Little bit late to the party since I'm catching up on your writing vlogs but I just wanted to thank you for videos! They are so inspiring as a writer and your kind personality really shines through.❤

I would be more impressed had you seen some thing during your walk - a child crying, a woman hurrying along the street and disappearing into a doorway like a magic trick - there in one eye blink and gone the next, - or anything that caused your imagination to ask "why that?", then coming back and in the next 12 hours producing a finished story of what and why and the outcome of their actions. I find the best ideas for my stories occur like that. There is a famous street photographer who says a worthwhile photograph never occurs when you go out looking for it, it happens as you are going somewhere for some other reason - and there it is in front of you. Always have your camera (minds eye) with you.

What you said at the close of day one is precisely what I thought was going to happen (the loss of the bird's eye view). I chop and move copy pasted sections around so much in my writing that I wondered how to make that work with pen and paper.

What questions did you ask the agents? I'm hoping to be querying by the end of this year or early next year and I have no idea what to ask an agent

Really enjoyed the video and your journey. Well done and congrats! I just began my journey at the end of March and am at 12 submissions and 2 rejections so far, one of which was quite a positve rejection if you know what i mean. I used to be a daily nespaper journalist and people say that it must be easy because you're a pro writer. But they are wrong. Writing a novel is completely different and it cuts no ice with agents. They either like the story or they don't! Anyway, good luck!

I resonate with many of your choices and would like to share some of my favorites: If you enjoyed The Secret History (Donna Tartt), you might like: Gone Girl (Gillian Flynn) The Silent Patient (Alex Michaelides) Absolute must-read: A classic that I enjoy every time - The Master and Margarita (Mikhail Bulgakov) Other Favorites: Monday Begins on Saturday and Roadside Picnic (Arkady Strugatsky and Boris Strugatsky) Man's Search for Meaning (Viktor Frankl) Series: Shades of Magic (V. E. Schwab) The Book of Dust (Philip Pullman) The Stormlight Archive (Brandon Sanderson) I’d love to hear from those who have read these books as well. 😊

The Remains of the Day is a beautiful book; the theme of duty is far more interesting than it seems when you hear what the book is about, because of the author's wonderful insights about what makes a worthwhile life, and what, on the other hand, one might have by way of regrets. The other thing that makes it so good is the writing style, and I was pleased to hear you talk about style, something I haven't heard anyone on booktube do yet, but since you write, yourself, it's inevitable that style is something you've thought about. I find it forms a huge part of my reading taste, rather than just what the plot is. I don't know how you manage to read anything, though, while writing; I can't do that when I'm so caught up in my own developing plots and themes! Do read The Remains of the Day soon though, 'cos you'll love it.

I really should get back into journaling, I fall off of it for months at a time. I love the notion of Woolf calling it 'loosening writing ligaments.' I also want to try a regular (maybe not DAILY) letter writing routine, even if it's just to myself. I loved when you said in the figurative language example the bus was 'crime scene tape yellow' and I kind of want to write a short thing about that, maybe a short story or poem. It created such a vivid image in my mind and I felt so inspired. I feel like that random word generator would be so useful as an exercise the way you use it to make fresh connections! Thanks for the video, it was so great.

Does anyone worry about everyone readung your journals should you die unexpectedly? Debating whether to burn my journals. I mean, there's nothing scandalous in them...but they're private...

Dear Christy, I am writing to you from São Paulo, Brazil. Look how far your videos have reached... Did you expect this? Currently, I am a content creator with the idea of a fantasy book to start writing, and I intend to begin soon. It is a long process until we have the courage to start this journey. I am writing to thank you for your videos. The aesthetics are beautiful, the way you talk about your creative process and inspire us to see the beauties of life. Your lifestyle is the one I want to have every day. I will keep following you from afar and sending updates. See you soon. Hugs, Ciro.

I love your way to re-write your draft. And this autumn vibe put balm on my soul (I'm in France where is spring, but it's raining all the time !). I love your dress, it's seem to be a sondeflor. I have same skincolor and same straight hair than you, and I think this sheckers brown-black will be my 4th dress. I will wait september to get it :) Bisou

Ah, what were your thoughts on the Midnight Library? Maybe I missed a vlog update from you before. It was a book club read for me, but I'm still only halfway through and struggling to finish it 😅 Some themes really hit close to home for me, so maybe that's why I stopped after starting it in October last year 😭

Hi Christy! I was wondering if you'd be interested in filming a video where you try different writing challenges/prompts from social media (there's a lot on Pinterest!). I see them all the time, and I can't help but wonder if they're any good. Also, if you're looking for pretty versions of Virginia Woolf books, vintage has a lot of pretty ones. I have their editions of a room of one's own, the waves and Orlando.

I love this. Everyone I meet that actually share an interest for books, proceed to tell me they read Colleen Hoover, and then it just feels like no one actually shares my interest in reading like i thought. I call that magical voice the Neil Gaiman voice. It’s a difficult one to get right. Too much and you’re talking down to the reader, or the sweetness is so unbelievable it just takes you out of the story.
