I've been looking into going to school to be an anesthesia assistant here in Canada. The route for school here is a bit different, you have to be an RRT or a critical care RN and then apply to the programs. I love your videos and you are the only person I have found who vlogs their life as an anesthesia assistant! Thank you sooo much for showing us your life!! @@haldol4all first of all I love your username lmao I think it's extremely competitive. About two or three years ago I was looking at CV perfusion there and I stumbled upon a reddit forum about Michener and the application process for all programs seems intense. It's either Michener or I think there's a school in BC but I don't want to move all the way out there! I'm hoping to get into Toronto General at some point and maybe that will make the admission process a bit easier since they are partner institutions. Good luck to you, friend!!

Hey thanks for sharing your day in the life as an anesthesiologist. I'll say you have a very soft-spoken soothing voice that's good for an anesthesiologist whenever I go in for a procedure and the anesthesiologist is a woman with a soft spoken voice it's perfect soft-spoken voices are very relaxing to me it's like ASMR. Special evening when they're talking me through the whole process step by step I typically don't like surprises.

I had a very bad reaction to succinylcholine. I was stiff and rigid for almost 3 days post-procedure and couldn't even bend to sit down. I'm surprised my heart didn't stop beating since my entire muscles in my body were virtually paralyzed (severe myalgia).

I love your videos. I have medical conditions that require frequent sedations with the mix of Propofol and Fentanyl but I also need GA’s often too. So the team I have includes an anaesthetist. Because of the frequency of procedures or surgeries I usually have the same 2 anaesthetists my surgeon uses for me so thankfully we are familiar with each other and he already knows my history with GA’s and is aware that I don’t come out of them quite affected. I never used to have any issues waking up or straight after surgery but because I’ve become extremely underweight and malnourished that I now and it takes everything out of me. I also have POTS and extremely low bp so they always place a catheter for a few days because I’m a falls risk. My low bp is so bad that I can’t even walk to the toilet without fainting. Being an Anaesthetist is SOOOOOOO involved and complex. I knew to a degree that it takes a highly educated person to be able to do what is needed. You would have to be 100% prepared, not just for the drugs used for a GA but have drugs at hand ready if a complication arises. I didn’t realise that prior to surgery you not only need to get the anaesthetic drugs but also drugs anticipating that you will need to use them. Obviously being good at mathematics is a HUGE must in your specialty to get the right dose needed for each individual. Your videos are very educating and showing us how involved your job is and showing how vital and important the part you play in the OR. Ultimately you are keeping someone alive. Keep making these videos, it gives so much insight. I always like seeing BEHIND THE SCENES, especially if your showing what happens to me during surgery.

I went to st mary hospital in korat Thailand 🇹🇭. I had a fantastic experience. So nice doctors and scub nurses. Consultant on Monday all done by Tuesday mid day. Definitely do it if you have pain like i did for over three yesrs in my side back.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) are Doctoral Educated and trained and you can work anywhere in the US and many other countries. You can also practice independently and bill insurance companies directly in many states. If you are an RN I would advise you to pursue the CRNA route.

AA’s work under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. They are not with you the whole time because they’re supervising 2-4 rooms at a time. Only during induction, and sometimes extubation .

Do patients breath on their own when sedated with propofol IV for a 3-10 mins upper endoscopy for GERD?

Patients can stop breathing with propofol, that's why a provider trained in general anesthesia is required to administer the drug. There is a sweet spot where the patient is breathing but does not respond to painful stimuli. This is called "titrating to effect".

Do you know if they just hire you under a different name title like Anesthsia Technologist or something? I just don't understand that if you went to the schooling for AA you should be able to work anywhere but all I see is CRNAs . Did you ever take any nursing classes as well ? No. You have to move to another state to work. Either move or become a CRNA (nursing school instead of premed courses, 2 years working as a nurse usually in the ICU then CRNA school). Hopefully in the future more states will open up to AA's
