Jon was working towards building something so beautiful, it's a shame everyone around him couldn't see that. His past enemies using their war drums and horns to make music for a wedding, a wedding between two people from cultures separated by centuries of mistrust. People toasting to the gods of their would-be-enemies, now hosting them beneath their halls. George created such a wonderful moment here.

Despite the Starks being 'the heroes of the story' I love how Martin paints the North. On one hand, it is a traditional, just, honorable place, but on the other hand, people are stubborn, unyielding, conservative and often 'savage' (the Boltons, the Skagosi, etc.). His world building is top-notch! Nothing is black and white.
@nont184112 ай бұрын
He loves to write cultures as “these people are like this by stereotypes, but….” - The north are loyal and honorable, but there are also those who are evil and opportunistic like the Boltons and Karstarks under Arnolf, or very conservative and bigoted like OG Karstarks under Rickard. - The south are full of untrustworthy and backstabbing traitors, but there are also goody two shoes and extremely honorable folks like Davos, Samwell, Podrick and Brienne. - The ironborn are savages, except there is Asha who tried to revolutionize the culture to be more peaceful and Theon, who is more accustomed to the Starks way of life than the Greyjoys. - The Tullys are good guys like the Starks, except that one of them literally started the war by poisoning Jon Arryn and conspired with Littlefinger to frame the Lannisters, while the others have a terrible judge of character. Catelyn and Blackfish hate Jon simply because he’s a bastard (the Blackfish case is even worse, he didn’t even know Jon. He just listened to Cat so he hates Jon like her to the point that he believes that Jon conspired with Tywin to become a lord commander at Night’s Watch) while trusted in Littlefinger, Walder Frey, Roose Bolton and Lysa. - The Lannisters are full of violent war criminal psychopaths, except that there’s one a-hole who started to realize the error of his ways and try to redeem himself like Jaime and another who understands the struggle of marginalized people and has empathy like Tyrion. And many more examples. This is what made GRRM writing so good. It feels real.

The Dragons who breathe fire she really does match the description of a possible chosen one, alas she is somewhere far in Essos and her dragons are in dungeons at this stage
