@@Andinus3000 Then... who actually sang this? It's not one of the official versions, as far as I can tell... I have what I believe is a complete OST collection, and all original presses I've been collecting since the series was new, but... I don't recognize this version. It's not one of the main 6 variants, not the holiday variation, nor either of the "remixes" on the bonus CD with one of the albums... which recording is this, if not a cover? I'd love to pick up any missing CDs for my set! Edit: And, if that's true... why do all her OTHER covers have the same voice, if it's fake? And why does it match her speech inflections/accent etc. as well?

I just know the song intimately, in all it's original recording versions, as I was going through a particularly rough time of my life during that period (multiple losses of people far too young to go, and very close people I cared deeply about, for starters) - NGE as a series really helped me deal with all that and form a different view of what life meant. What it meant to live, and what could be worth doing so. I actually still have the dual LaserDisc set of End of Eva and Re:Birth (collector's edition - some of my most prized possessions. They're part of the reason I'm here now to type this response. 😕 ( I was raised in a... not so good home... lessee... what will YT allow me to say... I have physical evidence of how "un-good" it was on my body in many places? Still can't sleep safely within striking range of any other human being, or I'll strike them out cold before I wake up/as I awaken? (Had police involved a couple times, because even after warning people... they didn't take it seriously when I asked them to never shake me awake. I can't control it. I've seen more bad things by age 15 than most military veterans with active combat have seen. Stuff that never made the news, as my father was in that industry, such as a serial killer choosing victims from 3 blocks from my house that never hit the papers/news stations, as it was determined to be "too likely to incite public outrage or panic") And my parents were hard believers/members of a religious cult. They still are. I've only seen them once in many years, at a family funeral. Decades later I'm still fixing all the horrible thoughts/beliefs they put in my brain back then, haha.) So yeah... I'm a bit messed up, but working on it every day. I'll always be grateful for NGE along with Ghost in the Shell for helping me break out of that horrible life and start figuring out who I was/what life meant. I still don't know that last bit, but I have a least a few ideas now! XD Edit: on the SK case... I found one of them while walking the dog. It was... traumatizing. She was in multiple places at once, and the inside was outside. I have also seen a bicyclist dragged under a lorry in front of me while biking behind him, as the truck driver fell asleep and veered into him. It was no one I knew, but... by the end, he was stretched about 30m. This was when I was 15, exactly, and on my way home from work. Life kind of has a different tinge to it when you've seen it end so many times. (These were not the only times, sadly.)
