mercy so he wasn’t being given water and that type of thing so he was not only dehydrated but he was also going into multi system organ failure. The result of bleeding and multi system organ failure is often a condition known as DIC… disseminated intravascular coagulation… Where the clotting cascade of the body has broken down. Another expert has also come forward and said that they know that there were different threads that didn’t match up from the sample of cloth that was taken… Because, as you shared, someone had gone in and done some inner weaving to make repairs, which contaminated the cloth sample in that particular area of the shroud versus skewing the carbon dating… we also know that the scientists who did the carbon dating took the range of dates that they came up with and then averaged them to come up with a carbon 14 date which you don’t do… You don’t average dates for that process.

Also, the repair patch that was dated, was dated to the approximate time of a fire in the Cathedral where the Shroud is kept..this is documented in the historical records of the cathedral. The gold casket the box was kept in was breached partly by the fire before the casket was evacuated from the fire.

The reason why carbon-14 dating analysis stated that the shroud was not legit, was because the PIECE of the shroud they utilized for testing was a part of the shroud that was SEWN in(by those who were the caretakers of the shroud at the time the nuns) to repair or maintain the integrity of the shroud after the fire in 1532 , in the Chapel of Chanbery capitol of Savoy where it was stored. There was damage from molten silver drops from the reliquary which the nuns attempted to repair , patches. It's like if you had a painting on the wall on canvas and somehow a corner of it had been ripped away or damaged, so you would then find something comparable to match it to material and composition( so it wouldn't be recognizable as a damaged piece) and attach it to the main body , sewn in it taped or whatever. It's that simple . Again what they tested wasn't the original shroud it was that piece or part of the body of fabric that was obtained from some other source( after the Fire) and sewn into , attached to the shroud. This is why the dating came back that the shroud wasn't as old and they deemed it a fake.

He is lovely, he cares, about the truth but even more believes in a persons individual ability & right to choose what they want to accept. If he writes his book & publishes it, I will buy it. He once said one of the Catholic priests he worked with was his brother & his friend (Ted Lecture), just as Jesus the man had said about his disciples. Barrie Schwartz is the current ranking expert on The Shroud, and what he has to say about it should be taken seriously. I've attended a number of seminars on The Shroud. Though the reality of it being the burial shroud of Jesus requires a certain amount of faith, concluding that it is a fake requires ignoring loads of evidence. I'll accept it as a fake when someone describes to me just how some medieval conjurer was able to produce this image -- a one of a kind image -- portraying technology which did not become known for several centuries afterward.

I have spent many wonderful hours talking on the phone to Barrie. He lived not far from Colorado Springs where my daughter lives. I mentioned that I was going to come and visit her and he suggested that we meet up for dinner one night while I was there. We both enjoy Mexican food, so we ate at one in Woodland Park that he had eaten at before and enjoyed. While over the years I had spent hours talking to Barrie about the Shroud, this time it was just free rein to chat about anything we wanted. His time in the Navy, his first photography studios in California. Cameras, film, previous marriages, kids, cars, even Mount Everest. When we talked over the phone it was always Shroud related. When we met for dinner, nothing was off limits. He gave me some pictures that he had taken of the Shroud back in 1978 (they are framed and, on my wall, now) and a book on the Shroud. Two hours of chat later spilled into the parking lot where we chatted for yet another hour. I did not want it to end. But end it had to so when we parted company, I shook his hand and felt such a thrill knowing that I was touching the hand of a man that touched the face of our Lord. The Mexican food that night was only OK, and the prices were high, but wow was it ever worth it to spend that much time with Barrie. I am so sad that I will never be able to do that again. Rest in peace, Barrie. You will be missed. Greatly. 😞

The shroud survived a fire.. Carbon dating can’t be done accurately because of that. The fabric absorbed carbon from smoke.. It’s not just the burnt areas that are contaminated. The entire shroud is contaminated. As a former wildland firefighter, your cloths smell of smoke because it permeates the fabric. If you can’t know the total carbon that should be there. You can’t figure its age based on that half-life and conversion to carbon 12. Check the dates and the fire’s historical date and see if they relate. 🤔

The shroud is a holy figure. I am convinced. When their eyes are closed it signifies a very holy person. On a few occasions in amazing visions I can see Jesus or John the Baptist with their eyes closed, or even if it's open I am never ever able to have eye contact. That's because they are too holy for us.

Enjoyed the interview. One thing more that I wish you had covered - The repair work that incorporated the cotton into the linen in the C-14 tested corner. You mentioned the cotton inclusion, but not how and why it was there. I didn't hear mention of the couple who first suspected the corner had been repaired by "French reweaving"; And of Ray seeing the interwoven two materials in his microscopic examination of the sample he was still in possession of - And how it amazed him and changed his opinion. It's really a fascinating part of the C-14 fiasco story. It should always be clearly explained when discussing the test results.

The image shows evidence of wounds caused by the Crown of Thorns. This proves that this image must be of Our Lord and not another crucified Jewish prisoner [the Romans crucified many Jews in the 1st Century AD]. Crowning with thorns was not normally part of the sentence.

The fact that the crucified man on the shroud was nailed through the wrists is enough for me. If it was a forger trying to hit all the marks of the crucified Christ he would have placed the nails in the hands. Plus the closer you are to the shroud the details of the image decreases. An artist would have had to have a brush mounted on a 10 foot pole and painted the image a minimum of 10 feet or more to even create the detail. Then there is the fact there is no trace of paint on the shroud other than minute flakes from art work from past artists pressing there finished art pieces against the shroud for blessing.

My question is? Is it possible today to take a photo of any other negative image like the shroud with old technology camera they used back in -800AD and get a positive detail image as the shroud? Using if you take a picture you get what you see, right? Back then i imaged from experience he expected to see a photo of the same as he saw, right or wrong?
@jimreilly917
@jimreilly917 Жыл бұрын
The most common photo image of the Shroud was taken in the 1880s, not the 800s. The reason the photographer freaked is, the image on the negative used to develop the actual image, was in fact the positive. If that makes sense. In modern photo and light science, I can’t remember where I read this, but the energy required to leave that image originated from within the Shroud….not from the outside in. And that a means of producing the energy and spectrum of light required to leave that image on the Shroud….is not reproducible with any modern technology. Let alone 7th century, or 1st century, technology. Including nuclear imaging technology.

The C-14 dating result is flawed because the cloth samples tested were from a corner of the cloth that was a patch woven into the original cloth by Nuns in the Middle Ages, to repair an edge damaged through handling. The splicing of the cotton into the original linen was evident by some of the fibers that were retained by Ray Roger’s, when seen under a microscope (shown in other videos). Wish Barry would explain this in more detail! He tries, but fails to mention the reweave, by whom and when.
@mercyunbound
@mercyunbound 2 жыл бұрын
I believe the C-14 dating is wrong because the technology is wrong, not because they took it from the wrong section.
@davidjohnston710
@davidjohnston710 2 жыл бұрын
@@mercyunbound Well, the samples taken were from a section that would have been inappropriate for their purpose anyway. On that we could probably concur. Barrie did mention that C-14 testing on the charred areas within the image would have been a more appropriate selection, since they must preburn samples anyway to make it carboniferous for the C-14 counter. If I’m not mistaken, this type of dating is imperfect as plants absorb C-14 from the soil at different rates, even between species and length of growing season. So, the linen fibers made in different years could yield different and inconsistent results. I may agree with you about the dating of materials using C-14 - it yields only a rough estimate at best.

@@davidjohnston710 the samples they carbon dated contained cotton, madder root dye and aluminum mordant. aluminum mordant is what is used to bind a dye to a textile. that is peer reviewed evidence. in other words the carbon dating result dated samples that were contaminated with foreign materials. the main body of the Shroud does not contain cotton , madder root dye or aluminum mordant carbon dating test would be ruled inadmissible evidence in any court of law.

Barrie, you don’t have to convert to any organized religion, Catholic, Jewish, Evangelical, or Islam. You can be a believer, CHRISTIAN, without being pegged as anything else! Why don’t people understand this? Understand what Jesus taught about our relationship to God and that He has the power of life over death, and what elements within our character we should have (gratitude and love). Wasn’t this what your old “hippie” culture was preaching in the 60’s - they just didn’t know to whom this should be attributed. God bless you with deepest wisdom!

Didn't Christ establish a Church? Not churches.
@davidjohnston710
@davidjohnston710 2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewcauthorn9731 the Catholic Church would like you to think so, and that Petros (Peter, in Greek a name for a rock) was supposed to be its linage (“upon this ‘rock’ I will build my church … “. But very shortly after that, when Peter refutes that Jesus will be killed, Jesus says to Peter “Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬ So, the part of the scriptural narrative that seems important is the recognition by people that Jesus is the Messiah (read that section) - that is what Jesus will build his church upon. Also, keep in mind that this was probably spoken in front of the major spring from the large rock face in Cesarea Phillipi, which was a shrine to certain gods of the underworld or hell. Jesus is using the physical geological formation as a memorable object lesson - on top of this rock cliff he will build his church (despite that there is the underworld being worshipped below), and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. This is analogy. Gates of hell, or hades, is what the opening of the spring was called. Not to minimize the importance of Peter to the building and spread of the early church, but what does such a declaration of authority by the Catholic Church upon Peter (using this interpretation upon the words of Jesus) do to all of the other apostles (Matthew, Mark, James, John, etc.) who did their part in spreading the faith? Would you include Paul as heavily involved in spreading a version of the gospel to the gentile populations? What about Thomas, who took it to India primarily? Was the word for “church” even used yet, in the sense that we use it today, when Jesus made this declaration at the shrine? I believe it was more of a movement at that point, followers, disciples, not a church. It’s a suspicious word usage for Jesus to have used, and could have been an intentional edit or addition by those who wished to consolidate a canon of books for the New Testament. I would have to see original Greek manuscripts before the 3rd century. Maybe a biblical text scholar would like to contribute here. For reference to the analogy I describe there are YT videos from Sergio and Rhoda, and also Appian Media. My point is that the Catholic Church has elevated themselves above all other believers by claiming Peter as their patriarch and their belief that Jesus somehow anointed him above all other disciples. This one-up-man ship, I believe, would never be approved by Jesus himself, as he wishes to have all people everywhere accept him without all of the doctrinal and ritual requirements of a specific church organization.

@@davidjohnston710 Let me recommend a piece of ancient literature for you to read. I am Protestant. It is called "Against Heresies" and was written by Iraenus a little over a century from when John, the Apostle died. Iraenus was the student of Polycarp and Polycarp was a student of John. Iraenus was a contemporary of Origen, a fellow student. Iraenus describes the condition of what was left of Christianity after the Apostolic period and brings it up to date. With this in mind, I followed through with what happened with believers under the Roman Empire up unto Constantine. Remember the things Iraenus spoke of when the church was given the keys to Rome by Constantine. All of Constantine's army was declared Christian overnight but yet were avid practitioners of the idolatrous Roman religion prevailing at the time. The Catholics found there beginning at this point of History. The victims of Rome were Christians from anywhere and everywhere. What happened was a merger between the Roman myths and Christianity. That became the Roman Catholic Church which later split with the Orthodox Church. It was a compromise of religious ideas between corrupted leaders of Christianity and the world in other words. When the Catholics start taking over a people, culture or country, those people must convert and call themselves Catholic and are free to continue their traditions , both religious and cultural. A portion of their prosperity must go to the Church. Jesus never taught these things so the Pope became His equal on earth. This persists to this day. Read what happened to the Anabaptists or even others who separated themselves from Catholicism and wanted to live virtuos lives patterned after Christs teachings. Look at those called Heretics and the satanically inspired tortures they went through or the deaths that were so perversely executed by literal sadists within the church or the need to keep people ignorant of the true biblical teachings. It is no wonder Protestantism arose and with help from the Almighty Himself. Up until the sixth century, Christians were known by what country they came from and each region had it's own leader, not the Pope. After the apostolic age, there was widespread chaos within the whole of christendom. Iraenus chronicles it all and in what direction who was headed. He even accounts for widespread, fast growing gnosticism. He knew who the true believers where and gave them direction. Nothing in the Holy Bible gives authority to the Roman Catholic Church. They insist it does but there insistences are all out of context with the flow of scripture and the real meaning behind the text. There is a secret that they are not aware of and have not uncovered within their whole history and it concerns the entirety of the bible and the faith itself. I am not ready to divulge it in the open, yet. It is very simple and cannot be spotted by the evil heart. Well I hope that you will locate and read Iraneus. He will give you tremendous insight into things both past and present as well as our future. My words will have value to you as you read His writing. Pray for God to bestow understanding on you and in your heart before you read. Blessings to you, fellow seeker !

@@peterkinberger9741 Thanks, Peter. I read some of Irenaeus when I was a student of religious studies in college, History of Christianity class. I don’t remember much of it - just that there were many sects and much bickering over doctrine, LOL. Couldn’t have been extremely healthy for the movement overall. I probably have that text in a dusty box somewhere. You know, there are some who think that Catholicism is the “woman” in Revelation 17. It is, of course, a symbolic description, but seems strikingly familiar. Bunch of old guys dressed in scarlet and purple, adorned with silver, etc. How they have twisted the original meaning of Jesus and the movement. It certainly uses feelings of guilt to capture, then the exclusive services of forgiveness and absolution to relieve the guilt created. No wonder they have such a country club mentality.

I personally have always believed that the shroud is the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The main reason is because the skeptics refute it. I have a tendency to believe the opposite of what the skeptics say whether it be science, government, or whatever it may be. God gives us clues all the time, it is up to us grasp it and believe He is showing us. I believe that when Jesus' received back into His body His Spirit, it burned the image onto the cloth...

BTW - an important question. I heard from one source here that you can see a portion of the teeth like from an xray. Is that true? Is there such an image? If so, obviously, this would be weird. Another Weird factor: Except for the quality of the linen, in several places the gospels indicate that the burial was performed "in the custom," "according to the custom," etc. Taking that at their word - here's what's weird. We should have other "Shrouds". If we can find one other one - that would break the "Weird factor." But until we do - and I mean with a similar image on it - even from today - we've got a case of Weird.

The one comment I loved the most was "your a jew, your one of the chosen people, what would you convert to? All you have to do is accept." That is truly awesome. Yahshua was a jew, he was a Rabbi, he taught Torah. Every single thing he said was explaining what was written over the centuries within the TaNaK. He said nothing new, he just explained what was written from the authority of being the Author. John 1:1. I'm not Jewish, no longer Christian, I just believe what he said, and what was written. I can no longer see him through a denominational lense. Genesis to revelation was one author with many scribes struggling to put his word down accurately to the best of their ability and knowledge.

Yeshua taught for the most part that traditions were wrong. The Talmud where it deviates from the Word is wrong and teaches that Yeshua's mother was a prostitute and his father was a Roman soldier named Panera. Talmud also still commits blasphemy by saying Yeshua was a dark sorcerer getting his power from the Devil. The Talmud is a manmade commentary of God's Word made by unregenerate enemies of God. The Talmud is not the word of God wherever it deviates from the Word of God and substitutes the interpretations of man as I just demonstrated. The Talmud IS the Torah to religious Jews.

It is intriguing that if you look carefully at the face on the Shroud, between the eyebrows Jesus is wearing a v - shaped mark, commonly found in images of Hindu holy personages. In Hindi this is called a tilak. Thìs is clearly more than just a photographic disturbance, and is too faint to be seen on the Shroud itself. In the gospel accounts of Jesus's ministry, there appears to be a substantial gap, between the account of his casting out money lenders etc. from the temple and the miracles he performed later, sometimes referred to as " the missing years ". Is it possible, as has been suggested, that he travelled to India and many other ancient lands, and acquired knowledge of magical arts while there. This would in no way diminish his stature as the glory of God in man, but it opens the possibility of a close root connection between these two great faiths, which is really interesting.

Dimensions are not correct. The VP-8 only found the 3D info of a bas-relief (about 3 cm deep) and not the 3D info of a whole body. It is a second operation, made from these results, which recreated a body with a program to add the correct dimensions of a body. We find a 3D body because we implemented a program to have a 3D body. But with this program, you can even recreate a body based on a child's drawing. This second operation can be considered artistic at best. A body printed on a sheet renders an image which lengthens as it moves away from the center and which breaks up with the folds of the fabric or simply the extension of its surface because of the curve it takes. The hair must mark in a more blurred and light way, even stick to the skull since it is the blood which must mark. The sheet must be excessively stretched so as not to end up in places with hollows also represented but only the full ones. For that, the mark is in this sense too delimited. Where have the sides gone? Why would the followers of Jesus have stretched the sheet like this above and below (what supports the body in this diagram?) so as to mark only the solids and not the sides? it doesn't make any sense. Oh and then he wouldn't miss a game by chance? Because given the small distance between the back and the front of the head, it seems quite incredible that the top of the skull did not print the fabric and therefore did not connect the two. The arms are too long (just enough to hide the genitals) as are the fingers. The body is really very large for the time of Jesus which is surprising, but much less when you compare it to the figure of the medieval knight. The sample for carbon dating was carried out by three sindonologists (hard to say that they would have failed on purpose) including experts in ancient textiles (if they are not able to recognize a more recent piece of stitched fabric from almost a millennium and a half so there is a big problem) on a rectangular piece taken from the bottom left of the ventral image and specifically away from any damaged or sewn parts. The sample was then sent to three prestigious independent laboratories recognized for their excellence in this method and whose results are consistent with each other and with the appearance of the shroud in history. The fires of 1532 added scorch and water marks (to put out the fire) to this one but that's not enough to discredit the carbon dating. The ad hoc hypothesis of contamination by a fungus which would have distorted the dating is contradicted by the calculations made by Henri Brock which shows that the fungus should then have brought twice as much carbon as the laundry currently contains. His calculations also show that the fire would then have brought twice as much carbon as the laundry currently contains if the fire only dated from 1800 and more than 5 times for 1500. It should not be forgotten either that any carbon dating is preceded by a cleaning phase to remove the carbon pollution. The ad hoc hypothesis of proton bombardment is itself such a mystery that it absolutely does not allow Ockham's razor to pass and moreover totally contradicts the laws of physics. Carbon 14 is not the only means of dating we have and the fact that it dates the shroud to a different date from what believers say (the shroud was woven with flax harvested between 1260 and 1390 ) is not synonymous with an error of the former but just a belief of the latter. There is an excellent scientific article which presents the carbon dating of 1988, the extreme precautions and guarantees that have been taken so as not to make any mistakes (great media pressure) as well as the immediate and unsurprising desire of believers to pass this dating for bad because it does not validate their beliefs. It also presents the subsequent unsuccessful attempts to contradict this dating by ad hoc hypotheses and by other datings, but whose methodological biases were too great to draw anything from them. The opinion also of Christopher Ramsey (director of the AMS laboratory in Oxford at the time of writing and specialist in radiocarbon dating) is reported there, who accepts the idea of a new dating with other techniques (tested these and not created for the shroud) in the hope that it will allow believers to no longer wallow in the denial of scientific results which in the long term will make it possible to clean up the scientific debate. The article in question dates from December 23, 2013, was written by Richard CORFIELD and is entitled "Chemistry in the face of belief". However, it is more easily found by searching for "The enduring controversy of the Turin Shroud". Quote from Christopher Ramsey in 2008 : "I'm always willing to consider any serious suggestions of why the dating might not be correct and to do further tests to investigate such suggestions. In this sens, i keep an open mind - as I would about any scientific investigation. However, my strong intuition, based on my experience in this field, is that the new hypothesis will not challenge the accuracy of the original radiocarbon dating exercise." This position taken by Christopher Ramsey is shared by all radio-carbon dating specialists who have taken an interest in this subject. Jacques Evin, for example, gives a very similar opinion. In 2005, Raymond Roger, member of STURP, published a study (R.N.Rogers, “Studies on the radiocarbon sample from the shroud of turin.”, Thermochimica Acta, 425 (2005), p. 189-194.) which claimed to show that the dating of 1988 is false because made on patched parts. It is based on the vanillin level of the fibers taken, on a Wiesner test and claims both to demonstrate the invalidity of the 1988 dating but also to date the shroud itself to an age between 1300 and 3000 years. Many problems with this study: We have no guarantee where the sample comes from or its storage conditions. This one was given to him by Luigi Gonella who claims to hold it from the 1988 levy but no proof is provided, only his word. Nothing says that it is not a fabric from a totally different origin. The heat from the Shroud's fire was more than enough to vaporize the Vanillin from the surface of the Shroud in seconds and even much less. Rogers' dating method is unique, unprecedented and therefore not at all well-established, unlike that of 1988, which leads to suspicion. The values of the Wiesner test were taken in a perfectly arbitrary way. The analysis is made on a surface sample only (by adhesive) and without taking into account surface phenomena. It misses the margins of error of various numerical values, sources and references while various errors suggest that Rogers probably did not pass the peer review or that he found a way to cheat with it. In 1973, an analysis of the pollens and the dust of the linen concluded to a passage of this one in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus. Problem: the study lacks considerable precision, other pollens which should have been there (if that was the case) are not, as well as the calcyte deposited on the pollens during the fire of 1532 and the images of the criminologist Max Fry strangely do not mention the traces of the fire (a good classic fraud in sight) which is explained by the admission of this one according to which he had taken reference images and not the real pictures of shroud pollens. For Marzia Boi in 2010: her work is neither in agreement with previous pollen surveys and their expectations, nor in agreement with the study by Gianni Barcaccia who speaks to us squarely of pollen coming from East Africa until to China, the two willingly forgetting that the Shroud was not always kept well protected but was even exposed to the public (the degradation of the pollen is therefore quite different from the ideal state they imagine) on different occasions during which an audience of believers from all over the world could come to see him. And then it is not really possible to determine with precision and safety the geographical origin of a pollen. A palynologist will tell you that we can (at best) determine the biological family to which he belongs and then see in which places in the world this family has been found over the ages, but there again it remains excessively unreliable and imprecise. The existence of the trace of the coins inside the eyes has never been demonstrated. It is put forward by several sindonologists (those who have never had the shroud under their eyes and who only base themselves on the photos) but refuted by other sindonologists and by several scientists who do not see these "pieces" when they observe the eyes (they speak rather of a pareidolia for those who believe they see them as well as on certain modifications that the photos may have received) and are based on the impossibility for a linen with such a seam to print signs if small on a piece that is too small. Covering the eyes with coins is not a Jewish custom.

In 1978, the STURP researchers brought to light porphyrin, albumin and bilirubin on the tissue (which is found in the blood) and therefore they concluded (this is where we see the when religious researchers cease to act as scientists in favor of their belief) that it is blood but no analysis is carried out to prove that the molecules come from blood. Problem: these molecules are also present in the pigments used in painting and in particular red ferrous ochre, the composition of which was found in fragments taken from different places in the shroud. We also find cinnabar and these two pigments are very present in the Middle Ages. The yellow tint to the body is due to a bone glue soak that has yellowed over time. In 2017, Giulio Fanti found creatinine and ferrihydrite on the shroud and therefore concluded that blood was present. Same problem as previous studies! For creatinine and ferrihydrite: ferrihydrite is also present in certain pigments and creatinine can easily be explained by the presence of another component also present on the shroud: collagen, which is an essential element of glue. 'bones and that we will find in certain techniques such as tempera painting, which makes it possible to obtain results similar to the study. In other words, there too it is not sufficient to certify that it is blood. Especially since the study is far from reliable. The evidence presented by the authors does not in any way support their conclusion ("the man enveloped in the ST suffered a strong polytrauma"), which is based instead on the simple overinterpretation of data from a sample whose history is unknown and a chain of dubious hypotheses not even making it possible to validate with certainty the presence of these molecules. In 1973, a medical institute analyzed fragments from the "blood stains" of laundry and aimed to detect the presence of blood. UV tests are negative, as are benzidin and microspectrophotometry. In 2005, geneticist Gérard Lucotte claimed to have found DNA from a man of Middle Eastern origin and blood type AB. Problems: his work is not published in a scientific journal but in a Christian publishing house and is therefore not subject to any peer review. Moreover, the sample used is of unknown origin (we don't know how he got it) and therefore not reliable. We can also add that Lucotte works alone, has no scientific recognition and that even the other works of his career are often more than controversial, completely biased or without peer review, which does not even allow us to qualify him as a person. qualified for this exercise. But hey, the author could have painted with blood (which remains strangely red) to make his work more authentic so it wouldn't mean much to find some on the linen. The STURP is an offshoot of a Catholic pro-shroud guild. The majority (statistically too many for it not to have been a determining factor in the selection) of those who participated were believers and some were even among the high places of the Catholic guild. There was a surprising lack of specialist in the relevant field in this team, for example no specialist in ancient fabrics or medieval art. The STURP also quickly got rid of Walter MacCorne, a doctor of organic chemistry and the one who was considered at the time the greatest expert in microscopy in the world because his results did not go at all in the direction of the authenticity. In short, the STURP was simply a good big scam which only served to give a "scientific" cachet to sindonologists and from which we only keep works without much scientific value, full of errors and statements without proof. In his Last Judgment of the Shroud of Turin, Chicago scientist Walter McCrone details 20 years of research on it. His conclusions are based on microscopic examination of 22 samples of fibers and particles taken from different places in the shroud. He concludes that the image was obtained from red ocher and a ferrous pigment. The Shroud artist painted in tempera the areas where the linen was supposed to come into contact with the supposed body so that a negative image resulted (more logical than if he had painted the hollows and therefore less identifiable as a fake). A vermilion tint based on mercury sulphide was then used to represent the bloodstains in the nailed places. Sindonologists speak well of later paint, added, or have some other ad hoc hypotheses but which do not come to undermine the credibility of the pigments discovered. Walter McCorne is also at the head of a laboratory specializing in the analysis of works of art and the discovery of forgeries, a laboratory which the supporters of authenticity hoped at the base that he would support their belief. but who backtracked on seeing the results, as they already did for the 1988 carbon dating. Contrary to what several sindonologists claim without any proof, the Shroud is reproducible and also has several replicas, for example at the cathedral of Chambéry or that made by Paul-Henry Blanrue, that of Luigi Garlaschelli, that of Jacques Di Costanzo, that of Joe Nickell and that of Henri Brock, even if the latter two mainly aim to demonstrate the feasibility of obtaining such a task (negative, proportions and low penetration) by the technique of tempera painting and with a low -relief. Henri Broch's experience is not unique and several other people have successfully carried out similar experiences by obtaining tasks with the same characteristics apart from the shape of course, rather due to the shape of the bottom - relief used. The non-existence of replicas, if this were the case, would mean nothing in any case: many works of art have no replicas and some techniques leave enough room for contingency for the result obtained is not predictable and therefore difficult or even impossible to repeat exactly the same. The work of Doctor Pierre Barbet (location of nails, anatomical details, traces of passion, etc.) was refuted in a 1995 article by Frederick T. Zugibe which shows that Barbet's thesis is based on anatomical errors but also that the result would not conform to the Shroud of Turin. He also points out that the various stigmata saints all received their stigmata in the palms and not in the wrists. Several texts and representations (from the Middle Ages or older) describe the tortures that Christ is supposed to have received. You just need to know how to read, to get help or to come across the right illustrations. The weaving is completely anachronistic since instead of being in single stitch (mesh weave) like all the fabrics that have been found from this period, it is a crochet weaving in triple stitch, a type of weaving which requires a tool which did not yet exist at the time of Jesus and which would only be invented much later in China: a loom with 4 heald bars with pedals. Literature for the subject: Vial, Gabriel, ‘Shrouded in Mystery’, HALI (The International Magazine of Fine Carpets and Textiles), Issue 49, 1990. Stoner, Joyce Hill, "Conservation of Easel Paintings", Routledge, 2012. On the 4-bar treadle loom. Tyrer, John, "Looking at the Shroud of Turin as a Textile", Textile Horizons, 1981. Øye, Ingvild, ‘When did weaving become a male profession?’, Danish Journal of Archaeology, Vol 5, 2016. For the appearance of this loom in Europe. Since magic ray is not possible (physics doesn't work that way) then the stain is due to blood. Why all this blood? The body should have been washed and then embalmed and the blood coagulated a long time ago. Especially since even with fresh blood, to succeed in doing such an imposing task, the body should have bathed in it. It's not his injuries that will have been enough to do that. The brand should be much more united with fewer details. Blood flow from wounds should not be able to cover the body but to have large areas without blood. Moreover, Luigi Garlaschelli proved in 2019 by BPA that "bloodstains" could not result from a horizontal flow but only vertically. Especially since we would be able to prove that the shroud dates from the first century, not the identity of the person on it. There could very well have been a fraud at the time, passing this shroud off as that of Jesus. Finally assuming that this part of his life (like so many others) is not just a myth. We finally have no contemporary trace of him, only historians and writers evoking the Judeo-Christians and several leaders of revolt (the reason why we speak of them in the texts). The very name of Jesus does not appear until much later. So the Judeo-Christians most likely had a leader, a guru who wanted to make a new religion for himself because Judaism did not suit him as it was, but was his name Jesus? Did he live as described in the Gospels? At least for the somewhat unrealistic part? We don't know and it's a matter of belief from there.

This representation does not come out of nowhere, it is only one stage in a long history of representations (pictorial or written) of the legend of the shroud of Jesus. The previous documents were not made with this Shroud in mind, but it was made based on them. For Pray's Codex and its famous image of the shroud: There is already the problem of the supposed signs that only the most convinced believers manage to see. In addition, the thumbs of Jesus (echoing the refuted work of Barbet) are not the only ones to have disappeared from the image. One can also find missing thumbs on other paintings of the same period without any connection with any medical reasons: as for the feet (not represented on the image, no more than on the shroud), the hands could sometimes be sloppy or hidden because of the difficulty of representing them with good proportions unlike the rest of the body. And it would be strange if the painter had taken this detail into account but not other much more visible ones such as the crossing of the hands (not represented, it is the wrists which cross) or even the uniqueness of the fabric because the shroud, on the image, is supposed to be the fabric in several pieces attached by strips and not the table below. And that is a typical example of overinterpretation of a document. We take a detail to make a whole story out of it, forgetting the most important elements of the image, the context, etc. Nudity is not in favor of authenticity contrary to what certain authors evoke. The hands joined at the level of the sex (and the lengthening of the right arm by about ten centimeters) already make it possible to hide the nudity of Jesus, especially since Europe saw the development of macabre art in the 13th century, which comes with its share of nudity and corpses. It is also much more logical to represent the naked body because we do not bury dressed corpses, especially not among the Jews in the 1st century. If really only the "sacred" texts count as is the case for some believers, the Gospel of Saint John speaks of strips and not of a 4m sheet. The various data collected, which not only refute the hypothesis of a bi-millennium origin and also conclude that it originated in the Middle Ages, are also perfectly consistent with each other and with the fact that the period in question is synonymous in Europe with an immense traffic in relics and fakes. The negative technique is nothing new in the Middle Ages, its first uses are visible from the beginning of parietal art in the Upper Paleolithic, in the Aurignacian. For the Italian study published in April 2022 : Realized by a team having already made fruitless studies because too biased on the shroud. Liberato de Caro is a believer author of numerous studies on religion while Giulio Fanti is a fanatic constantly publishing biased studies without peer review (for example his study in 2015 to prove the presence of DNA and that of 2017 to prove the presence of blood) on the subject. It is published in a journal of poor quality and allows itself a lot of abusive statements on previous studies and particularly that of carbon 14. So little reminders: 3 analyzes by independent and prestigious labs on carbon 14 against a single analysis by WAXS by actors WITH undeclared conflict of interest and having already carried out various biased studies on the shroud. The origin of the sample is no more given (precise location, size, sampling conditions, etc.) than that of the samples from previous studies carried out by the authors. This is a big problem because a sample whose origin is not clearly identified can hardly be accepted to validate a study since it could then come from a completely different place, why not from a (real) dating machine? of the time desired by the authors. We can only assume with a vague passage of the text that the sample comes from those taken in 1988 (no more sampling accepted by the papacy for a long time) while these nevertheless posed a problem for the study when it evoked carbon 14 . Allows himself to discredit the study by carbon 14 without any defect having ever been proven in the study, only suspicions raised to the rank of arguments and proof by sindonologists. Makes some ad hoc assumptions to justify its existence. Claims that what she is trying to measure could not give a medieval result because it would require high temperature and humidity (for which there is a lack of justification in the study) but suddenly forgets that the shroud has undergone the heat of the fire and the water that was used to extinguish it, a fire that was nevertheless used as an excuse just before to discredit carbon 14. Obvious contradiction. The study is also based on the assumption that the fabric would have been kept throughout its existence between 20°C and 22.5°C with a relative humidity of 55 to 75%, but the sheet was kept in churches for a long time ( whose temperature was much lower) and sometimes exposed or traveling, not to mention the heat of a fire and the water to put it out. We therefore already have no justification for the need for these figures but nothing either confirms and proves that the sheet would have remained at these temperatures in addition to not giving the exact source of the figures. Published in a predatory journal with little respect for peer review. Published in a few weeks (less than a month) and based on a dating technique developed 3 years earlier by the same team in a publication published in 2 weeks (it generally takes an average of 3 months for a study to pass the review by peers in a serious journal) having strangely no echo in the scientific community, any more than this study for that matter. The technique used was also created only for the shroud and is therefore not at all a proven and objective technique. There alone, it's already a very, very bad start and therefore makes it possible to refute most of the assertions of the study as well as to understand that we are very far from a serious study.

True. But who was that man who popped into her life just for that painting?? Then there’s the little Burpo boy whose appendix ruptured and while undergoing surgery was out of his body. He saw his father angry with God. Saw his mother making phone calls for a prayer chain. Saw Christ also. Later, his father, trying to find what Jesus looked like kept showing his boy painting after painting of Jesus and after hundreds, he showed him Akianne’s painting and the boy said - yes. That’s what Jesus looks like.

The Shroud of Turin contains no pigmentation, but rather an image made by Intense Light Ray. This is way before Gamma Ray Cameras were invented for medical use... Radiation could imprint an image as what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WW2. This occurs as about 5% of the energy released in a nuclear air burst is in the form of ionizing radiation: neutrons, gamma rays, alpha particles and electrons moving at speeds up to the speed of light.... Gamma rays are high-energy electromagnetic radiation; the others are particles that move slower than light... Just imagine Jesus emitting Gamma Ray's during His resurrection which got caught on the cloth which surrounded His Body! Today Gamma ray cameras, pictured here, also called scintillation camera, have been used to study the Shroud. It's also the most commonly used imaging device in nuclear medicine. It simultaneously detects radiation and enables the acquisition of dynamic as well as static images of the area of interest in the human body. On the other hand. the Shroud, if it could be called Art, anticipates X-Ray picture artistic photographic renderings such as that of Nick Veasey... Ergo no pigmentation in either... Also, the image of the Shroud of Turin if a natural process precedes the photograph process of Chlorophyll printing which is similar to X-ray with less radioactive isotopes involved. However, this requires concentration of ions and light bleaching as it occurs when a photon has enough energy to completely free an electron from its atom. Such a process is now used as an alternative photographic process to do Micro-Imprinting for electronic devices... The Science behind the Process of Chlorophyll Imprint is as follows: Bleaching occurs when a photon has enough energy to completely free an electron from its atom, becoming an ion with a net positive charge. Higher light intensity equals a higher concentration of ions, resulting in a surface that has the ability to react with the oxygen in the air. This reaction causes the bleaching of the surface. It is important to remember that the photo-bleaching Chlorophyll Processes work due to the photosensitivity in leaves (Chlorophyll-a) and flowers and vegetables (Flavonoids) respectively. Thus light intensity the process would not occur as time of year as well as the natural differences in the concentration photosynthetic organic materials between species and specimens will have an effect on the results.... Hence, some may place their trust in the doubting words of their favorite Academia point of view with the sole desire to quash the image of the "Man of Sorrows"... However, maybe the way before its time nature of the Artist of the Shroud precedes all, and thus not limited by Time and Space continuum as we mere mortals are... The Bible states that on the third day after his death and burial, Jesus was raised bodily from the tomb. His resurrection lit up the world like the sun. As John wrote in the introduction to his gospel, his “life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it" Cheers, Jesus is Alive!

Post mortem wounds do not bleed; so: 1. The body wasn't washed; 2. The image must have been taken in a very short time between the death occurred, before blood clotting.

Why does the possibility that the shroud does show the image of Christ either scares or annoys some people.
@GoodShepherdFilms3333

because it is a very heavy truth. people deep down inside have a fear of being condemned. when they see the shroud it gets underneath their skin and brings to mind this possibility. a very serious problem to be separated from God and light at judgment. there's nothing more serious and terrifying than that.

The shroud image is of Jaques de Molay who was a Knight Templar exected by slow roasting at Paris in 1314. The first mention of the shroud is from 1354. In 1988 the shroud was dated in the 1260 to 1390 period. If you wikipedia Jaques you will see a painting of him. The shroud was known to be in the possession of the family of another Knight Templar who was executed at the same time. The image was created by the heat and fluids from his body.

image over blood stains is not a contact image with a body there was separation between the body and the cloth at the time the image was created. also the image is not the result of heat. also the linen fibers of the Shroud have severe electromagnetic radiation damage on them equal to that of the linen wrappings of the Dead Sea scrolls we know are over 2,000 years old, the Shroud must be roughly the same age there's no way it could be from a medieval time

The image on the shroud is in the top layers of the fibres only and not on the inside of the shroud. If it is of Jacques, how did the image form on the shroud when his body was inside the shroud?

I am a Christian and would like to believe in the shroud. There are a couple of things that I need to mention which prevents my complete acceptance. His face is not marred as the scripture says neither does the beard appear to be pulled out. I don’t think this can be ignored despite my desire to acknowledge the shroud. Isaiah 52:14 NKJV [14] Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men; Isaiah 50:6 NKJV [6] I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

Thank you for your comments. I don't think the plucked beard means it was totally pulled out, but I am not a scripture scholar. And the face showed a beaten man with swelling and probable arterial bleeding over the eyes. And if everything were laid out so people could never question, where does faith come in?
