One of my top 10 fantasy authors. I love the way he writes characters, especially the 'bad guys' in a way that you can really understand their motivations. Such a welcome change from your typical fantasy 'evil just because they're evil' villain. Can't wait to read the new book.

Just catching up and getting back into reading after a long break…. I am returning by reading Mr. Gwynn and his works… so far not disappointed. I just hope Mr. Gwynn or someone close to him creates purchasable ’bookends’ (pewter?) of the two heads from the current series - or just two of the dragon for that matter - in which to hold my JG collection between, I’d be all over THAT! Thanks to Mr. Gwynne for the series and thanks to both of you for the interview!

The dragon is a combination of a snake, a big cat and a bird of prey. All common predators for current day primates and would've been for our primordial ancestors too. It has fire, a human tool which allowed us to terraform on a large scale and keep predators away, human intelligence, and human vices. I think we find it so compelling because it's a combination of ancient external fears of predatory animals and social ones towards the evils of humanity and the weapons we inflict upon ourselves, usually out of self interest. We as a species managed to project our own idea of human villainy onto a composite of our natural enemies. You're probably right that'll be with us as a symbol for a very long time.

Loved this video Daniel! I love the fact that he does re enactment, it's something I've always been interested in, but sadly never taken up. I feel like it would certainly give you the edge as a writer, to feel and go through some of the motions that you are putting your characters through. I can totally see how that would translate to making a more believable character, or action sequence. I can't wait to read this book now! It sounds amazing! Keep up the amazing work Daniel! I can't wait to see who you get to interview next!

The Shadow of the Gods was the book that got me back into reading again last year as I started my own writing journey. I knew that as a writer of fantasy, I needed to reacquaint myself with the current landscape of it. I was instantly drawn to John's cover and I have not been disappointed at all with what lay within. I'm currently on Hunger of the Gods now and I hope that we will see a third, but I heard about the tragedy in his life and either way, I wish him all the best.

100% agree with Bernard Cornwell’s the warlord chronicles it’s brutal and at times a realistic and brutal take on the Arthurian legend I read more historical fiction than fantasy but for modern audicences if you want to get into this series and want to lean more of Ragnarok don’t read the edder you won’t make it it’s harder to read then the odyssey instead read Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman it’s amazing

Great interview. But the camara angle is awful. You need to pay attention to the eyeline. It looks like you are looking down on him. It would really help if your eyes are on the same hight as his. And if you look to the left you need to be in the right part of the image.
@Florfilm
@Florfilm 3 жыл бұрын
I know it’s knitpicky but I’m a filmmaker and I really want to help. Best way to get correct eyelines is if you imagin an arrow coming out of your eyes and this arrow has to hit his eyes if you superimposed both images. But I know it’s difficult because you probably don’t know his camera angle in advance.
