You mentioned being worried about the video flopping because people wouldn't care about Cursed, but, honestly, one of my favorite things is when a KZbinr I like releases a video about some random movie or TV show or whichever that I've never heard of or barely remember and it's like 2 hours long and I get to be like, "Well, time to see what kind of nonsense rabbit hole they fell down this time."

Things I remember from this film: -being amazed at how incompetent this looked for a Craven film -the Bo subplot was kind of sweet and I was glad that he didn’t die, which felt revolutionary for 2005 -Joshua Jackson was effective when he finally went heel -I wondered what Judy Greer had possibly done to deserve this

Kilbourne also hosted the first version of The Daily Show on Comedy Central back when it was pretty mean-spirited and no where near as good as when Jon Stewart took over. Stewart only got the gig because Kilbourne got the Late Late Show and Stewart's previously syndicated late night talk show had been cancelled.
@hurgenflerg213310 ай бұрын
The only thing that stood out for me when I watched Cursed back in 2005 was the part where they make it clear that Craig Kilborn gets infected with the werewolf curse and then never bring it up again. There's just a werewolf Craig Kilborn running around offscreen and it doesn't come up. More people knew about Kilborn back then because he was the original host of The Daily Show, but then nobody watched him on The Late Show, so he was already the Scott Baio of the talk show scene by the time the movie came out. Probably by the time it went into production.

Growing up a horror obsessed teen in the early 2000s I was particularly intrigued by the news of an upcoming Black Christmas remake. I read every message board, read every Fangoria article, and even subscribed to the official fan page . The creator of the website named Dan even visited the set of the remake production and got Andrea Martin (who was in the OG and in the remake as the Mrs Mac) to sit down with him in an empty part of the set and watch the OG on a portable DVD player. I say all this to tell of another anecdote that happened on the remakes set. Weinsten himself reportdley barged on to the set and demanded reshoots, more blood, and for whatever reason that one cookie scene. Morgan and Wong really set out to make a remake more in vein of the original. More atmosphere and dread than what was actually released. It's so infuriating to know just how many horror productions were torn to shreads by these creep studio heads

Haha don't be too impressed, the Kevin Williamson podcast is over an hour but the interview doesn't start until late in the episode, so I skimmed through a lot of it. Then the Patrick Lussier interview is maybe 16 mins, and luckily for me the Joe Rogan Experience had uploaded that bit of the Rick Baker interview as its own short segment, only about 6 minutes long, so I didn't have to wade through an entire episode lmao. And I want to clarify that a lot of the groundwork had already been done for me!! A lot of my collecting sources was helped by pubs like Bloody Disgusting, Screenrant, etc having cited them before. I'm not ashamed to admit that even wikipedia was a helpful resource just to find some foundational references. Like you'd be surprised how much established research on this movie already existed! Though I will take credit for the BTS footage (which includes those interviews with Ricci, Eisenberg and Baio), that I ripped directly from my DVD of the film. I couldn't find any other copy of it online, so I don't think that one has been shared as much.

Sure, it had the gay character be homophobic almost the whole time bc it's the early 2000s and we don't have Brokeback Mountain to soften up the straights yet. Absolutely true that the decent movies that miramax produced were the exception rather than the rule. Harvey, whose entire personality was defined by being a mean son of a bitch, didn’t browbeat and interfere with some directors (like Tarantino). Miramax released some good movies despite the Weinsteins, not because of them. Aside from those few exceptions, their catalogue is a graveyard of movies whose potential Harvey Weinstein smothered
