I don't need the ship to be Min/Max with it's stat, requiring every spare inch of space to be dedicated to SCU... this is partly why I love the StarMAX, it's interior has room to breath, crew can move around it without having to squeeze past each other. The ship does what CIG does sooo well, pure immersion, it feels like a movie set. The central catwalk in the cargo elevator is such a great place to stand, watch and micromanage the loading of crates from - others can bring crates to the sides and from the catwalk you can position the crates very nicely from. The ship just has so much personality, it just ticks all the boxes for me.

And the cargo area with the catwalk also has enough space for small vehicles. Bikergang! One day maybe even with actual bikes.. (Ranger)

I've also found that it's much easier to cram vehicles in - not by physically parking them but using a tractor beam to put them exactly where you want and avoiding the frustration of the weird ground vehicle physics currently in game, lol. I've even tractor beamed a bunch of Pulse hover bikes into the massive engineering section upstairs at the rear (a fun but pointless exercise)🤣

The ship is certainly beautiful, but its layout is still bad. The C2 is just a little bigger than the Starlancer, has a very spacious interior with plenty of room and comfortable living spaces for both crew members and can carry three times the SCU the Starlancer can. With the right layout, it is possible to have plenty of crew space without sacrificing much in the way of cargo space. I think the biggest flaw of the Starlancer MAX is that it makes room for a crew of 4 when a cargo ship of this size operates much better with just 1-3 crew members. If they had rearranged the crew quarters and cut down on empty hallway space, there'd be room for a much larger cargo bay in the central section. Small cargo bays + large crew means that the Starlancer MAX is going to struggle to make a profit out of cargo hauling.

​@jodofe4879 ... you are kidding yourself if you think the MAX is the exception to the rule... and not the "new rule". This is the new standard in ship-design and gaming ecosystem; it's opulent, immersive, inefficient... and driving group-play. You are also kidding yourself of you think all of the old-ships aren't slowly being "phased-out". That includes all of the current Crusader lineup... minus the C1, if we are lucky. Do not expect to see even a trace that the Constellation Series ever existed in less than a year. CIG never looks-back; they never go back. It's best to get used to what is shiny-and-new and has a chance of making it into a "playable-state".

For ship tours. you can also spawn them in AC mode maps that have planets so can land and have lots of sunlight to see

@ninthydra9980 one of my middle school substitutes or chaperone, I don't really know his job. But he was a ww2 bomber crew. He told us some less intense stories, but it was still surreal seeing him talk about something like that. He was already very old and that was like 18 years ago. God bless him

A Ursa can safely enter the ship even when the back loading bay rails (both side and up to roof) are fully loaded. it is a tight fit but you can get off Ursa and go through the loading bay with no problem. Since Ursa has the same height as a ROC, that means you can keep two ROCs there after fully loaded your cargo. it is a big ship.

Sad that the newly designed ships are showing even more how ugly and outdated our old ones are. But still the Starlancer is really well done, feels comfy and uses its space nicely.

I wouldn't say it uses it's space well at all, could easily have double the cargo if there wasn't so much wasted space plus the vehicle bay not having a cargo grid in the middle.

​@@Treecko8O surely you've realized by now that the devs do not design with min/maxing like a gamer would, they make art and sell the fantasy of a spaceship first. If you want min max cargo get a Hull series.

@@aznxgundam978 I already have a Hull D and picked up a Starlancer MAX as well as a Caterpillar and BMM so I'm all set for cargo gameplay, I like the ship it's just allot of wasted space for it's size.

It's not an airlock if the area between the doors is too small for someone to enter. At that point, no air can be saved. A proper airlock has a sealed area in which air can be removed and saved for later.

Both turret seats in the cockpit have a blast door on window. There is a button to open/close it on the left side. What I don't like is artificial cargo ramp height reduction. Devs don't want large vehicles to fit in so they made entrance so low you can barely load cargo. Same with center cargo hold. It's too close to the ground and part of the ship is blocking access to the grid so you have to go around it.

... really like this ship. I usually go for the version within-a-series with all of the "gadgets"... and I would here, as well, if they had a dedicated "explorer"; but I think the MAX is the best-version of the three Starlancers proposed. It features incredible configurability and versatility. With the addition of modular "game-loop" stations that will invariably be making their-way into the game, shortly... the MAX has all the "makings" of a truly remarkable ship... that already comes equipped with the "charm".

2:50 in the rear bay, you can snap a 32scu container to that side grid, and then stack a single layer (1's, 2's, 4's) along the top of it. so it's "2x16x3" twice (the same stack method is repeatable on the left and right sides, with a Cyclone-ish worth of space in the center).

I always saw constellation and reclaimer as firefly. Messy beds, cargo bays with railings up top that Jayne can shoot his shotgun from, messy bridge with wires. MISC ships are too pristine, too polished, too japanese. Not a screw loose, not a wire showing.

3:35 you can fit 2 32's on each side, sadly you cannot stack more than a 2high in it. But, if you're ripping cargo out of a salvage claim, this ship will accomodate it because of this section right here. The catwalk stays separate so that you can walk through when there's 32x4 of cargo in it.

I was online when they pushed the ships into the PTU. I tried so hard to get to a hangar to see my max or a friends polaris. It glitched out and we had to relog many times over the course of like 2 hours. Finally, we got to his hangar to see his polaris, and my character was invisible to him. His character and ships were invisible to me lmao. My hangar also had my reclaimer on it for some reason and I couldn't get it to go down so I could spawn the lancer. Over all, the game was trying to keep me from witnessing those beauties

I dont need the ship to be min/maxed for cargo, but the catwalk down the middle splits this so only 1 or 2 scu boxes will fit on either side. Its a cool effect for sure, but if they'd had the catwalk off to one side that may have been better functionally.

You people and your obsession with min maxing video games. Ughghg. The cat walk in the center is intended for getting to the engine room easily. People really need to stop thinking that it should all be for game results and start looking at it as a design choice by the in universe manufacturers.

the only part I would min max would be the habitation. Why does a crew of four need EIGHT beds and four bathrooms? Condensing this into four single beds and two bathrooms could leave space for a small infirmary. The Starlancer MAX was sooo close to the Firefly :( I hope for a Starlancer DUR :)

@@CathrineMacNiel true.. this ship is wasting alot of space for not realy practical stuff.. why 2 elevators at the rear for example, one side could have been the perfect space to park an ATLS.. and so many redundant door buttons.. close but still not the perfect ship internals..

Freelancer has same issue on Pilot with left hand blocking the MFD. Guessing when Gold pass goes through Those ships, they may fix it? (I think they could fix it by getting rid of the yoke, and replacing them with flightsticks or HOTAS type controls.

Dang they made it kinda useless. Not a full cargo grid in back and all the grids are single scu. Correction. You can put two 32 scu boxes on each side. So not as bad as I first thought

Ya the rear can hold two 32 SCUs and 8 4 SCUs. The front cargo elevator each holds 2 32 SCU containers on each side. Unofficially I think you could squeeze another 64 SCU (at least) instead of a vehicle.

Wow this ship is huge... It's like a MISC C2, and I love it, even though it's not for me cause I prefer multi-role ships with less of a focus on cargo, especially at this size.

im not sure but this looks like its way too much ship for the amount of cargo it carries. might be because its designed around the other variants, TAC and the basebuilder. have to wait for these, maybe makes more sence then. with some more usefull rooms, it could be the Bus from marvels agents of shield.

Don't get so fixated on the way the current economy works...like, right now it's basically "the more SCU the better", but eventually it'll make sense for smaller loads of materials where they're high value and thus it makes sense...not to mention that there will be more tangible uses for hauling things around, like resources for crafting and base building. I'd advise you, Foxy, and everyone else to stop with this narrow, tunnel-vision mindset of how the alpha is currently and instead think of the bigger picture where it actually makes sense a lot of the things CIG does

@@ChristoffRevan i dont mean its not enough SCU.. i mean the amount of SCU looks a bit lost in this ship. i look at this middle section and it looks tiny.. but there is space for 4x 32SCU containers.. its just that the ship around the cargo is massiv... something about the design to function balance is a bit off, thats all i tried to say. maybe this ship is designed as long range hauler for important deliveries. and thats why it needs to use more of its internals for crew comfort instead of more cargo space.

Yeah, it's not very practical but it has roleplay vibes. It really looks like it should be an explorer in the 600i or Aquila class. The cargo is just very limited. So much "wasted" space. I get what they're doing with the "sleeping" areas but I just don't really ever see a use for them, even at "game launch." You just don't "sleep" in a game, so having beds is just silly unless you are trying to pretend to be a super long range ship, and then it's just set dressing. Even then you only have beds for half the crew unless it's a high end ship. WAY too many elevators too. The control sticks block MFD views..bad design. However, overall it looks like a very "fun" ship for RP. Just not sure if I'd use it in game with just 1 or 2 friends. It feels like this should be called the Starlancer DUR and a "MAX" would be more stripped down like a Taurus with no vehicle bay, no catwalk, fewer elevators and just bunk beds, no rec room. Maybe 1 less turret to "MAXimize" cargo space.

@@jimrussell4062 true.. cant realy see the MAX side of it.. but i love the "set dressing" like you call it. these ships should be as belivable as possible, just for the immersion. thats why they need beds and crew quarters and all that. would love to use these for roleplay. but they still have to work on their designs to include the functional aspect more. less art, more usable, immersive ship. maybe they should hire someone with experience in real ship construction.

I know it's not the most solo friendly ship, but honestly it's not too far off the mark. If you just don't do combat, it's more than solo friendly for some good solo cargo hauling. If you do get in to combat, hopefully the AI blades will be in at some point and can power the two turrets and so long as you are not getting completely destroyed, can fix up your ship without too much hassle after the combat and carry on. I think that this ship is still a great solo option in the long run. Still, not sure if I would want this or a Taurus for solo cargo hauling. This takes more cargo, Taurus is more solo friendly, packs more of a punch in the pilot guns, and is more durable. Guess it depends how often you expect to get in to a fight while ferrying your boxes.

@@Gofr5 Berks here on KZbin did some testing and found that as long as you are paying attention to your surroundings and situation you should easily outrun anyone just out to blow stuff up for lulz. Professional pirate orgs may be an issue but fly smarter not harder and you'll be fine. IMO.

I few like the max would be better dedicated as a frontier explorer like the carack, it seems bettere layer out for the purpose of long term storage/deployment of cargo than simple transport from point A to B

Because they need to replace a functional small hanger for a Pool table ofc. Why the back space doesnt have a full Grid is beyond me. You can still park whatever vehicle inbetween regardless if there was a grid or not... So why not have a grid....

6x32 SCU containers fit... on the grid. You can put two extra in the rear cargo hold without any issues whatsoever, just off grid.

Ok, why does it need two rear elevators? (honestly, I would love one to be either a staircase, or to have another use for the space because there is very little reason to have two personal elevators this close to each other...)

Surprised that the two remote turrets are all on the top. The ship has no defenses of its bottom and barely from the rear low. A good defense would be one turret on top and one turret on bottom, one of them having a full view of the rear.

@@j.d.4697 yea, the TAC seems fine, fits it role, but MAX isn't. well, for any freelancer owner, it is nice to CCU to starlancer MAX, but if you're a connie owner, you won't give up your size five cannons and military grade armor for just 120 scu cargo space. not to mention the stupid pool table, they never learn don't they, I mean CIG designers, no body plays it, but it eats up a big part of the room, unlike a piano or a bookcase or a cabinet which all fit next to your walls, a pool table always sets in middle of a room. especially nowadays we can put in our own deco, a pool table or a pingpong table or things like this make NO SENSE at all.

I am amazed by how little I care about this ship. Not sure if it is because the Starlancer is MISC, or because the price to cargo ratio is awful. Or if we are just getting somewhat saturated with ships now that do existing gameloops already.

Great ship and great tour. I like this fatboy - i dont mind its 115m/s speed in scm. I changed my corsair to this because it is so much better inside. it is great lightning and mush room to walk and breath. I become not liking dark corsair inrerrior after one year flying it

Yeah, actually a trash ship. Afterthought to the TAC. They had no idea what to do with MAX and were too lazy to overhaul TAC. Actually a big fat hunk of garbage with size 2 components for a very much size 3 boy.

6 cargo grid 32scu. 8 in total. Can fit 300scu roughly without a parked vehicle.

Really nice video! How well does this ship fly in space and in atmosphere? If someone is primarily into cargo missions, is it agile enough to do some VHRTs in between? Also, how much does it cost to fuel up? Say you picked a single mission that gives 8 scu boxes and go deliver, does the mission rewards get negated if if fueled up hydrogen and quantum fuel at destination?

Honestly I couldn’t care less about base building. Usually it just makes the game looks all messy and laggy. I’d prefer if we could just customize our ships with couches and TVs and other comforts and then just use our ship as the base. This would be the perfect ship for a mobile base/ house

@@SpaceDad42 Debatable. For all the immersion focus on the MAX, a deep space hauler is a death trap without some basic medical facility. Even a no respawn just stabilize but only if you remain in the bed would be more reasonable than just a med pen or med beams. Even Serenity had a medical room. I'm not purely disagreeing, just giving another opinion/option.

id hate to have to defend it from boarding pirates! Armory on the ground floor More entrances than a crew could prob cover Life support right next to a ladder directly the the easy access lower deck

love the overall of the ship, but the middle cargo area is a hit and miss. The railing in the middle, stops you from moving cargo under the walkway to the other side. which forces you to walk to the other side of the ship to use it. thats a big fail in my opinion. So it's going to be a pass unfortunatly

and this shit is why im losing faith man....now this ship outguns the caterpillar which is a way bigger ship. so this smaller...more maneuverable more fire power and less cargo is much better of a crewed cargo runner than the caterpillar. stop adding all these new ships that just blow the old ones out of the water. fix the ships we got already man. oh i forgot to mention this nice "NEW" ship can grid lock 32 scu boxes.....great. goodbye battlepillar

I hate the command chairs, they should just be the main pilot seat cause let's face it they have the best view and ever owner is more than likely gonna be flying the ship, there is gonna be no one that just sits there not doing anything on the ship, they'll be fixing, flying or running turrets

for me it's just strange design. they focused on the super easy unloading and loading but only half of the cargo can even be easily loaded using that system....the rest is in the back like every other ship meaning it really takes more time to unload

So, the Starlancer MAX doesn't have a tractor beam turret and it's rear compartment is mostly dead space instead of being used for cargo... seems like a bad design.

Having look at it and compared it to it's equivalents, the Constellations and MSR.... it makes sense in a "real world" setting. Yes the SCU cargo is only 96 so it's kinda light for it's size. However, it's almost exactly equivalent to a Connie Andromeda which is admittedly a gunship but an "armed cargo hauler" for long trips makes sense. With 8.5 Quantum that's a big fuel tank (for crossing Pyro, etc) That means long runs which means you want a 2 up/2 down scheme (2 awake, 2 sleeping) One on pilot, one copilot/guns. 4 people also makes sense in contested areas because you want crew to stay with the ship to defend it while waiting to load/unload, and you want more bodies if you have to fill the small back bay to get up to 96. It looks like to me without he back bay you are at 64 cargo in the front. The rec area could be useful for longer trips and for waiting for cargo to be ready (ask any trucker and they know) The guns are bigger than the Connies but the missiles are similar total capacity, same shields, same speed/maneuverability, same cargo capacity, same crew.... it's a big big for a short-term hauler say in-system (if you stay in Stanton) and for gaming purposes (1-2 hour session) but it makes sense "in game world" if you would be living on the ship "for real" with the same crew of 4 all the time. Just not sure most players will manage that in real life. (Having said that it should have a control "yoke" in front not "fighter control sticks" that block MFDS since it's not a fighter anyway, and there are still WAY too many elevators. One has to go... either you don't need 4 elevators because you have a catwalk... or you cut out the catwalk and then you need 2 sets of elevators to move between front and back parts of the ship. Both is just redundant waste of space. Personally I think either can work stylistically, but if we were again talking about this as a "real" ship, then customers would complain and one or the other would become standard. I'm guessing as a cargo person I'd say "ditch the catwalk" it's easiest to do and it would double the cargo in the front to 128, which would double my effective profit. In space, I just run across the floor... no issue. The only drawback is on the ground I'd have to use the elevators and walk between cargo bays on the ground...or just walk across the top deck and down. Either way it's a HUGE waste of cargo space and cargo is MONEY to a cargo pilot/owner. I get "rule of cool" but if I could I'd cut that catwalk out and install more cargo grid myself. It's just too much space to waste when that is what pays the bills and pays the crew. The catwalk is redundant and would just anger me everytime I saw it that "we could be making more money" That's not being "gamey" that's role playing like someone in the setting! =-) Being in the setting, I'm not sure I'd buy it at a higher cost rather than a Taurus because I could effectively carry more and make more money with lower costs in the Taurus. The MAX would be a luxury if I had less cargo that was higher value on a regular run that would support a full crew of 4 on long distance runs in rough areas. (Say a contract for weekly runs to a specific mining colony in Pyro) In-system it's the Connie all day. More cargo, cheaper and faster. (And yes it looks like the Starlancer is 115 vs 200 SCM and 300 vs 400 boost, so it's gonna be SLOW getting into/out of atmo and getting around outside of QT jump.) As for cost, it's twice as heavy so that means twice as much hydrogen used. As for purchase cost, we don't have MAX in game stores, but it's expedite fee is 50% higher than the Taurus, so gonna guess that means the total cost will be about 50% higher which makes sense in lore from it's more amenities and components. Taurus is supposed to be cheap to run in lore anyway. So, as someone IN the Star Citizen world, I'd still go with the Taurus for everything outside of those long range, high risk/high payoff cargo missions to contested space with a full crew. In that particular scenario yes having three people shooting size 4's at pirates would be awesome. You could realistically keep a crew of 2-3 pirates off you, and the payoff offsets the increased operating costs. If I were a cargo ship company operator into MISC ships, I'd still look at the FL Max for the same style because you can easily toss as much or more cargo in that for shorter trips at much less size and cost. Again, in less contested systems where you don't need Size 4 weapons turrets. It has a role...just not as broad a role as it could have. A "stripped down" version with more cargo and less guns/amenities would really increase sales for MISC in medium to low risk areas (like Stanton) I could be wrong if you can fit something like a 32 SCU in the back bay. I'm sure CPT Foxyloxy will address this in an upcoming video. If we find it can easily fit twice that much cargo (safely) which it SHOULD by design of those front cargo bays but I'm just eyeballing it, then that would make it a fair cargo runner in most cases.

I _really_ dislike how low the cargo hold ceiling is. It was an effort to fit even the stuff that _should_ fit on the grid. The third SCU level was tight. Other than that annoyance, the ship can officially carry 224 SCU of cargo, 64 on each forward elevator, and 48 on each side of the rear cargo hold. With some creative Tetris, you can fit _at least_ 352 SCU of cargo on and off grid: 6x4 SCU in the hallway between the elevators (and possibly an extra 2 SCU container or two), and 11x8 SCU + 4x4 SCU containers in the rear hold.

So why isnt the total area of the back Cargo space have a cargo grid? I understand you can put a vehicle inbetween the cargo.... but you can still have a grid in the middle if you choose not to have a vehicle? and vice versa... I dont understand why you would not just have a big grid, since the ship has 4 entrances, making it very versatile. Seems like CIG are wasting space. In addition to wasting space with the habitation space. This ship is huge but can only take 220 SCU... For a dedicated Cargo Spec... its not good enough if you look at the total volume space.

Huge waste of space on this ship, that is clearly a half baked version of its TAC brother, that the hull was actually designed for. Living quarters are obviously just pigeon holed in a module that was meant as a snub hangar. If they were aligned parallel to each other without a hallway all around them, the living/rec area could have been way bigger and roomier, bar, cafeteria, all of that could have been bigger. The engine room is a huge fat space with no purpose. Bigger ships have relatively smaller engine rooms. That back part of the ship could have had its floor knocked down to make room for a bigger back bay, so it could actually fit a centurion or a nova. Just a lot of pointless pointless space. 3 elevators with no real reason. Really weird catwalk, again, with no reason to not just have it all be cargo space like on a Connie. Questionable to pay the asking price for this one. Let alone its belly is completely undefended. Not one bottom turret. Pirates will dive under you and gut you in the nuts. Smaller and older ships than this have protection in the bottom. Redeemer, Retaliator, Hammerhead, Hercules, Reclaimer, Hercules. I mean, come on. A long range hauler that cannot protect its belly? Where the cargo is?
