You've saved yourself around £350 , in comparison to the Price of a Prestige Big Boy power " kit".. so I guess its a win..... End of the day, a powered barrow is an absolute game changer. Especially in the winter mud. And you can rig up the batteries as emergency power banks.. There's so many pluses to having a power barrow... Atm, though, they are priced out of many anglers reach..... Cheers for the honest upload.

Yes mate I'd not compared my spend with the prestige kit so yes that's a great point. I hear the "game changer" phrase so often but it's bang on. Thanks for the kind feedback. Tight lines Steve

Hi Greg. It's absolutely superb, It moves more weight than I thought it would, the battery also lasts longer than I anticipated, I've charged it twice since the build, The first initial charge lasted around 6 weeks, I probably covered around 2.5 - 3 miles which took the charge down to just over 50% I had to recharge to 100% before taking it away for a week to eye kettleby lakes in Leicestershire. I'm still on that 2nd charge 5 weeks later with the battery at over 80%. In a nutshell, no I'd not change anything. The only advice I'd give Is, if like me you're not 100% committed to keeping some sort of cover over the electronics you might want to seal the battery in a waterproof box of some description. Thanks for the kind comments Greg. Tight lines Steve

Good news mate glad your hard work paid off! that battery is really impressive! You've defo made me consider building one. This design is handy with the ss plates no welding required, I was thinking of powering it with Makita batteries as I have loads for work and could go down the 36v route, higher voltage lower current for the same watts I guess 👌 subscribed Steve good to see your other videos

If you take lots of gear for overnighters etc and you goto places where you can't park next to your peg I'd say get it built mate 😄 Also a great idea to utilise your power tool batteries 👌🏻 Thanks for the sub, not the best producer but I try to keep everything honest and genuine. Tight lines Steve

I'm curious, I'm guessing this is simply a bicycle hub motor where they changed the rim a bit and slapped on a big tire. Does anyone know if the gears are plastic? I'm also guessing the axle is kind of thin. Good for bikes but it's a question if it holds up years of abuse in a wheelbarrow.

It's a scooter rear wheel with a max load of 150kg, I'm guessing the majority of barrows don't weigh close to this. My barrow itself weighs in at around 18kg plus the wheels. A typical load weight for me doing a couple of nights will be around 60-70 kg, 100kg total, easily nowhere near the 150kg limit. I've no idea what materials are used in the gearing but the axle fills me with confidence. I'm guessing the motor will go before anything else.

Hello mate I've purchased the same wheel as yourself could you give me a rough run through on what cables connect to what to make it abit easier as the instructions are next to nothing if you would be so kind thank you also I've bought 2x lifepo 12v 20amp batteries how would you say connect them?
@BivvyLife
@BivvyLife 7 күн бұрын
Hi mate. OK, if you've got the same kit as me it's a simple case of connecting the bullet connectors on the wheel cable to the matching coloured wires on the controller, the remaining white connector block is the learning wires, these dictate which direction the wheel travels. Simply reconnect them again if first connection spins the wheel in a direction that doesn't match up with the forward and reverse switch. Re- the batteries, you'll need to wire your 2x12v in series to get 24v.. Hope this helps Steve

Hi Steve,One Question. When you connected the wheel to the control box, you used a 12 pin Deutsch connector. There are 8 wires coming from the wheel, and 8 wires coming from the control box. How did you get 16 wires into a 12 pin connector? Regards Glenn
@BivvyLife
@BivvyLife 3 ай бұрын
@glennrobinson7716 Hi Glen. I split the 8 wires from the wheel, The 3 the phase wires went to the 3 way high powered blue connector that you'll see in the video. The other 5 hall sensor wires went to a 6 pin Deutsch connector. The remaining speed, forward and reverse wires were connected to a12 pin Deutsch block. Hope this helps pal. Regards Steve
