Which part of South Africa are you guys from? I tried bobotie and malva pudding in North West England few years ago, loved it! I also tried Rooibos tea during my hospital stay last year, given to me by a lovely girl from SA sharing the same ward with me. I was in a refugee camp in Kuala Lumpur, from Viet Nam for six months in 1979. On an island for 4 months , then brought to K L for another 2. Never were allowed outside of the camp :( Now living in Toronto, Canada, hoping to go back and visit one day. Thank you for sharing this part of your life journey with us. Ah! You're at TG's along the Tengkat Tongshin road. 😄😄😄 We live a short walk up the road. At the end of the road, turn left you'd find Changkat Bukit Bintang where the night life is at Bukit Bintang but it would be quiet at this moment due to the CMCO. Hope you get to try all sorts of local food like Malay food, Chinese food, some East Malaysian food like the Laksa Sarawak... also Melaka signature food like the ayam kluak, etc. Simply too many to list really!

For travel enthusiasts, Kuala Lumpur has a lot more to offer than most major cities in South East Asia. It has the best AirBnbs, fastest internets, hotels, culture, food, religious centers, travel destinations, largest caves, beautiful highlands and pristine blue sea beaches. A visa run is not sufficient time to fully enjoy this world class metropolis.

The country is closed to tourism now but once its open, may I suggest you visit Pulau Perhentian (pulau means island), Pulau Langkawi, Sipadan Island (off Sabah in East Malaysia voted the world's best reef diving site), Sepilok Orang Hutan and Sunbear Conservation park (Sabah, Malaysia), Mulu Caves in Sarawak, East Malaysia and Genting and Cameron Highlands in the Peninsular a couple of hours ride by bus from KL. Roti canai is simple and cheap food existed more than a hundred years ago probably created by the Indian immigrants with unique Malaysian touch and it differs to roti prata or capati because roti canai is thin and fluffy. Before that the basic ingredients was flour with eggs, margarine and others but now it has diversified to various modes with chocolate, sardine and other ingredients added in. The name has nothing to do with Chennai which was a renamed Madras city that occured sometimes ago.
