Feel this so much. I’ve been having such high anxiety lately, lil buggies are trying to destroy my garden, and I’m freakin a bit about an upcoming trip. I also feel very envious of people who don’t have to try this hard to feel okay. Thank you for sharing, Joanna. Helps me feel not alone. Hope you feel some relief from your anxiety soon

Critters were eating my plants last year and I got some blood meal, which is like a soil add-in that increases the iron in the soil and in the plant itself, but it kept little animals like squirrels away. For bugs, look up companion planting. Plant nasturtiums next to tomatoes, for example, and the bugs will go for the flowers and not the tomatoes.

Love the video! Gardening pro tip: homegrown cucumbers actually taste best when they’re small like that! The bigger they get the more bitter they are, so honesty that size cucumber is perfect :)

Should've known this video would instantly speak to my soul. I'm in a very similar place with my mental health. I'm feeling salty towards anyone who can just live their life without all the extra work and suffering.

Before the strawberries start growing try painting small red rocks red so that when birds try to eat them they’ll pick at the rocks and will completely ignore that bed in the future.

Hi Joanna! I don’t know if you’ll see this because your video was 3 days ago, but I was swamped at work this week - and my anxiety has been high - and I’ve had completely crazy dreams when I sleep. So I just had to say that as usual, you are such an example of a woman that speaks the truth and it helps a lot of us. I am in my 50s, but still struggle with understanding how some days just come so much easier to other people. Anxiety is manageable, and I’m on meds, but it still sucks. Thank you so much. PS, that picnic outside with that adorable pillow and your garden around you, that’s the way to do it.💜

for the tomatoes and peppers, perhaps you can cover the planters during germination so it gets warmer in there and also protects them from the pesky lil birdies? i know barely anything about gardening but my mom is a super gardener and i remember her covering her tomatoes in the early stages. love seeing your garden btw, its giving me so much inspo to start my own garden

My dog had ghiardia last spring and it was horrible. She was sooooo sock and lost so much weight. Anytime we bring it up to people they kind of don't believe us that she got it so it's interesting to hear your experience. So sorry you went through that. I was such a wreck.

This happened to a GSD puppy at a daycare / boarding facility I used to work at. We took care of her while her owner was away (who dropped her off sick and didn’t even notify us, didn’t bring meds or anything) and the active pup lost weight but recovered like a champ but when her owner picked her up she then proceeded to lie and say we starved her dog on Facebook. 🙄 people would call and send death threats.. it was lovely 😂😅

I have no idea if you ever plan to make the blueberry cobbler again but next time try cooking down the blueberries a bit so they’re not so liquidy. This will help the batter sit on top instead of cooking into the syrup!

You could start your seeds indoors for a few weeks until they have sprouted and grown a bit and then transplant them outdoors. Maybe then the birds will be less interested in them? Gardening is fun bc it’s like a big science experiment!

I’m trying to avoid having a whole indoor setup. I’m gonna try the netting first and hopefully that helps

Hi Joanna!! I struggle with many of the same issues as you do, so I thought I would suggest something that helped me! I started swimming again after remembering how being in the water made me feel as a kid. I remember just being so free and like nothing matter as long as I just kept swimming. Since regularly going to the pool I’ve felt so much calmer and I’ve been sleeping so well. Maybe if you find somewhere local to you and give it a try it might help, it’s also a nice thing to add to a routine

I feel like nobody is really able to go right back into it . It takes me a while too , week and a half or so just to bring back my sleeping schedule, I feel like it’s also a shock to our organism to be put into a routine right away , and unhealthy too. I know that as a society were used to a fast -quick -and now now now kinda mentality , but it’s not natural to us , I also think that ego and pride is a big part of it (for me it used to be with diets and exercise and routines) I would just assume I should be able to be able and if not I’m a failure But things like that are built over time , I’ve been trying to build a routine for half a year now , and exercise like once a week to three times a week , and I do easy stuff , a bike ride , a run until I can’t , a 20 min hit sesh , but some weeks I don’t , and then I start again with something easy and build it slowly up. So easy on yourself , also allow yourself to kinda dwell in that lack of routine peacefully until you build it back I know it’s frustrating but slow is good
