6:30 - I really enjoy your stories. You are the best new content creator that I've found on KZbin, and I've been recommending you to a lot of people, who like this sort of thing. However... as a veteran of the U.S. Navy, I have to protest the graphics you chose for this story. Famously, *THERE WASN'T A SINGLE U.S. CARRIER IN PEARL HARBOR DURING THE ATTACK.* Because of this, you showing exploding animations on top of a modern aircraft carrier (with F-18 jets on the flight deck no less) - a photo that is intended by you to represent the *WORLD WAR II BATTLESHIP,* USS West Virginia... is going to upset a lot of veterans like myself. I know, to a lot of you younger people, I probably sound like "Angry Guy Yells At Cloud"... but, you need to understand that 2,341 American service members *GAVE THEIR LIVES* at Pearl Harbor... 1,177 just from the USS Arizona alone. The details of these stories are important. Those men gave their lives so that the rest of us could live in a free democracy. So... the least you can do, as a content creator, is take the extra 10 minutes it would have taken you to find an accurate photo of the ships attacked during this event. And, assuming you cannot gain access to these photos for some strange reason... I would recommend that you just... DON'T. I'd rather stare at a black screen and listen to your narration (which is actually quite good), than get pulled completely out of the story because I'm angered by your disrespectful choice of graphic.

Being buried alive is really rare now a days, BUT being pronounced dead in error is still surprisingly common even in modern medicine. A friend of mine used to wash bodies before autopsy at a hospital while she was in school, she not only was warned it was a possibility that someone might just "sit up" or "wake up" all of a sudden to kind of prepare people for a possible shock before it happened. But she did encounter someone that just experienced a grand mal seizure come down to her for washing after being pronounced dead (they didn't think of the possibility of a seizure since the patient had no history of seizures of brain damage) and sure enough the patient sat up when she was turned away to grab something. She basically described it as "I see them sitting up, I scream, they look at me; and they scream, the security guard runs in to see what's happening; he screams. Once everyone is done screaming the security guard says into his walkie 'it happened again can you send a recovery team and cart to the morgue please?' Then I got the rest of the week off for shock."

@starlily32192 жыл бұрын
@@kremzle5688 So most elevators have doors that have motion sensors and if you force them they will open back up as a safety feature. But keep in mind they’re used every single day; This particularly elevator had faulty wiring making me think it was older and maybe didn’t have these safety features but it also could have been the faulty wiring. The programming could have just gotten confused cause it’s used so much, this happens with a machine at my work a lot that actually has motion sensors on it. You stress the motion sensors like setting them off a lot it fucks up the whole machine and makes it confused. So there’s a possibility he couldn’t get out cause the elevator was stressed that day or wasn’t set up right causing the doors to stay shut on him. Elevator doors aren’t easy to open if they don’t have that particular safety feature. I couldn’t imagine how stressful his last moments were, realizing he couldn’t push them open cause I’m sure he tired. This is a big lesson though to not trust machines to function like they should, like I said they’re used and stressed everyday, someday they’re bound to break or stress out. I hope this helps you understand better how he could have gotten stuck!

Yep but let that be a reminder as to how truly sick and cruel the Japanese are. Many youth today think Japan is this great nation because they have anime and I’ve heard many even accuse the US of starting WW2 and wrongly attacking Japan. It is so sad how uneducated our youth is because our schools refuse to teach history. My grandfather lost his brother at Pearl Harbor, and so he enlisted in the Pacific Front. The stories he’d tell of how disgusting the Japanese were. They would storm field hospitals slaughtering the wounded with their bayonets. And what they did to Americans, they did 10x worse to the Pacific Islanders and Chinese. He told me once how he came across a village where the Japs had killed all the males. Didn’t matter if they were 1 day old or 100 years old. They were all slaughtered with swords, knives, and bayonets because the Japanese didn’t see the villagers lives as “worth the price of a bullet”. Truly a disgusting people

Great video! Small thing, at 10:24 you said "Island of Hawaii". It's actually the island of O'ahu, the island where Pearl Harbor is that has Ford Island in the harbor (pic in the vid), in the state of Hawaii, back then known as the Territory of Hawaii. Yeah, I know, what a mouthful. I don't expect you to know this level of detail nor the terminology but I just want to put it out there since the 'island of Hawaii' is referred to as 'the Big Island,' which has the active volcanoes and not the naval base. Unless you're referring to something else I don't know about, the ships and navy are pretty much on O'ahu. Again great video, I appreciate your work. I lived there most of my life and my brother works in Pearl Harbor. It's very common for non-residents to generalize island names since it's only natural to refer to the whole state as Hawaii and forget that each island has their own thing since it takes a lot of effort to look into these things. To anybody that reads this, if you come visit, hopefully this will help keep some details consistent since you will have completely different destinations if you mix the two islands up.

I visited the mummies of Guanajuato. They reuse the graves and the bodies are preserved my the climate and soil composition. There was one mummy in the museum who was found with her marked arms over her face. Of the hundreds there, hers was the one that shook me hardest.

Heard about the men in the ship many times. 16 days stuck in an upturned ship would be horrifying. No way to know for sure but I highly suspect that if this happened today those men could be saved
@j.griffin2 жыл бұрын
People still get trapped in all kinds of ways and die before rescuers can get them out. They got 32 people out through the hull of the Oklahoma there at Pearl Harbor but the West Virginia was in a different situation. There was no way then and the problem would be the same now. If they cut a hole in the ship, it would flood it and if they tried to use a blowtorch it could explode since there was too much oil and gasoline in the water, as well. Survivors say that no one wanted to go on guard duty anywhere near the USS West Virginia since they would hear the banging of trapped survivors all night long but nothing could be done. In theory, many things could work. In reality? How long do you have and if the idea fails, will the attempt kill them anyway? They may not have anything to lose but which experimental method will you pick? It’s a rare situation but it still happens in slightly different ways. There are many sad stories up to the current time where people are finally “rescued” but not in time and just ends up being a recovery. Technology is not magic- it’s STILL trial and error and if it’s unproven because it’s uncommon it’s still a gamble.

I really enjoy most of your videos which is why I follow, I love the cave disaster or diving disaster videos, and the mountain ones too. But these horrible fates videos are so redundant. I’ve heard every single story from every fate video you’ve done from Mr Ballen. Not saying you are copying him, I’m just saying they are so common I get so excited and then it’s the same dang stories I’ve heard already. That being said, I enjoy the way you make your videos, & the genre of your content

I was living in a Dallas suburb when that elevator accident happened. I remember it well. It made me think of an elevator at the Old Courthouse in downtown Dallas. I think they've fixed it by now, but a few years ago I was trying to beat the door closed when it was going up, and got my arm in and thought "It'll open". But it didn't. It clamped down on my arm, hard, and started going up. Luckily I was in my 20's and yanked my arm out hard. Not too long after that, some poor guy got stuck in it like in this video. The back of his head was sheared off. That was one dangeroud elevator. Instead of fixing it, they had a sign on it that read "Doors will not open if blocked". That was it.

Your videos are really interesting and quite well done. The Pearl Harbor story is well known and very tragic. Your clip selection for that story needs work. Showing a modern nuclear aircraft carrier with jets and later a drone is obviously off. Otherwise, keep up the great work! New subscriber.

I was on a three foot ladder when I herd an old lady calling for help in a body bag. Needless to say I crapped myself and was bolting out of there when he was outside the room with a two way radio and one stashed in the body bag. 😂🇦🇺
