What a lovely plant in a very nice setting. Thank you for that tip on testing soil drainage - just in case I try something similar. Here in NW UK, our soil is naturally quite shallow (mostly hilly grazing pasture), with cold, heavy, very slow draining clay below. At least that is fixable. locally. Hoping you enjoyed a peaceful Chistmas and best wishes for 2023. So sorry for all those so badly affected up in Bufallo. Terrible conditions.

EP! So glad you found the video helpful. Succulents are fascinating to me and I really wanted to find some that I could add to the landscape, but the clay soil is not ideal. Cold hardiness was my other concern. The soil can be amended but the temperature cannot😜, and so I’ve been on the hunt for some cold tolerant options. I also have a prickly pear cactus in that area and so far everything is holding up. I appreciate your consideration of the blizzard in NY. Sad situation for so many🙏 Thanks for the warm wishes! Happy New Year to you and your family!

Thank you for your information and the retail source. I'm struggling with my first ever agave /succulents garden in North Texas, but plan on making it successful. Keep up the good content and education 👌 👏 👍

Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment! Excited to hear about your succulent garden. I think it’s funny how these agaves and prickly pears flourish in the fields with zero attention, meanwhile in my garden they get fussy😜 I want to create a large 40” rectangular planter full of succulents but will likely use some non-hardy varieties to keep it visually interesting. If you find the time, I would love to hear about your succulent garden progress and any tips you have along the way. Thanks again and happy planting!

Thanks Margie! So far, it’s still alive(I did cover when we got under 20 degrees and it was raining).

Hi, thank you for the informative video. I will order one of those in the future. BTW, the expanded shale you referenced in your past video is a product of Texas and not available in other areas. Again, thank you, I wish you and your family the very best for Thanksgiving, I am about to travel to visit family and friends far away in an enchanted land, which is a much colder and wet place, Wales UK. Best wishes.

Try decomposed or crushed granite as a substitute for the shale. Have a blast on your tip to the UK!

Hello David, my fellow Texan! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and the kind words. Sounds like you scored a total winner if it survived that storm. Did you cover it?
