What a wonderful heart for the telling of the Works of God and a level head during that process is Dr. Alistair Begg! And I am grateful to his wife who is such an enabler to him, through her own encounter with the living Jesus Christ!

I like his humility and honesty. One major problem of churches in the West during the last 20 years is that pastors/preachers do not connect with their congregations on a personal, one-to-one basis. They do not go out and visit new members and old members each month. And they are often arrogant and vain. The majority are dictators and do not like creative-and-strong individuals.

Thank you for expressing, without apology, your relationship with your wife as an essential anchor of ministry and home. A Pastor with a wife who is co-Pastor, or whose wife looms large in leadership, is lacking a secure foundation at home. As a woman and wife, that ambition was harmful to our first few years of marriage andI I gave it up for the simplicity of home. Such role models are unhelpful for girls and women, I feel. Too much performance, the trap of appearance, the public persona...better the simple service which delights the Lord and nourishes and defends the home. Not saying there is no place for women leaders! One of my favorites is Susan Hunt. What a great attitude, and a Titus 2 ministry.

The analogy of a symphony with all being subject to the score is a good one as regards the church. 11:00 It is difficult, however, to find congregations that really understand the score these days. Most, sadly, seem to be United, if United at all, in playing a different tune than the one prescribed in the Bible. The culture seems to be dictating the tune these days.

Considering the negative impression he talked about, with regard to old Scottish Ministers, and his choice to come live and work in the States, I wonder if Alistair has a bad taste in his mouth for his Scottish heritage?

Alistair Begg teaches salvation through repentance and through lifelong works of discipleship. Salvation, for Begg, is a business deal with God. The phrase he uses here puts it all in a nutshell. Begg says that “Believing Means Behaving” (or Doing). No, it doesn’t! Believing doesn’t mean doing good works. Believing means trusting Jesus and what HE did in His perfect life, death on the cross for all your sins (past, present and future), and His resurrection. If you get the way of salvation wrong, you are a False Teacher.

@Mary Lamb, If you repent and believe that Jesus died on the Christ for your sins, you are not supposed sin anymore but we are humans and we sin everyday in our lives. BUT we need to repent for our sins everyday. You can’t live your life like you want to and do what you want to… if you are a Christian, you are under God’s law and you follow Him.
