Absolutely incredible way of using a video to explain how the reversing valve works, and two ways to test it in under 2 minutes. This is a perfect example of how beneficial KZbin can be.

That magnet trick works only if it’s stuck, you need to get your discharge and suction line temp differential to check for one that is bleeding. Learned the hard way

I've tried using a big magnet on it tonight but it didn't budge. Also tried a hand held back massager to help loosen if it was stuck but still didn't work. Might have to just remove the shroud and check for 24v and do the screwdriver in the hole test

Is there ever instances where the circuit board energizes the valve to the incorrect location?
@MrCt333

10 to 11 degrees difference? Where are you getting this information at? I've always seen and heard 3 to maybe 7 degrees, typically the valve will absorb some of the heat but that is a large difference. Please reference your source so I can research this further, thank you. Never seen the magnet trick.

Question: what can be the reason of dropping down pressure in the suction line when u run the compressor of heat pump( from 80pcs to 0pcs) within 20sec, seams gas not recirculating. the following items on the circuit installed:Reversing vale, Expansion valve
@sofarleftturnigright
@sofarleftturnigright 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like your Txv power head has lost its charge and is unable to open causing the pressure to drop.....could also be low refrigerant charge or a restriction in the circuit somewhere

Mine was occasionally not going into full cool mode under defrost, but only in 40+ ambient temps. I ended up getting the emerson universal defrost board so there's a delay going into defrost and that seems to have fixed mine. I also swapped my contactor while I was in there since it was pitted and the defrost delay will cause more cycles

It’s never a clear cut diagnosis when it comes to reversing valves because if the compressor is shot then you’ll never know if it the compressor or the reversing valve?!?!

Do a pump down, if it pumps down then your compressor is fine.

@@mackenziegray2090 that’s legitimately valid if you have service valves to do a pump down. But if you ever worked on a water source heat pump. Or a package rooftop unit. It’s very hard to tell.
