There's an incredible (and inspiring) lesson to be learned from Avicii's Mainstage performance at Ultra Music Festival 2013. Artists of all genres will appreciate this story because you've probably dealt with the exact same thing!
Avicii took a chance with his music and went in a "different" direction. He went against what was popular at that time. Although it wasn't received warmly, that never stopped him from being a true artist and creating what HE wanted to create!

After his death, everybody started to listen to Avicii 🔺️🔻... 5:08 I loved his music from 2011 for the first time at Tomorrowland. I'm 41 and listen from Prodigy, GMS, House, and other music styles. But i needed something new, and i find Avicii. Rest in peace, brother ❤🙏! Ps. Very good job and nicely done video 👏

Tim was a good guy. When I met him, he said that what happens today, won’t matter tomorrow. I think he just wanted to be inspirational and he went beyond that. He didn’t deserve to die like that.

You were so lucky. What Avicii told you was an intelligent conclusion, as he was as smart as his psychologist said. I feel frustrated that I discovered Avicii in 2020. I can't believe I missed the chance to enjoy this music composer while he was alive and working. We were contemporary, but I see everything about him as if I were looking at an artist's work from a different historical period. Thank you, @TheCosmicAcademy, from the bottom of my heart for making this video.

Great video and so true. Avicii was the first edm artist I saw back in 2011. The man’s a legend. We miss you Tim.

It's funny to see that all the generic pop EDM we got today is because of a risk some people took 10 years ago. If you combine what Avicii and Flume did at that time, it's the sound of today. But when they first made it they weren't in the trend of that moment which was into heavy generic big room or brostep/edm trap. And seeing what Flume is making right now, which is far from his early future bass stuff, I'm curious what Avicii would make today to separate himself from a trend he set (kind of like what he did after Levels)

Spot on!! The special ones are never chasing trends, but always wayyyy out in front of the pack doing “different” things. So much appreciation for artists who truly create whatever it is they want to create!!

Well, it’s not the first time in history a ”genius in a certain field” is so far ahead that the big mass need “ages” to get it. Tim was one of those geniuses, he knew something nobody else could wrap their heads around at the time. The rest is history. I miss him and I play some of his songs almost every day still ❤❤

Big lesson in our scene! Even though if you questioning yourself almost everyday (like myself), nothing beats making music that you as a person stand for. I think it is that belief and power that will translate to others as well!

I am agree as well, thank you for make this video Justin, really important to ignore the haters and do what we really want in the music industry, that is really important, and be strong and still work hard, we don't really want to happen the same as Avicii as he is get push, enjoy the success but NOT materialize success, that is what does Avicii have saying, be here to all the fans but NOT haters with audience!❤

The situation was that he played something NEW to the crowd that went there for something different. His team knew that this was a radio track and they pushed it as much as possible. Let’s not also forget marketing and playlist curators, radio pluggers etc.
