I adore this version. Her voice, her elegance, her enjoyment singing with an orchestra, her entrance a cappella, her nod to the conductor, her smile, her "getting out of my heart... this heart" and her connection to the audience. The final note... ! She's practically perfect in every way. One of the things that to me is remarkable about Julie: No matter how difficult the song is, the notes are... her face is always so gorgeous. Her radiant smiles shines through the screen and it seems so effortless. She's indeed the sound of music. The beautiful sound of a voice that is sweet music!

What a thoughtful, specific, and loving reflection on Julie Andrews singing one of my favorite songs in the world. As she aged and her lower register deepens, she continued to use her voice beautifully.. She is, truly, a gift to this world.

This is one selection from a lovely recording of the music of Richard Rodgers (lyrics by several Collaborators). It does seem Andrews is singing live w/orchestra on this video. But it is nearly identical to the recording so hard to tell, as she is a master at lip sync. In any case, it’s a wonderful performance and a great album if you’ve not heard it.
