THANK YOU. As a US college professor for 22 years I worked with many Iranian international students, and they were the most educated, well-read, thoughtful and warmly kind people you could ever meet. They hated nobody. I deeply wish for the US and Iran to find a new relationship of peace and cooperation.

Thank you for your warm words. I just hope, you meant building a relationship between US and Iran's people and not the Iranian government. People are so fed up with this cruel regime that they do not care if they are going to starve but they want the regime to go. They do NOT care for the removal of the sanction, as they know for a fact that it will only strengthen the Iran government and will not be used for the betterment of Iran and Iranians.

No Professor Chomsky, now even the majority of rural popultion are against the governement. You can see how the slogan of Zan, Zendegi, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) is popular in all Iran in the videos and this getting more and more widespread. All the people are fed up with Islamic Republic, no mather where or what social class.

Exactly. Rural Iranians aren't really particularly religious either. They're really not. Most of them just want to keep living their simple lives, they're not into politics. I've lived in villages for about three years. Supporters of this regime are now a minority, and they're two groups: 1- the genuine Revolutionaries and hardcore Basajis (minority). 2- People who the first group has bought. Corrupt to the core, these guys only care about their own bottomless pockets which the first group gladly fills for support. Basically mercenaries. Even genuinely religious Muslims don't support the regime anymore. This regime is an abomination.

I can see why you would say that, but I think his argument has always been that you can make a greater impact by focusing on what’s within your control; i.e. tend to your own garden. He’s not necessarily validating Iranian atrocities by indicting U.S. foreign policy.

Religious rules are complex to enforce. This uprising has the United States central intelligence agency trademark. The Iranians can sort out their differences. The Iraqi babies on the hospital floor comes to mind on the 15,000 sentenced to death in Iran. Challenging the religion is similar to a family dispute. The United States sanctions set the economic stress that triggered the unrest. Grassroots challenge of the religion requires time , negotiations and understanding. Foreign intervention is a tragedy wrapped in democracy.

Finally I would recommend you, the woman having a dialogue with Great Chomsky to be the representative of the women’s Leader in Iran. Here is the thing, many of Iranians are waiting for the poor kids who are revolting to change the regime and so they can go back and roost over the people. It can be from buying giant villas to using their professions, i, e, a Doctor to oppress the already oppressed population! I know I was born in Iran. Two advices I will give u, actually 3: 1- Educate yourself about Chomsky ‘s work so u don’t ask embarrassing questions. -2 Drop mentioning you are a doctor, it only symbolizes capitalism, shows you believe in Class system. 3- please do not interrupt folks in Iran just cuz you want to go back. They will take care of it themselves. When I left Iran at 15, I had to make a decision to live here or go back, way back then when the revolution began. I have no need to go back. I am full fledged American, I don’t even relate to your begging!!!🤧 It is always a pleasure to hear Chomsky on any matter. Good day miss. p.s. The male domination of women everywhere is called women living UNDER Patriarchy. Patriarchy is international, you may think you’re free in the U.S but you’re not. Point is fight Patriarchy, first find out what it is, then study it, then come to peace with it as you fight against it daily. Alright, hope all were helpful. I need to leave .

@@dustykashifeathers858 To be honest, you need an improved economy to make strides in the 1st place. the US has agendas everywhere and will only help any emancipation, by it being in their interests in their interests; and people don't realise that there are a lot of competing interests, behind-the-scenes in the US as well, Lobbying for their own interests - for example, the current sustained war in Russia suits the military-industrial complex. The Weapons Companies, but Is against the Interests of Other Billionaires Such As Elon Musk and Even Jeff Bezos. Currently it is in their interests for there to be no democracy and emancipation, in developing and Third World countries because then they able to purchase raw materials more cheaply. developing what freedoms many european countries and the USA has, is much more difficult now, because you are dealing with governments, with much greater firepower to put uprisings down. For example, the 1st successful uprising in Europe (and the West), was the English Civil War, in the 1600s, so the Royal military, was quite convincingly defeated, leading to the beheading of a king, and the increasing promineence of the 1st parliamentary democracy, which, though around for hundreds of years, then began to take over completely in the next hundreds of years. The rest is history, but required tremendous and frequent uprisings, in the following centuries, which culminated in the "charter movement", which demonstrated that the general public themselves had developed the confidence and individual autonomy, to be perceived everywhere as sufficiently free. Then, of course, in the following 200 years, this happened in the rest of the Anglosphere as well, including the United States These uprisings, now, will need to be initiated internally, and then gather interest in countries with similar levels of development and internal freedoms. Then it will take a lot of persistence in the face of tremendous hostility and violence, I'm am afraid

Dear Dr Madani, Noam is not really the right one to be asked about his opinion on US military intervention, rather you better ask Iranian women and youth, and if they are willing to be liberated by taking such a "risk" as you believe or not. Noam is and has always been anti interventionist, however, without a strong military support Iranian women will remain hostage under this religiously-military despotic regime and its backward ideology forever, and for sure in my opinion nothing could be worse for them than an oppressing life under such condition as is today.

Sorry, Dr Madani for my dislike. It was not for your interview. Loved your intelligent questions. It was for Naom Chomsky's out-of-touch responses. To me, his responses only matched with Iranian unpopular Toudeh Party members'; the only leftist group in Iran, that support this tyrannic, barbaric and theocratic regime. And it is due to their priorities being to fulfil Russia's benefits not Iranian. Like Chomsky, they close their eyes to the crimes done to people and the destruction done to the country in the name of religion, during the 43 years of ruling. And the irony is that majority of the regime's and Toudeh's elite members and their families are among the 10% of the immigrant population, living outside of Iran, while they support the regime fully!?
