My area of interest is neuroscience and it always amazes me how Buddhist philosophy and practice falls in line with what we are learning about how the human brain works. Those experienced in Buddhist practice have so much to contribute to neuroscience. I often read something on Buddhist philosophy and can turn right to my neuroscience books and there it is - described chemical and electrical activity. So many problems in the world begin in the brains of people - conflict, war, fear, greed. Learning to control our minds so they are not being directed by the more ancient parts of our brain - the parts that trigger our ancient survival 'circuits' - is key to addressing the problems of the world. Meditation, as we now can see without question because of imaging technology, is a very real and very significant tool we can use to understand and improve ourselves. The contributions the Buddhist community can make towards this end are an invaluable gift to the world and very much appreciated.

I would love to be able to ask His Holiness about how I can extend my practice of Ahimsa and Karuna towards the people who make decisions of life and death. Here in the UK (and I'm sure other countries too) there has been preventable suffering and death from Covid, due to decisions of government and I feel burdened by anger towards those decision-makers. I wish His Holiness good health and thank him for his generosity!

With wisdom of anatta, loving kindness is freed from self and other, and is more effective. Alleviate suffering on contact, the suffering is not self, nor is suffering other. Nor is suffering we, nor is suffering they. See suffering directly, no hesitation, solve suffering. Is there pain? Alleviate. Is there pain for something better? Alleviate. Is there pervasive pain? Alleviate. Now with compassion, share cause of suffering, point to it, thus requires much energy and courage. Limitless.

Perhaps consider dependent origination. Every action we (or others) take is conditioned by our past karma. Although we have the free will to change the future by taking action in the present, the action we take now is only a result of past conditions. The most evil (or most good) person in the world is only that way because of his or her genetics and conditioning. Is it that persons fault they are evil or good? Also, people we may think of as immoral are also suffering. All beings are suffering. Perhaps this could help you generate compassion towards them, whether you agree with their views and actions or not. I hope this helps.

A body has a limited space by wall in the endless space, has it's own characteristics which defines the self of the every moment choice. A body is dependent in relation to the environment but independent of the environment in every moment choice. The environment cannot force a choice only when the body agree what is against it's nature while it is separated from the endless space with a wall by the Creating force, the body is not the same as the environment nor as the other bodies and the Creating force enforces separation for balance. All energy has the right of eternal existence also a body while it cannot dictate the reality of eternity. Every body has the energy of the own echo of eternity bringing forth the same Creating force. The Creating force within has to agree with the Creating force all around and honesty is the only option for the every moment choice of the self of the energetic body. The reality of eternity has energy forming infinity and it's echo brings forth the Creating force for the balance in separation between time and space between eternity and infinity while time and space are no single moment the same. When the body refuses to take share in eternity for the promise of harmony in balance between space and time between eternity and infinity that moment start the emotions of frustrations while it is not it's nature, not it's origin, not it's meaning by characteristics. The spark of hope to share in the future of eternity characterizes the self of the body in it's limited abilities and is the origin of it's echo of eternity while only the right of eternal existence is not enough to take a share in the future of eternity and a balance in separation between time and space is required. All that appears has a history, meaning and promise for the future of eternity by the Creating force. All development by the Creating force for the balance in separation between time and space between eternity and infinity must be collective in the endless space by limited possibility, so every period is for collective development not except one by the history.

India is not evolved, especially in compassion, look at their attitude to homosexuality. He slightly evaded the point of the questions which were asked. The question asked: You've mostly been alone during the pandemic. Errrr no, he has a team of people to support him. A bettter question would be about how the leaders and Governments of the world are failing us. And if he knew anything about the EU he would understand that there was no democratic process to elect representatives or leaders, amongst other issues, so the EU isn't completely a good model. And, it's easy to be holy when you have all your needs met. Overall, I wouldn't say there was a lot of wisdom. I will say, he does say, investigate what the truth is and not to just accept and that the gap between rich and poor must reduce.
@28105wsking4 жыл бұрын
Please remember that English is not HHDL's native language and sometimes he does misunderstand. He is aging and may need to say something right away before he forgets what he wanted to say, as I certainly do at 72!! At other times, he really is not in a position to comment about some topics and may address them generally. With some questions, he knows that whatever he says, someone out there will be arguing (very bad karma) with him, and others may take offense no matter what he says because it is their nature to respond to the world as if they are being offended, so he avoids those questions if he sees that his answer can't be beneficial. Again, he may have something to say that he feels is more important than a silly question he has answered a million times already! He may take the opportunity of the question to speak about that. You can depend on it that if he mentions something, it is important and will be important in the future too. Buddhas can see all three times, so do pay attention to him. Everything he says is to inform, encourage, point out importance, warn as he has of coming drought and famine in India due to climate change, and also to protect. If he cannot do that well, he may avoid a little bit a direct answer. You should also remember that Tibetans are guests in India, economically and politically dependent on Indian good will and that political intrigue and pressure from the Chinese put him in a difficult position. He must be circumspect in what he says and does. Racism and nationalism exist everywhere. So we must remember the complete picture and not be naive. His Holiness is not just a cuddly grandfather. He has a mind like a bear-trap and is and must be worldly-wise, to guide his people safely through this difficult time. One more point: Tibetan humor is tongue-in-cheek, very Australian, understated and stating in reverse to point out extremes. When he says he will live to 125, he is also saying that he won't live forever, so don't waste time! Take advantage of his presence, influence, impact, guidance, teaching, blessing, in the world now., while we have the chance! The next Dalai Lama may not be as strong or come with the same cache'.
