This channel really is a treasure. Not to mention your adept interview skills. That I can remember this channel from just three years and now… interviewing the granddaughter of a President, is a shining testament to the work you’ve done. One last thing; it makes me so, very happy to see Eli so engaged in history of his own volition and his own passion 😊 when I was around 12 or 13 I discovered that I could learn history outside of just my underfunded school classes, and from then I took off. For Eli it's space, for me at that age it was WW2 and the Cold War. Such a passion for history is such a beautiful thing to see, Eli can be a great influential historian one day :)

I speak as a Brit here, but that was a very interesting conversation….kudos for getting this opportunity….what an experience for your son too Chris. Eisenhower was the right man at the right time for the job as supreme Allied Commander…no question in my mind…as someone who has studied WWII in great depth. He managed some big characters during the campaign, allowing them room to do what they do but keep them focussed.

@@VloggingThroughHistory Timothy Lincoln Beckwith's paternity was once in dispute with his mother alleging he is a descendant but then his alleged father had a vasectomy. However, vasotomies have been known to fail... a fraction of a fraction of a percentage. lol. And the odds of that being a prominent person like this seem slim. Get him on after having him do an AncestryDNA test!

Had the opportunity to speak with her multiple times while I was Director of Combat Studies at Ft. Leavenworth as well as a student at the Army War College. Also, worked with the Eisenhower Library on several projects she was leading. Got to tell her stories about me bagging groceries for her grandmother Mamie at the Ft. Ritchie Commissary, about 40 minutes from the Gettysburg Farm after the GoA passed away. My dad was stationed there when I was in high school. Never met the GoA, but did meet his wife, his son BG John, and granddaughter Susan. All we good people, and Susan was a fabulous lady, laboring constantly to educate people on DDE. Glad you could talk to her.

What a remarkable and intelligent public servant. Great interview Chris and Eli. The Eisenhower's deserve the accolades they get. Great political family with a lot of integrity. Ike was the man for every big decision he ended up having to make. He was a great diplomat, great politician, even as Allied Supreme Commander, and great delegator. His immediate subordinates loved and respected the man. Great job.

I always thought when I was younger that the presidents post WW2 up until about Reagan were just presidents that were "insignificant" or you could "write off", and only as I'm getting older do I rectify these beliefs. President Eisenhower has influenced the United States of America in the modern era for the positive, perhaps more than any other president since FDR, perhaps even moreso. Much respect to President Eisenhower and all involved.
