I posted a second video to my "Behind the Scenes" channel which contains most of the "tech talk" that Daryl and I had that day. Talking about cameras and various KZbin channels. I don't think we said anything that would be a surprise or new to you, but it's there if you want to eavesdrop on us as we compare the Action 4 to GoPro cameras.

FYI Port dickson lies in a minangkabau ruled state of negeri sembilan. The salai dishes are minangkabau dish. You need a sambal to accompany the dishes. With the malay salad ( ulam).

There are many discussions about EV's and what is termed "Range Anxiety". I would be very interested to hear from Daryl on how things are going charge wise outside the big cities. Has he done KL to Penang for example
@WanderEats
@WanderEats Жыл бұрын
Yes I have a few times since Penang is my hometown. Actually Penang to Johor isn't an issue at all with plenty of chargers along the route. There are cheap and expensive charging options which you may need to plan for though but usually the pricy ones (Shell DC Chargers) are always available and don't take long to charge. Going to East coast is another story although Kuantan have a lot of new chargers.

@@PlanetDoug I recommend you do a Vietnam run. Imho Indonesia sounds to me now to be tourist unfriendly as far as the immigration policies. I visited Bali n Sulawesi many years ago. Back then no such smartphone nonsense as you experienced. I get it to hv to register your phone. I draw the line that everytime I have to visit Indonesia I need to buy a new phone. I actually habor a desire to do a trans-sumatra road trip like what I did in Sulawesi n round island Bali. Having watched your troubles with their immigration it's on the back burner until further notice.

There definitely seems to be a trend in Indonesia to make things more difficult for foreign visitors rather than easier. I seem to wake up most days to yet another article about restrictions being placed on foreign tourists in Bali. And, as you know, I haven't had the greatest luck when it comes to extending my 30-day VOA. It always ends up being a bit complicated and time-consuming. And then I have had so much trouble with keeping my smartphone active while there. After all that, the 90-day tourist visa being offered by Vietnam starts to appear more and more attractive. I've recently been watching some videos from KZbinrs going around the Ha Giang loop and things like that. It starts to look a bit busy and crowded on those trips with so many foreigners doing it, but the scenery looks beautiful.

Are you going back to Padang? I thought your extended visa was approved.
@PlanetDoug
@PlanetDoug Жыл бұрын
Because of how long it takes me to edit these videos, the timing can get a bit confusing. My Indonesian visa extension was approved, and I got an additional 30 days. And I spent 30 more days in Sumatra. So that visa extension has already expired and I had no choice but to leave the country. So I hopped on the ferry back to Port Dickson. Here in Port Dickson, I've been working on editing the videos from Sumatra, but they're not finished yet. I still have around ten videos from Sumatra that I haven't edited or posted. My plan was to finish all these videos and THEN start posting videos from Malaysia - just so everything can stay in the right order and not be confusing. However, this visit from Daryl was fun, and I thought I would post the video right away.

Correction. "Salai" mean smoked. The dish you are having origin from Minangkabau from Indonesia

Are you sure daging/ayam/itek/ikan salai masak lemak cili api originated from Padang? I have been to a few Padang Restaurant in Indonesia and Malaysia but I never came across this dish in any of these restaurants. Used to be available only in Negeri Sembilan but available everywhere in Malaysia now.
@TheUuti123
@TheUuti123 Жыл бұрын
@@khairunna100 I'm not sure if salai is from minangkabau. Although they rarely sell it on padang restaurant but it's very common in daily food for daily consumption here. I noticed that many traditional gulai in minang culture use cili api in malay dish.

@@WanderEats Have yet to visit Vietnam. It's in my bucket list for ages. Itching to chow down everything Vietnamese street food. Which do you recommend? 1. Fly to HMC, wander&eat to the north, fly back or 2. Fly to Hanoi, wander&eat to the south, continue overland back home.?
@WanderEats
@WanderEats Жыл бұрын
@@CSChua 2nd plan sounds more memorable but would need to travel days in total. There are a lot more flights to HCMC from KL but for me, I would totally go Hanoi first and then head Sapa, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh and then take the train down south to Hue, Danang and Hoi An before visiting the highlands of Dalat and make your way back to HCMC perhaps via the coastal town of Vung Tau as well.
