@@ProductivityTherapy you can definitely see the work that went into it. You made the kind of review I would want to both see and make myself. Great slider work. If you do this level of production into a once a month video on posture and productivity vs doing a review you'll mostly certainly blow up in success! I went out the day ikea opened and bought this chair and it was exactly as you reviewed it.
@ProductivityTherapy

Hey, sorry for the late reply and thanks again for the feedback. It's nice to know I'm hitting the mark on what some people wanted out of a review video. The slider was surprisingly well made, got a motorized one from Neewer with remote control. There are some issues with occasional jerkiness but for 1/3rd the cost over something better I'm incredibly happy with it.

I wish there was a caster/wheel option as that would really come in handy in my art studio. If I get this, I may search for wheels to add. Obviously, I would get some that have a brake/locking mechanism!

Really good review mate. Helped me make a decision between the Lidkullen and the Trollberget. Both seemed similar when I tested them in the outlet. I am always amzaed at the quality for price that Ikea delivers. One of the reasons why like half the furniture here in German households is from Ikea. And this review was great. Really made me decide on getting that one for work. I work at a small store and due to how much consultation I have to give and the "checkout" area being more like a bar than a normal cash register I can´t really sit down on a normal chair as it´s too low and getting up every 5-15 minutes would be quiet bothersome. But this is basically made for it.

UPDATE: MAY 4 The Trollberget has a higher minimum sitting height - 26" / 66cm than the Lidkullen - 23¼" / 59 cm. I incorrectly said both had the same minimum height. Apologies. This adjustment makes the Trollberget less appealing to me.

Thanks for this! I stumbled upon this stool on the IKEA website. I currently have a Nilserik but I’ve found that the curved seat is uncomfortable pretty quickly, so this stool seems like a good option. I have a desk chair that works really well for me but I like having that pelvis angle you mentioned, I do the same when meditating on a cushion on the floor and it makes all the difference in having a good active and comfortable posture. Now that we can only do order pickups and not test the product in store this review is really helpful.

Excellent video to tell me everything I needed to know when deciding whether to buy the LIDKULLEN to replace my hard wooden chair for working from home. So helpful seeing you demonstrate all the different ways you sit on it and move about on it and snappy, no-fuss explanations. The only thing I feel this stool is lacking is wheels to be able to scoot around if needed - would you agree or do you think it's suffice without?
@Dan-pr5lg
@Dan-pr5lg 4 жыл бұрын
I don't have a standing desk (yet), but was wondering how practical one of these would be - for now at least - for sitting at a fixed-height sitting desk for long periods. Even with high-end chairs (e.g. Steelcase Leap) I find that armrests, back supports etc eventually make me conform to the shape of the chair, and sooner or later slump. Switching to such a minimal setup seems daunting, however, as I'm looking for one chair to use all the time: I don't really want to have several chairs cluttering up the place so I can switch between them.

Similar situation here! Did you go for one?
@Dan-pr5lg
@Dan-pr5lg 3 жыл бұрын
@@thibaultdhaese4739 Not yet, I went to Ikea with a tape measure and found that the stool is a little higher than a standard chair in its lowest position, so there's very little clearance for my thighs under a fixed-height desk. That in turn restricts movement, so kind of defeats the object... The other model (with the leather cover) is even higher and actually doesn't fit under the desk at all when in use. So, I'm just going to wait and buy the height-adjustable desk and stool together.

I purchased based on your well done review. I'm glad I tried the chair, but I am returning it. At 5'9, I cannot make chair work to support me standing. It is not tall enough to park my cheeks upon while standing. I have to sit flat on top, why have a standing desk? Any other position, regardless of clothing, and I slide off because the seat is padded and tilts. I don't know the right replacement. Most options try to do dual duty, sit and stand, and I want one that only supports me standing. Thanks for your help along my journey, again, good review, and a good, well-built product for others.
@ProductivityTherapy
@ProductivityTherapy 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kirk, this is a super late reply. Yeah, it's not going to be the right fit for everyone. I'm 5'9" and I don't put it all the way up, I sit down on it a bit so the angled is reduced and it's less slippery. Check out my review of the Leanrite: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3TZn4xtqctrma8 It's easier to use plus the adjustment range will fit most people on the market. Since doing that review I'm changing my opinion in that the Lidkullen is the easiest stool to use but still requires a lot more work to use it properly.

Because I went and tested them in store and found the Lidkullen both less comfortable(smaller and less padding) and more slipery than the leather on the Trollberget. After watching this video I thought I wanted the Lidkullen, but after testing in person, it's clear why the Trollberget costs more - also the foot ring is exactly the same width on both! I really want this seat but for a normal desk. The desk is 75cm high, and I can see the seat lowest height is 58cm. But that flat right? When you’re sat on the front, the front will be less than 58cm and the back higher than 58cm. Therefore I believe my legs will fit under my desk... I can’t travel to try the chair but you can return it, but I’d lose money. Like this more than anything else though 😩 wonder if it is suitable

So the best and safest would be a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. They charge quickly and can hold a charge overnight. They're also safe under high-temperatures and won't combust like lithium-ion cells if they're overloaded or overheated. Thinkware has the cheapest one but they're expensive unfortunately. $250+ There's no other good options for consumers. You can technically buy a smaller 12V lead-acid battery and charge it on the side but most people won't do that. I do not recommend using lithium-ion battery banks, they're cheap, compact but not stable and I wouldn't want one in my car where it could catch on fire and your car along with it.

They only delivered half my order in the fall and I'm out hundreds of dollars :( So... Needless to say I don't totally trust them! BUT this is exactly the type of stool I'm looking for. I was wondering if the foot ring can be adjusted. I'm a shorty with a fixed height standing desk and I like to pop my feet up on a high ring when I sit, but it seems like only the larger standing desk seats have those. Would I need a foot rest, or does this rise up? Thank you!

What are your thoughts on the Core Chair Tango? More expensive for sure (a bit less than 600$ CAD).

Do you know how much the chair weighs? Strange that Ikea doesn't mntion this on their site. I am tring to compare this with the TROLLBERGET chair, and being able to move it out of the way easily is a huge factor.

The Lidkullen weighs 21.8 pounds with the Trollberget weighing 24 pounds. I believe I had to get those measurements off the Ikea UK website. Each country includes different information.

This was really helpful, thanks! But why wouldn't you get a stool-height task chair as the best of both worlds?

Honestly it doesn't work for me. I feel like it's designed for heavier people ... the cushion is so firm my but hurts. Is that normal.

There's a floor mat that's there most of the time. Otherwise keep your floor clean. The rubber feet will protect your floor.

Hi! I just got one. But the tilting seat is a bit hard, well, to tilt. It's normal or I am not just heavy enough? 112lbs
@ProductivityTherapy
@ProductivityTherapy 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm about 170 so you'll definitely find it harder to tilt. I did find the mechanism got smoother after I broke it in after a week or two.

@@ProductivityTherapy That's too bad! That seat was so cool looking! The design was perfectly accorded with my desk. I had to bring it back anyway, the seat is way too firm for me. Plus, if I don't put my full weight on it, the lift goes up instead of down! 😂 At least that means that the lift is powerful! I will find something else, i will try a saddle stool. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! Good to know and it's probably good I think about people with lower weights in the future. Too bad it didn't work out for you. The seats are designed to be a little more firm and your butt will get used to it overtime. If you don't want to go through that process - totally get it.

@@ProductivityTherapy Thank you too! I tried it for about 5 days ; I could not stay on it for more than 30 min. I can't sit on to firm seat due to my sciatic nerve; it gives me a big pain in the left leg and the lower back. But at least, it means the material will last for long! I buy a saddle chair and for now, it really comfortable! Once used to the new position, it felt very natural. Since the legs are not at a 90 degree, you are less stooped even when leaning on the drawing table. Maybe you can review this kind of seat one day. Can’t wait for our next video! ps: english is not my first language.

Thanks Machi! Glad you liked it and thanks for that feedback. I was using Nexstand's K7 to test it out for that gaming laptop. It works as that laptop is thick but for a thinner laptop I would get Roost's laptop stand or a knockoff version (not Nextstand's). I'm definitely going to do a review of them in the future for remote working tools once this pandemic clears up.

Hi, I’m on a low budget side so my intended setup is fixed standing desk (no height adjustment) and Ikea Lidkullen. My question is standing (w/o chair) all the time has major impact on my body, beside of tiredness?
