Best way to make sure that you're moving frequently with a standing desk is to always make sure your glass of water is full next to you. Not only will you have to move to refill it, but you'll also move when you have to use the restroom and as an added benefit, you stay hydrated!

i expected this to end as a joke about tipping the glass of water over when raising or lowering the desk

I used to do that, but then you have to pee all the damn time. Now I just drink a bunch of water after I eat, and then I don't have to pee as frequently (still the same amount of water in the day overall though).

i recently switched to a makeshift standing desk because of my excruciating hip joint. i've noticed SUCH a difference. this is great for people who have a sedentary work lifestyle. i'm working from home these days so i sit 80% of the time and use my standing desk periodically. this switch has helped so much with my tight hip flexors

Been using a standing desk for little over 2 years now. One thing I will note about it is that once you've accustomed to spending so much time on your feet, sitting becomes incredibly uncomfortable. Like at a class lecture or the movie theater.

I've used a standing desk paired with an anti-fatigue floor mat for about two years, and things are going well. I rarely sit, but I do frequently leave my desk to talk with co-workers. I have no back pain anywhere, but I'm pretty good about thoracic spine and low back exercises, and I think of the standing desk as just one tool in the box.

NOTE: This product works exactly as described. kzbin.infoUgkxguEIMc_Qwab-3QMTpF6jaRL80hiOOsIN It originally earned a four-star review due to a minor defect (see below). However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(!!) to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!

I worked in restaurants for 16 years (6-8 hours of standing and light cardio to slightly more intense during rushes) and never had anything except tension in my shins and a stiff Achilles tendon after work. friends. do lots of stretching without moving any parts of body. just sit or stand still and deep breathing while putting some weigh on the belly area comfortably and hold the breath long as possible via nasal pathways and breath out with mouth heavily. do that exercise b4 sleep at least 30 min a day whether you work sitting or standing. make a habit of it. you will be glad after few months. repetiton everyday. eat lots of vegetables and adequate amount of fruits drink lots of water and minimize the amount of meat. these doctors are awesome.thank you

I have that exact desk convertor! I've had it for the last 3 years and it's one of the best investments I've ever made. Prior to getting it I was sitting at my desk for 8+ hours a day and had terrible posture, with chronic shoulder and neck pain. That's all been resolved after switching to a standing desk and standing 70-80% of my working day. I just wish I'd done it 10 years earlier. Oh and be sure to get an anti-fatigue mat as well. Your feet will thank you.

I used to give out free samples at a grocery store. We had to stand 6 hours a day in an 2' square with a 30 minute rest. My back would spasm. I bought and used a gel mat, but the firm took them away. No stools. Sometimes had to do 2 consecutive shifts. I was thrilled to get my "sit down" office job.
