Hi Tom, It was a great day out with you and thank you for your support. I haven’t had time to put out a video for a long time so apologies to those who have subscribed to me or commented and had no reply. I really will try and make more time. I do have videos partially edited so bare with me. Once again thank you - James

Thanks Mary 🙂 . It's an impediment in the way sometimes, but I've got around it and have some great fun adventures regardless. I've got a few places I want to take the kayak locally, plus there's a lovely lake in the highlands of Scotland with a castle ruin on an island in the middle. Going to go there this Summer 🙂

Hi Tom, another truly lovely walk in the brilliant green woods! You always pass on such wonderful knowledge, nettles are an anti-inflammatory, I never knew. A just spectacular view out your window Tom so happy you have that to look out upon. The large bottle with the embossed design turned out very well, you could cut it off and make a lovely vase! Best wishes from California!

I am one who understands not wanting to be on camera. It is also nice to see all the ways people film and share their videos, if they were all the same it wouldn't be any fun to watch everyone. I personally think my voice is terrible, although I can be heard talking to some of the animals in my videos with a high pitched child like voice instead of the one I normally use. The best part of being human is all our differences along with our similarities coming together to become individuals. I really enjoy your videos, and am glad to have found your channel. All my best.

That orange lense just after James arrived. I used to have the road lamp it belonged too in my bedroom when I was a young teen. That’s a good idea to use the pointer stick for pieces of metals. I actually learnt to knit through lockdown and made a teddy haha. Vintage coffee grinder looked nice. I have to be honest Tom, Collette is a huge fan of yours and your videos have often been on the tv that I have heard in the background. Tonight I have watched from the start and I can see why she enjoyed yours channel, For me, I find your content very relaxing to watch, You have good quality camera, nice music and a very good production of your finds. Very well put together. I am still very new to this and watching different videos really helps with my knowledge of learning the Mudlarking world. Like the old watch you picked up, I would of just walked right past that. Awww I just missed out on filming a kingfisher a couple weeks back. They are so fast. At least you got a good shot of the damsel fly. I always think the same when I see the telegraph poles if the workmen did a little bottle digging at the same time.

Another great video! I looked online and found out that nettles do grow in northern New Mexico, but they need lots of water, which is hard to find in most of the state. A good portion of the state has large wildfires at the moment, and we were under a possible evacuation order last week, which has now been cancelled. The alert status is now called "Ready, Set, Go!", and we were under the "Set" stage last week. But people who left during the set stage are back, and my husband's boss caught covid, which hasn't gone away yet. A round about way to say that your videos give me a chance to see another part of the world, and I appreciate it.

I laughed out loud with your story of baby slugs= drugs it reminded me of my daughter when aged 5 who needed an EEG done whilst sleeping with with small electrodes glued to her scalp, bostick, it took days to get off. They told her that the ‘liquid’ drink they were to give her would put her to sleep for the test. She point blank refused to drink it because our cat Marmalade had recently had to be ‘put to sleep’ as he was very unwell. Great way kids relate things.

You may have trouble with separating out nickel. I read about separating out cobalt from nickel, because I am allergic to cobalt, and the early people who did that work died from arsenic gas before they knew what they were doing. The copper tableware I have come across is usually silver plated and you only know when the silver coating wears through.

Hello again from a fellow total and also deep introvert! Or highly sensitive person as some like to say (Elaine Aron - worth a read) - I can totally relate to what you mean about not wanting to be in the video yourself and I really think you strike a beautiful balance in terms of the way you go about doing your youtube videos - I much prefer to watch and listen to your adventures than many others - no offence to them, I just prefer your style and persona. I have an idea for you Tom for the clear colored glass pieces. Buy some 3/16" copper foil with an adhesive backing and wrap it around the pieces, then solder them together. Much cheaper than buying sheets of stained glass and you will get a Folk Art look and still be beautiful to put into a shed window, etc... don't have to be as neat when it isn't being used to sell or to fit perfectly into a window opening. You can also put your finished product into a picture frame and then hang in your home in front of a window to catch the light. The stained glass world calls them "suncatchers." Have fun if you do decide to try this.

Some beautiful pieces of blue and white Tom I know that James will definitely find a use for them like he did previously for making floor tiles for his small cloakroom. I've been picking up pieces of plastic coated copper wire from the Thames foreshore and am going to use it to wrap around some pottery/china pieces for pendants, I'm also currently working on a Thames foreshore copper pipe and cutlery windchime which I hope to finish soon.

I think James made use of the blue and white, making a splash back behind the kitchen sink, and tiles that clad the risers on the stairs of his UK home. His projects really are inspirational... and I may copy some of them if I ever have my own non-rented house. Both of your projects sound great... I'll certainly be using copper wire like that too if I ever get around to making some jewellery. I did make a wire spiderweb today (video out in time for halloween), and I'm planning on making a bouquet of flowers out of copper pipe. 🙂

@@tomburleigh9261 Your wire spiderweb is going to be brilliant for Halloween! Your bouquet of flowers idea sounds very interesting -I'd never of thought of that, I have so many projects at various stages at the moment with the windchime in copper pipe and cutlery and another made with clay pipe stems, a couple of blue and white mosaic hearts that will be going to the west country when they are finished, a colbalt blue glass fish (the Thames has been very generous with blue glass pieces for me of late) I wanted to make a fish to hang alongside one that I have from Nicola White of Tideline Art. There is always something different to find and be inspired by whilst mudlarking or even just walking in countryside or along a beach the opportunities are endless.

the irridised blue pressed glass piece looks like carnival glass and if its blue as it appears to be is the more expensive colour….I wonder if the glass can be used to do glass on glass mosaics …i have made this with ordinary stained glass using clear silicon caulk to affix glass to sheets of tempered glass

Thank you for taking the time to edit and post. Even if it was filmed a while back, it is good to hear your voice. I watch it during the day and then as I relax to sleep visualize what you're talking about. Hope you and yours stay well.

Oh! I watched a video of a girl mudlarking a beach today. She found 3 tiny ornate bottle stoppers. You of course came to mind.

Thanks Annie, I'm so glad my videos help relax people; mudlarking has always been quite relaxing for me, mentally, (whilst also being physically tiring). 🙂

What you said about letting your subconscious guide you (approximately 17:28) really resonated with me. I do tend to let my subconscious guide me, and I am seldom disappointed. Thanks for another visual treat, the vegetation with all the gorgeous shades of green is so lovely.

It's certainly something I'd like to learn, and it looks very calm, and relaxing. When I'm a bit better at making time for myself, I hope to try it. 🙂

I was thinking about you this morning and wondering when you would put up your next video. Thanks for this. Nettles ouch. I got into them as a child and they itched and burned so badly that I still cringe when you walk through them. Have a great day

Hi Tom I have collected 3 bottles of broken trail glass, cobalt, light blue and emerald green. I tumble them with quartz rock and dish soap to clean and remove sharp edges. I will be using the nice ones for jewelry projects, larger pieces I might make a wind chime or stained glass window out of..

Thanks Tom, I'm hoping to get a tumbler sometime... though will have to look into the possibility of building a soundproof cabinet for it to live in first. 🙂
