Thanks Tom, I think there's something like that in my childhood too, though my memories are vague (aphantasia, comes with some quirks). I'll post some river photos on my Facebook page so you can see what stage we are at. It is the time of the opening up of the river, and that's always exciting to see the flow reveal itself

Tom, with rivers and streams such as this, one’s soul quietly nudges one to don the waders and go for a stream walk/lark. You picked a beautiful day and location for this outing. I (Ian) felt for that row of trees precariously perched along the edge of that eroded river bank, a limited future I think. Your stone skimming certainly roused that kingfisher, a great throw.

This one has the ragged remains of a concertina too... which I think rules out a box brownie, the lens is about 30% wider than the one on my Dad's box brownie too. Think that one was my granddad's too, he was a RAF aerial photographer during the war, and a keen travel photographer after.

I have a idea why not make a bucket about only a foot deep with a glass or plexy glass bottom and attach the camera on the inside of the bucket looking down, perhaps use the go-pro there since it's smaller? I wonder how those small security cameras would work, the tiny ones, perhaps using LED lights on the bottom of the bucket as well, attaching the battery on the inside of the bucket. just a few random thoughts. It's good to see you and a friend out and about. :)
